Here's your N.L. weather for Wednesday, Oct. 21
Oct 21, 2026
I'm meteorologist Ashley Braulweiler with a look
at your forecast for Newfoundland and Labrador.
Today, quiet for the most part.
Other than a few showers happening on the west coast this morning,
things should actually clear out as we head into the afternoon.
Overall, 6 to 9 degrees for the island portion of the province,
5 to 7 degrees for Labrador and in Lab City.
You should see some sunshine for the first part of the day,
but those clouds will be on the increase
as we see a little bit of unsettled weather
as we head through the night tonight.
The reason for the quiet weather, for the most part,
is because of a ridge of high pressure there.
That's dominating the weather picture.
But we do have an area of low pressure, nor'easter, developing,
or has developed, really, for the just offshore right now.
And that is going to head our way as we head through the weekend.
And at this point, there is still a lot
to iron out as far as that is concerned.
Here's a look at your night tonight for Labrador.
Generally looking at that unsettled weather
continuing through the day on Thursday.
now across the island portion of the province we should start
to see some rain arrive from this
system by the time we get into Thursday afternoon essentially
for the eastern half of the island
then things get dicey and this is because there
is still a lot of disagreement it is looking like
most of us will be seeing some windy conditions along with some rain
but there is the potential
for some snow at play where this falls right now
is what is up for debate at the moment but there
is the chance that we do see some the rain change over
to snow at some point on Friday maybe central
maybe western definitely keep an eye
on the forecast if you are in those regions eastern
Newfoundland at this point looking like we should continue
to see that rain through Saturday
afternoon along with some windy conditions
for the first part of the day before that departs
into Sunday morning that is where
the heaviest rain should fall eastern portions of Newfoundland
we're looking at potentially 50 plus millimeters
of rain this 30 to 50 that you're seeing again
for central and potentially the south coast some
of this may be snow again if you have
any travel plans this weekend keep an eye on the forecast
