Multiple MASSIVE Jays Updates... This is MASSIVE | Toronto Blue Jays News
Oct 24, 2026
Folks, we have multiple huge Toronto Blue Jays updates
to go over today as we just got some very good news.
and it has been the past 24 hours filled
with some bad news surrounding Trey A. Savage and his injuries.
We not only have a big update surrounding Savage,
of course, but some very encouraging news surrounding
a couple of key pieces to this team ahead of Opening Day,
which is a week from today for the Toronto Blue Jays.
We're going to break down these new updates
and discuss what they mean going forward as well as Buck Martinez.
there's some big news surrounding him
but also a sneak peek into what their starting lineup is
going to be on Friday of next week following
a new report revealing the starter for the Athletics
on Opening Day. Time to go over on this episode you're going
to want to stay tuned to the very end of the
video but before we get into it all if you're
a part of the percentage who aren't subscribed to
the channel is the place to be for daily Jays
content you guys have been absolute peace with
the support and it truly means the world to me now ladies
and gentlemen a lot to go over today
some Shane Bieber updates, Jimmy Garcia updates,
Trey A. Savage Opening Day stuff, it's going to be
lot and let's start with actually some Shane Bieber news now we
of course have been filled
with some rough news over the past couple
of days Trey A. Savage is starting the season on the IL and
as you look ahead and as we look ahead rather
to opening day there are some big question marks now
about the rotation but we got some good news
surrounding Shane Bieber so Shane Bieber with
his forearm injury is continuing to throw
from flat ground at Blue Jays camp and John Schneider
says that he's progressing well feeling good
hitting every benchmark he needs to hit not
putting a timeline on it but we're looking
at hopefully touching the mound here fairly soon
then of course once he touches the mound it'll
be pretty uh pretty quick from there and of course
this wouldn't be as big of a as news as it
is if Trey A. Savage hadn't started the season on the
IL, Jose Brios is not going to be starting
the season on the IL, they need as many arms as they
can get now, Shane Bieber is not going to be starting
the season on the on the actual squad
of course he's going to be on the IL as well, I guess
on the actual squad he's not going to start
in the starting rotation
and for Shane Bieber, as you look now suddenly at the starting rotation
It goes from very, very good to very, very thin and a bit less good.
Now, you can see on the right-hand side,
Dylan Cease, Kevin Gosman, Cody Ponce, Max Scherzer,
Eric Lauer is how we factor in for the opening day weekend
and probably for the first month
or so.
Now, we're going to dive into Cody Ponce later in this video.
He's looked very good.
Dylan Cease, crucial signing now,
despite what some people thought at the time, even
though most people liked the move.
Kevin Gosman's, of course, getting the opening day nod,
and Max Scherzer at 41, 42 years
old.
He's going to have to go out there and pump out
a significant amount of innings.
but this is really good for Shane Bieber.
He's not going to be back anytime soon necessarily,
but he is on the horizon and trending towards a return,
which is extremely crucial as we look ahead
to what's going to be a crazy starting five.
Because you can see now it projects to be
Gosman, Cease, Lauer, Ponce
Scherzer might not be in that order,
but Eric Lauer has now officially been moved over
to the starting rotation.
You can see like I covered in yesterday's video,
in case you guys missed it,
68 pitches yesterday, over four innings,
or not yesterday, a couple of days ago now, on Wednesday.
So Lauer is going to get in there because of Trey Savage's injury.
Now, people were asking quickly about Trey Savage
and with his injury, if it's due to
service time.
And if they're trying to save some of their service time,
it makes absolutely no difference.
His service time is still being used up.
So you can see here for Mitch Bannon,
Blue Jays insider for The Athletic, I've seen some people
suggest the Blue Jays are putting Trey Savage
on the IL for service time reasons or would
option him before an IL stint.
That's not the case.
He will be put on the MLB IL and will continue
to accrue MLB service time.
Now, I kind of figured this right,
and Keegan Matheson came out yesterday on, I think, TSN,
and basically talked about how this is not good news,
and for them to actually be categorizing
in his injury, he's actually hurt.
And Keegan Matheson went on to talk about,
you know, potentially flashbacks of Alec
Manoa, who's now a horrible pitcher,
no matter what you think about him.
I'm not too concerned yet.
