BREAKING: Jays make MASSIVE moves... This is WILD | Toronto Blue Jays News
Oct 24, 2026
We have some big news to go over today.
The Toronto Blue Jays have just changed forever
following some massive moves that they have
just made as breaking news has dropped
surrounding John Schneider and Ross Atkins.
Not only getting extensions,
but now ahead of what's going to be one of the most anticipated
seasons in recent memory.
The core of the Toronto Blue Jays team
from the top down is solidified and this team has
all of a sudden become one of the more stable teams in the MLB.
We're going to break down these extensions,
discuss most importantly the details.
people are talking about, discuss what it means going forward
as well as a ton of other updates
you're going to want to stay tuned to the very end
of the video ladies and gentlemen before we
get into it all a very quick reminder to hit
that subscribe button you guys are an absolute beast
for the support now folks i had a video a couple hours ago
on the moves and moves they're going to
be making things like that there are more moves
on the horizon here this uh you know into the next
couple days opening day on friday
but we have some big news that dropped and it is extensions
not just to John Schneider
and we'll dive into a bunch of things in a minute here but also of
course, Ross Atkins. You can see here, news.
John Schneider and Ross Atkins signed contracts with
the Blue Jays. Five years for Ross,
two more years for Schneider, which brings John Schneider into
the 2028 season. And folks, this is pretty surprising.
Not the John Schneider one, but
Ross Atkins. And things just completely changed.
The Jays changed forever with this. And you might
think that's an exaggeration. That's hyperbole.
Ultimately here, this is extremely, extremely
huge news because most people thought John Schneider
was going to get extended. I mean,
he makes the World Series. He got through kind
of that litmus test of being a manager
had one bad season. It is what it is. Ross Atkins.
He had some ups and downs as GM. I mean,
just a couple of years ago, we're talking about
how he's surely going to get fired after that
74 win season. They signed him to a five-year contract extension,
ladies and gentlemen,
which is quite the hefty contract.
Now you look at it from the perspective of the Toronto Blue
Jays. They clearly trust, and we'll dive into some comments
from Mark Shapiro on the truth behind it.
they clearly trust Ross Atkins. I'm fine with it.
I know a lot of you guys don't necessarily,
some of you don't love Ross Atkins and things like that,
which is why I'm curious to see what
you guys think about it in the comment section.
But this is massive, massive news. Now, see here,
the Blue Jays have a rare level of stability from the top down.
Shapiro extended in December.
I think Shapiro has done an absolutely fantastic,
superb job, whether that be from the, of course,
top to bottom, especially when you look at it
from the perspective of all the stadium renovations
they went through he's done a fantastic job now you look
at Ross Atkins extended today now for
the next five years he's going to be involved
for a very very long time with this team and now of
course he's going to be the one
who spearheads the moves going forward you can't fault him for
any move he's made this offseason really it's hard
to fault him for you know any of their lack
of success in the playoffs they look great
and of course i mean prior to last year of course i'm
referring to because last year they made
the World Series it's well deserved five years a little bit
steep but again i'm not going
to complain John Schneider clears day his is only two years and
of course they extended Vladimir and Ross helped get that done
but it is huge news and completely
changes the way that things look going forward
and again two years for John Schneider they'll
reevaluate in 2028 which again a couple years
from now not bad we have some comments though
John Schneider said that negotiations on his extension
and we knew there were ongoing
negotiations this is stuff that you know especially
for managers and GMs it's a bit more
interesting to talk about compared to players
but he said negotiations on extension led to a couple
of sleepless nights not going to lie
but it's really cool to remain with the only organization
he's been a part of something that i don't take for granted at all
and he's obviously uh i guess
he grew up as a manager with Vladimir Guerrero Jr Bo Bichette all
those guys and he ultimately
and deserved it right he took over
for Charlie Montoyo he looked extremely extremely a little
bit raw as a manager especially in his first few years
but now all of a sudden he is uh he's
He's in a very, very good spot as a manager,
and he's turned into one of the better managers
in the MLB.
And of course, that's because he made the World Series.
You can talk about his Brandon Little moves.
I'm happy with John Schneider as manager.
I think it makes a ton of sense.
Now, again, he said his negotiations led
to a couple of sleepless nights.
We don't know the details on that.
We don't really know the money figure.
It's not as big of a thing for managers.
