King Tides in Laguna Beach, It Could Be Bad.
Oct 23, 2026
Some crazy tornado went through the golf course.
Dude, this is gnarly!
I was like, I have a scooter!
Circle K is almost under water.
Dana Point waterfall.
Crazy, they fully closed this other lane.
Spicolis, surf report, and the crack.
Today was kind of interesting
because we had big rain last night and a bunch of wind,
so the tarps got pretty torn up.
up and I was expecting to see a little bit more shedding
from the cliff than what I saw this
morning. I thought there'd be kind of some new fresh dirt
that had fallen underneath the tarp
but it looked like it held up pretty decent actually.
There's definitely a lot of exposed
exposed cliff underneath the tarp sections that got blown over.
Band-aid looks like it's about to
get ripped off that's for sure
and today they're gonna lay concrete at low tide so we just checked
on the high tide waves were definitely still washing up
to the base of it which would make
it really difficult for them to put concrete bags down there
but uh the low tide today they should
be totally fine and hopefully that will uh secure
the bluff for the king tides that we're about to
get it's supposed to be kind of crazy king tides
because of the kelvin wave and there's already
like really
high tides
in the morning
the coming days
i went back
down check out
brook street
surfing sand and still the surfing boulders there's really
no signs of sand coming back
if there were any sand that came back it's now gone
and uh waves are just exploding into the
front of the houses at brook street
and the front of the surf and sand and the waves aren't even
that big and it seems like the waves that aren't
that big pass the outer reefs and actually hit
the walls harder so it's almost like the sneaky
in-between set ones that are hitting the houses
and the cliffside harder
and uh yeah it's just gonna be really interesting to see what happens
with these these higher tides like i think
a big issue with what's going on right now is because
the there's a Kelvin wave
and some high tides waves are not breaking on those reefs that used to
protect our coast a little bit
and they're just passing the reefs because it's deep enough and
then doubling up and hitting all the structures on the inside
and there's no sand buffer no sand
buffer so i don't know it's looking kind of dismal
for town for the coming days especially yeah
especially with those king tides yeah next week
and usually in the summertime town has a lot of
sand and then in the winter the sand gets pulled out
but going into winter with already no sand is
a little troubling yeah i keep thinking like oh we're gonna get
a west wind or a winter swell and
the opposite is happening it's you know almost november
and there's nothing in the forecast but
some south swell and uh really we just need wind like any wind
from the west any wind from the
northwest is gonna help oh the guys all right we'll take
his call now wow look it almost looks
like oh umbrella look at umbrella
in that person's front yard broken glass this person's house got
robbed bring us up to speed what just happened shay led us
on to what looked like a water spout going
through the San Clemente municipal golf course
and uh yeah so we just came to check it out
sure enough it does look like some some crazy
tornado thing went through the golf course
because there's like a line of trees that all got downed
and then there's trees on the other
on the other side of it that looked totally fine
so look at this palm tree literally snapped in
half that's insane
what you can totally
see the path yeah
not your not your
average like
oh it was windy and there's a couple tree branches down
on the golf course it looks like
there's a pretty clear track of where this thing went through
the golf course and tore up the trees
and there's everything from like small trees
that got torn up to to like what looked like healthy
old trees uprooted from the ground just another weird thing
that we happen to happen in our
vicinity strange times yeah something every day
it seems yeah i guess there was a power line that
and it was downed over here as well.
Seems like this little stretch right here,
kind of downed by trestles, got hit by something.
Maybe a water spout that made landfall
or something crazy like that.
That guy could have got picked up by the tornado.
Holy moly.
No one's safe.
That's a prime tornado victim right there, dude.
He's lucky to be on the ground
with those four little legs.
Four paws on the ground.
South swells finest.
Thank you, Jackie.
One more?
Yep.
