One of the things we love about the Brewers,
especially in Milwaukee, is that they're so ingrained in the culture.
And over the last couple of years, under the direction of Izzy Lugo,
one of the team's marketing directors,
they've tried to kind of cement that status
in the Brewers' culture across the state.
And one of the ways they're doing that is with murals.
And if you know anything about murals in Milwaukee,
a lot of them are done by this man.
He's Mauricio Ramirez, joining us live here on Fox 6 Now.
Mauricio, how are we doing?
You got the Brewers hat on?
How are we feeling?
Yeah, we're feeling really good.
I mean, energy's at an all-time high.
You know, we got the beautiful weather in October.
You know, our team is winning, and you couldn't ask for anything else.
It's my first time getting to chat with you, so I'm honored.
Again, knowing your art is everywhere.
And certainly over the last few months,
you had to touch up the Giannis mural after he was traded away.
But you blessed Milwaukee with a new one of Bob Uecker.
And I know that we talked to you during that time,
But as you look at this run and a lot of people looking at Bob Uecker
as maybe having a divine hand in things here, does that mural kind
of add any significance to your portfolio or collection?
Of course. I mean, it just has so much more meaning now,
you know, with just this entire run.
It just makes it, you know, probably the most relatable mural,
probably the most meaningful mural that I've ever done that, you know,
just connects with what's happening right now with the winnings.
And, yeah, I'm just, like,
super honored that I was able to participate in that way
and, you know, help contribute with the team from Wintrust
and Milwaukee Downtown
to, like, knock out a really cool, meaningful project.
It was so fun to see everybody going to celebrate there.
They were handing out Miller Lites
because we know Uecker's connection to that.
And it just kind of speaks to the role that the Brewers
as a whole kind of play, again, in Milwaukee.
I'm curious, where did you watch Game 1 last night?
And kind of if you would share your experience,
I'm guessing riding the highs and lows, just like all of us.
I'll be honest. I have a one year old and,
you know, I wish I was at, you know, fourth base.
But it wasn't. It was actually in bed on my on my phone
while my family was asleep.
We had an early morning. But, you know, I'm hoping to get out there
this week and really just kind of take in the entire,
you know, you know, vibe of Milwaukee and stuff.
You know, it's such a unique thing.
I mean, remember when, you know, the Bucks, you know,
won the championship and it's like very similar to that.
But I think what's nice about this is that, you know,
there's I have a little bit, you know, more of a collaboration with,
you know, obviously, Bob Uecker and his family and,
you know, Milwaukee downtown and the Wintrust people.
It's just like it just feels good to be part of,
you know, that entire movement.
OK, so speaking to a father of an eight month old here.
um so i was out at a watch party
but i can imagine if i had been home and and kind of on uh you know
overnight duty have it on your phone
and you're kind of watching with bated breaths like yes
is that is that your experience like kind
of muted muted reactions pretty similar yeah um but um yeah
you know that's it is what it is and stuff
but you know i'm there i was there you know during uh
in person with some of the Dodgers games
and you know i was able to support them that way and
it's just been a great great run
so um i'm guessing you perhaps plan to pass on that
love of the brewers to your child yeah i mean like we she woke up
in great spirits you know
wearing the Uecker jersey
and everything it was just a great happy morning today it really was
with last night's win so and you mentioned
that you were able to through Wintrust uh and the
the Downtown Foundation
and kind of getting connected with the euchre family um have you
talked to them at all recently i'm curious to like
to hear how they're doing they released the letter
a couple days ago but yeah what they released
was uh pretty much what i i've kind of figured what
they were gonna you know share with the family
and stuff and you know with the beautiful dedication
from last night and it was just been it's just
been ultimate i haven't reached out to them
personally but you know i do plan
on you know submitting something to them and just letting
them know that i'm thinking about them
and i'm thinking about their family and you know just
could only imagine how much um how much they're enjoying
this too oh yeah absolutely um maybe
putting the cart before the horse here uh i can only imagine how
the 2026 brewers would be held
in kind of legendary status if they are able to go through
and win the World Series here which
look let's be honest could include a mural
or murals right now we're one game in but who perhaps
are you thinking or pointing to uh
as potential you know candidates for your next piece of work
here yeah that's a great question there's a lot of murals going up
and i love that because a lot
of people are just kind of taking initiative
to do their own thing so i just seen something come
up in downtown from a building owner i can't remember
who but you know they pretty much kind
of summed up the all-stars of the Milwaukee Brewers
and you know i thought that was a cool
like addition to the city um you know
and just like a lot of budding artists kind of coming to
milwaukee and just kind of adding their own flavor
to the city is is ultimately what i'm kind of
interested in just like kind of inspiring
this next wave of artists but if we're being honest
i don't know i think i'm just saying
this out loud i think we have to like maybe come back to
the leadership of milwaukee downtown
and think about a cool plan i just finished
collaborating with them doing the milwaukee baseballs
and um helping them with that by
just kind of like creating painting the baseballs
and then having uh milwaukee downtown kind of like
facilitate everybody signing a message to the milwaukee brewers
and stuff so that was my last
you know project with them
but you know i could see the leadership of them like thinking of
something really cool and just kind of honoring them
because you know Miller Park is great
and it's awesome and that's like probably the hottest like spot
but i think downtown is just
it's probably one of the nicest
in the entire country milwaukee downtown right on the lake
front lots of buildings lots
of real estate i could see something going down there oh for sure
and i'm glad you brought up the the baseballs
those giant baseballs that are placed i believe
on wisconsin avenue right right yeah
and that people got to sign kind of well wishes to the
team if they're able to go
and see those and also just kind of brings like this World Series feel
to town I'm guessing you certainly have felt
that after being part of projects as we mentioned that
it's just um you don't necessarily have
to be a Brewers fan to feel the buzz that's going on
right now would you agree with that yeah I think
so I think um I mean Milwaukee in general is just
a big sports town it's a huge identity
and I think we're just like shining at the most it's like
it's peak right now and yeah I mean like if you're
not into sports like that you could still I still
see people appreciating the team
and shouting them out on like social media posts so that's
always cool everyone's like digging in their old content
and trying to share it and really just
trying to like create the ultimate buzz awesome
um what are the plans to watch the game tonight
kind of running it back on dad duty uh
no I think we might watch it with some family members to be
honest and just kind of um when my cousin's got
this new projector in his backyard so we might go
uh catch it over there but yeah I mean really it's like any any place
in Milwaukee will be proper
just because they just know how
to host like you know cool local watch parties bars you know
There's so many places in Milwaukee, like I can't even name it,
but whatever place people do choose,
it's going to be an ultimate experience.
I'm actually trying to invite my friends from Chicago to come visit
so they can really, you know, see what it's like to just be in a town
where, you know, people really believe in their sports teams.
Yeah. And get to see them win, too, is really been something
that we've been blessed with here in Milwaukee.
He's Mauricio Ramirez, the famed muralist and artist here in Milwaukee.
Appreciate you joining us on Fox 6 Now.
Thanks a lot.
Absolutely.