And obviously, it is for the actual managers.
But those negotiations aren't quite
as public knowledge as some of the other ones.
But you can see here from Hayes and TSN,
Shapiro and Atkins are going to put in a 15-plus
year run with the Jays.
we'll see about that one but they will actually ultimately
by the end of the contract organization
top down hopefully they will be officially going down
as two of the most influential figures in
toronto sports history which is crazy
with the i mean ross atkins much part of it here since 2016
that's going to end up being yeah 15 year run after
ross atkins contract is up for john schneider
obviously he's been a part of it as well
in a different way it's incredible to me it's a little
bit wild that again i was doing videos on this a couple years ago
and we were talking about how
Ross Atkins might get fired, I mean not even
a couple years ago literally this time last year
why is Ross Atkins still part
of the team? Why, you know, as Ross, he did it right, like he built a
good team. Now he went into this offseason clearly
the players respect him. Clearly guys like Dylan
Cease who love Toronto clearly
also of course he's feeling really good. If you didn't watch my video
earlier, feel free to check it out. He chose to sign
with the Blue Jays right away and a lot of
free agents are starting to do that and the Jays have built
a culture from Mark Shapiro, Ross Atkins
and beyond that is sustained for success.
And you can see here from Keegan Matheson,
I'm a big believer that once a manager clears the bar
of being a good manager, they need to fit the team.
Cito Gaston fit the World Series teams.
John Gibbons fit the veteran roster.
John Schneider fits this team, a Blue Jays lifer
who has grown into this.
And this is somebody in Keegan Matheson
who's been on my channel, of course,
but has also been on the field constantly,
of course, being a reporter.
He's been around the team constantly for years now
and is one of the better reporters
for kind of, you know, knowing the vibe.
he says John Schneider fits it clearly
and fits it well. Can't disagree with him, I think John
Schneider is the kind of epitome I mean
the players love him, right? And I think a lot of that
is the culture that's been built up Ernie Clement
and beyond, like Vladimir Guerrero Jr. of course
now Bo Bichette is gone, there is a culture that finally we we have
and no other team really has
at the level of Toronto Blue Jays
and they wanted to solidify that culture through stability and I'm
very glad they did that, but we did see some comments
from both Shapiro and Ross uh speaking
about it. Let's dive into them. So this is from Shapiro
on the top Ross has done an outstanding job in
building a deep foundation
with an accomplished baseball operations team I'm a strong supporter
of stability and continuity it's easy for me
to believe in Ross as I've seen him transition from
player to young front office executive to established executive
and I'm extremely confident
that his leadership will help us achieve
our goal of bringing a World Series championship, not
championship championships back
to Canada I've always liked Mark Shapiro speaks pretty good
ultimately here, he is going to be the guy
who kind of
spearheads all this, and he did. And I think bringing
back Ross Atkins is solid. Some of you guys
aren't going to agree, I'm sure, but you see
in the second one, this is from Ross himself.
I'm incredibly grateful for the opportunity to continue to get
better alongside the remarkable people in this
organization. Toronto is a special place
and I want to thank our fans across Canada
for making this one of the best environments
in all sports. And thank you, of course, to all
the guys up top. The owner, Edward Rogers,
Tony Stellare, Mark Shapiro, Rogers for the continued
trust and support and I look forward to continuing to learn
and build a Toronto Blue Jays championship
so all exciting stuff the Jays changed forever
as of today these are monumental moves here
obviously we can talk about Vladimir Guerrero
Jr. that is probably bigger but like these are the
guys who make the decisions
and for a very long time there was hesitancy since Ross and Mark
Shapiro came over from Cleveland about our about
their ability to build a sustained winner folks
they uh they did it at this juncture
and this team has been really good for a really long time
They haven't had the playoff success until last year,
and now hopefully they can go ahead and do it going forward.
So let me know down below what your thoughts are on that
as we all now enter the next few days ahead of the biggest season
of a lot of our most anticipated season of a lot of our lives.
Of course, some of them in the 90s as well.
It's going to be exciting.
They have some moves to make.
Keep an eye out on Chase Lee making the Toronto Blue Jays.
It's down.
Reports came out to Chase Lee and one other player in Spencer Miles,
and we're going to keep you up to date every step of the way.
Thank you guys for watching.
You guys are absolute beasts.
Cheers.
Thank
you.