in that rainbow right now you'll catch up to it look
at that what a dana point headland rainbow
our first time
checking out beach
road in capo beach
and this is
probably the
piece of coast that has lost the most properties
in socal um there's like maybe six or seven red
tagged houses so just completely gone
and probably a lot a lot more yellow tagged houses in this zone
but yeah even even just checking it out
from the road you pretty much can see every other fifth
house has some damage and then you
also have houses that are just this is an example of
probably a red-tagged house where they're just having
to completely demo the whole thing dropping
anchor dude that was
a kind of scooter
do you think those
houses were built
in um on beach
road they're old they've been there
for a really long time some of them i bet you probably the
earliest ones were probably built
in the 70s or 80s development
on those houses began in 1925 and
1930s that means they're 100 years old some
of them some of them might not have made it to their
100th birthday didn't hit that century mark i don't think
so and there definitely used to be a
bunch of beach on beach road there's a reason they call it
a beach road a lot of there's a trend you
got the surf and sand this is now the surf
and boulder and the beach road is now it's definitely
a rocky road that one look at the middle
of the road right now the street right here
look
at
that
parking
lot
it's
like
i
hope
i
close
my
windows
one
hell
of an
irrigation
system
from
the
car
of his
car
that
was
that
was
pretty
good
i
wasn't
ripping
earlier
how
does
it
feel
to be
nice and dry Blair for the whole time i just put 77 degrees
in here that was a serious downpour
didn't rain for long but streets were just flooded
in like a matter of minutes the heaviest rain i've
seen in California in a long time it was like
a little cell of just downpour that's a sign of
anything to come this winter we're
in for it the famous Dana Point waterfall
when it rains a ton
in Dana Point this will happen water
at one point came up
and over this and was streaming down here
you can see where the leaves
and everything you can tell by the line of pores can well it smells
kind of disgusting it looks like i think
that stump over in the street that is where the water
was like it was flooding over it pushed that out
of here like at the peak of when it was raining
really hard this thing must have
been absolutely crazy i wish i saw it 20 minutes ago like when we
were playing with Snoopy in the streets this thing
was freaking Niagara Falls i've never seen it
overflow it you can tell it went full overflow i've seen it
when all of that road is underwater
really this whole thing yeah
because that that definitely happened a little bit ago
yeah because you can see that where the water line
was on the grass to the road pretty insane how
flooded it was at one point green is just totally
plugged up with debris you know where i'm coming
next time there's a massive downpour straight
to the Dana Point waterfall beautiful are you
gonna get rid of the tree trunk four
different attractions today checked out
the band-aid on BCH
that was pretty interesting
because there was a lot of wind last night so the band-aid got
pretty ripped off and the crack was showing again
and there was definitely some action down there
then we went to the surf and sand in Brook Street where waves
were just smashing the hotel still
waves were also exploding up onto the staircase at Brook Street
then we went to a tornado spot
for what we think might have been a tornado
that tore through the San Clemente Municipal Golf Course
because there's a bunch of downed trees
and kind of like a clear path through the golf course where
the where the downed trees are Shay Porter led us onto that one
so thanks Shay the hotline the
hotline for anything San Clemente
and we went checked out the beach road houses where there's
a bunch of red tagged houses that are no longer livable
and waves have just completely smoked
a good portion of that road
and a good portion of the houses on that road and then we were on our
way back home and it started nuking rain
in Dana Point like probably some of the hardest I've ever
seen it rain in California honestly it was just
a supercell right over Dana Point that dumped a
ton of rain in like a matter of 10 minutes
and you would never know that it rained now like you
look at the streets and it's like sunny and nice out
but it was downpouring and you could see where
the Dana Point waterfall started to overflow went
and flooded the street right below it
yeah that sums up the day I'm actioned out I'm taking
a nap your hair's dry oh yeah we made it
made it you came so prepared today rain jacket rain boots I had
a premonition I was
confused when you came out prepared
because it said a 10% chance of rain today and for Dana Point
we'll get back to you soon
with more crack coverage yep back
to the crack almost lost
the waves are still pretty big right look
at this crane right here that's the crane that was
lifting the tractors off
the beach trap bags those are things
are huge and that's what they're
putting the sand into boom get
that calm down here
they're putting beach
where it belongs basically
but just in ginormous sandbags
and they're gonna prevent waves from washing up to the bottom of
that cliff there and hopefully keep PCH standing for a little
while but yeah it is a big operation
i see why it costs four million dollars now there's probably probably
a good 40 to 50 people
working today all sorts of different organizations
like 20 cars over there yeah yeah Caltrans you
have the lifeguards you had the sheriffs it was a full operation pretty
and fascinating watching
the waves wash up and hit the tractors
while they're working to to secure that bluff a lot
of action a lot of action it looks like they moved a bunch of rocks
and other things up to the base
like pushed it up with tractors see
that until they didn't get that far but oh they did they
pushed up a lot of rocks over to it they basically built up
a rock berm not the whole cliff though
and look they didn't really fix the tarps tarps look
at the tarps on the cliff this is crazy
we've got sand coming to the base
of the cliff they're putting sand down there in big plastic
bags they're basically just big sandbags
and uh it looks like they've probably put down like 12
of them today before the tide got too high
and it looks like waves are already washing
washing over the sandbags that they um placed
but it kind of looks like it's it's helped this
is an insane operation they're craning
the tractors on and off the beach every day to
place those sandbags and move around all the sand
then they've got the crane the concrete crane that
that I saw yesterday that I thought was going
to be putting concrete down is actually just
putting sand down into the bags, which is great.
We're happy about the sand.
