I'm Taylor O'Brien here in downtown Charlottetown
and behind me is the historic Province House.
After 12 years of being closed for refurbishments
the historic building is finally open and you can
see behind me so many people are in line patiently waiting to go inside
and take a tour of the
building and see all of the work that's been done.
Now for so long this part of the building over
here that where I'm standing on was fenced off
and you couldn't even get up to the front door
And now today, that's a completely different story.
People are going inside and going right up to the building.
It was a wonderful place to visit,
wonderful historic place to visit.
And you could tell the history
when you walk through the place.
And I suspect it's gonna feel the same again
because it's just been fixed up so nicely
just from the outside, it looks so wonderful.
Inside is even better
because I felt like it was gonna be like still a bit older,
but when I got in there, it was fresh and like brand new.
I think it's neat when they try to preserve history.
think in Canada we don't always preserve
our history as well as maybe we have been
as we have in the past so it's great
that an effort was made to preserve history.
This project came to around 138 million dollars
and a lot of work has been done on it
to modernize the building.
Every stone on the inside and outside the Province House was removed,
cleaned and either restored or refurbished.
Every banister, every window, door was worked on and so
So much work was done on the building to modernize it,
and now everyone is here to take a look
and see all of the work that has been done.