They are being very, very cautious,
and we heard reports that, I mean, Kevin Gosman came
out and spoke about it, that, you know,
and Trey spoke about it himself.
he wasn't feeling he didn't bounce back quite
the way that he wanted to now he still has been
throwing he was scheduled to pitch
on march 25th it's unclear at this point and at this moment
rather how his current you know schedule has changed
though he is still pitching he's coming
off of an incredible incredible amount of uh of total innings
and not at the MLB level you could
see he only pitched in the regular season 14 innings pitched
a ton of the playoffs the World
Series Game Seven they pushed him hard right i
think he's pitching back-to-back days game six
and Game Seven regardless of that you know correct me
if i'm wrong down below i tried to just completely get
rid of that from my from my memory
and focus on the uh the ton of knowledge i had to have for
this upcoming season keep in mind your savage
is going to still accrue service time but it's not
great that he's on the IL now we look at injuries look
at all these different things you have Cody
Pons who has dominated in spring training now
his spring training is finished and he finished with
a 13.2 a total amount of innings pitched good for 12 strikeouts
and he's 0.66 ERA you can't take
you know results at face value here it is spring training
but at the same time this is going to be
absolutely crucial like all of a sudden now they went
from a ton of depth can you use Cody Pons
out of the bullpen as a long man you're never going
to do that right but Eric Lauer potentially
out of the bullpen as a long man
that's shifted too you need Eric Lauer to be great off rip you
need Cody Pons to be great off rip you need Max Scherzer
to be great off rip you cannot afford
to lose games yes it's 162 game season
the early stuff you need to win games early on in the season
because it's going to be a gauntlet of a division an absolute gauntlet
and the Orioles got way better
the Red Sox got better the Yankees around
the same maybe worse maybe better depending on how
you view it I'm probably gonna say they're gonna
be a little bit worse but who knows right the
Rays you can never count them out the team needs to be good
and you need a starting rotation to do
that now in that same vein we also have a bullpen arm
who is nearing a return and Jimmy Garcia
yesterday was throwing a bullpen at Blue Jays camp
and that was yesterday as he continues working
his way back from elbow surgery
this is good news last time he touched the mound he was
throwing 97 98 miles per hour there is no more setbacks
at this point he continues to throw and
he continues to look extremely good let's look
at the bullpen they have some big decisions to make
i'm gonna have a video tomorrow on it
as of this juncture at this juncture rather like Angel
Bastardo could make it i call him you know Connor Seabold both
those guys are probably gonna
make it in some capacity or at least one
of those two they have a lot of decisions to make now
surrounding this bullpen and I saw some
of you guys commenting about Tommy Nance keep in mind
he has no options so they have to release him
if or DFA him rather if they don't or rather Tommy
Nance will elect free agency
if they don't want him they can offer him to go down to AAA he's not
going to do it he'll elect free agency most likely
so you have Hoffman Garcia Rogers Verland Garcia's
health is absolutely paramount and crucial
at this point outside of that you know Brendan Little
Brandon Fisher Lauer's no longer in the bullpen
that opens up a spot Yuri Rodriguez probably no
longer in the bullpen that opens up
a spot Mason Floridi we'll see how he does Brendan Little of
course they're probably going to keep him
because they have a shortage of lefties there's a lot of
question marks and a lot of it revolves around
Jimmy Garcia being healthy in the first couple
of months and let's say that Trey Savage doesn't return until May
which is a little bit pessimistic
let's say it doesn't happen you're going to need
a lot of bullpen help you're going to need and
depending on Shane Bieber returns depending
on everyone returns you're going to need a lot of
help overall a group effort
and all of a sudden now we're starting the season with i mean very
very shorthanded luckily knock on wood here
the position player side has looked very good in
spring but it's also been very healthy
and yesterday they hit six batted balls over 103
miles per hour not counting the two home runs
that never registered they were insane yesterday
yes it was against you know minor league pitching
and yes it's just spring training the boys look
good right and whether it be Kazuma Okamoto
looking very comfortable at third and absolutely
mashing baseballs Vladimir Guerrero Jr continuing
his insane run from the World Baseball Classic
onwards they they have some some decisions
to make I mean Eloy Jimenez as well who didn't play
in the World Baseball Classic uh you guys corrected me
on that yesterday he looks really
good in spring training .826 OPS there's
so many question marks but also a lot of encouraging
factors but most of it comes down ladies
and gentlemen to what they're going to be looking
like uh you know in their bullpen you have Brendan Little he needs
to be like he has been in spring
training thus far throwing four seamers up he
was touching 100 miles per hour earlier on in spring
you're gonna need Max Scherzer who wanted
to come back to Toronto to absolutely dominate you're
gonna need guys like Kevin Gausman to pitch well
and Treacy Savage hopefully to heal quickly a lot
of question marks but also you're gonna get it done
and I have full faith in this team let me
know down below what your thoughts
are on this folks thank you guys for watching guys peace
