We are standing outside City Hall
because the hour of justice has finally arrived.
In just moments from now, inside that chamber,
a historic vote will be cast.
Today, October 22nd,
New York will
choose compassion
over tragedy.
This isn't just a piece of legislation.
This is a sacred vow written in the tears
of a family whose world was shattered in a million
pieces.
No family should ever have to endure the suffocating,
silent grief of losing a vibrant,
beautiful child for months
our family hasn't been allowed
to just grieve we've had to fight we've
had to channel our devastating sorrow into a war for change
but today once this law is passed the
battle can finally stop and i think if these
people truly do love their horses i've been
around horses i volunteer at sanctuaries
that take care of horses they do best when they're
in a field where they're able to be with their friends
and run around and do everything a horse
would love to do naturally where they they can't get that here
when they're living in a concrete
building in a concrete city it's just it's not a
place for a horse to live i am not taking my dog
in the middle of the streets you know in the middle
of the street with trucks and and cars and
buses i'm not i wouldn't i wouldn't uh put my my best friend in risk
and that's what i i i want
these people to understand that it is not about
the love they have for the animals yes and uh
they know
their animals and but
but we're putting them
in risk big big risk i
am disgusted that i
voted for mamdani absolutely disgusted one
of the greatest regrets of my life because he promised
he was gonna stick up for working people
for the little guy for all my friends and co-workers
immigrants many of them who i've known for over a decade now
and they've become you know a big part
of my life as have my three kids we're ten seven
and four years old who depend on me to make a
living every day they're confiscating
our property they're uh stealing a multi-million dollar
business from the horses and probably
the petty cab soon enough you know they're already starting
to go after them. They're gonna get rid of all of us
and just replace us business owners with
minimum wage employees that they can fully control.
I don't feel like that's Mamdani's
New York. That's not what I was promised
when I voted for Zoran Mamdani to be the mayor of New
York City. One death in 150 years is the greatest
safety record in the history of transportation
industries. So my horses are my family.
She's my partner, yes. She's my best friend. She's the one
I spend almost all of my time with.
She's the one I cry to.
She's the one I laugh with. It really
does hurt me when I hear people tell me that.
I abuse my family or I don't treat them right
because she has a job. A working horse is a safe horse.
A horse with a job is a safe horse because
then they're carrying everything.
If you take away that livelihood,
then their futures are very uncertain.
Because you're not just taking away a job,
you're taking away the cost of maintaining that animal
for the rest
of their lives.
90, close to 200 horses in this business.
And each horse probably works many thousand hours
over the course of the year,
at coin hours, and you go many, many years
without any real problem.
Nothing really noteworthy happens
or press-worthy.
Put under is done by the real estate industry.
You can see a precise, exquisite display
of what's going on if you go to 37th Street,
I'm sorry, 38th Street at 10th Avenue,
walk west towards the Javits Center.
First thing you're gonna come upon
is the old Manhattan Hotel, 14, 15 stories,
slated for demolition.
Directly across the street is a business
that was probably built in the 1890s,
originally as livery service.
Been doing automotive repair probably
for the last 100 years, since the 1920s,
slated for demolition.
Walk a little farther up the street,
there's another automotive repair service
slated for demolition.
All these buildings are coming down.
Then you got our care, the stables,
built in the 1890s,
because the river used to come right there.
But then you look to the left
and there's Hudson Yards.
Those representatives, I'll guarantee,
getting a lot of real estate developer money
and probably specifically from hudson yards
it's pretty
habituated he
stopped here
and he gets
a carrot that is we
