Video Summary
AI GeneratedSevere coastal erosion and high surf are causing significant damage along the California coast, specifically affecting the Pacific Coast Highway (PCH) and residential areas in South Laguna. The narrator documents crumbling cliffs, lane closures on PCH, destroyed beach infrastructure, and homes undermined by the ocean.
Apparently the cliff side right here this close to PCH is falling
and uh yeah just that's why all
this water is so brown. We're getting some cliff erosion here.
I've never seen the water this
brown. So they just closed PCH uh part one lane on PCH
and my guess is because the cliff is eroding
so bad over there that it might be at risk
of like having part of PCH crumble into the ocean so
i'm pretty curious to see what it looks like over there there's
been tons of mud and lots of like
just the water looks so murky and brown here
and it's all because the cliffs being eroded
and falling into the ocean it's probably one
of the most vulnerable pieces of California coast
right now and um yeah i think i bet you
if there's nothing done about it that this part of PCH will
probably fall into the ocean in the next
who knows when that kind of i think PCH is bound
to have some issues and they're already closing down one lane
because of it yeah so film this
lane closure right here
so i think we just figured out why they closed this lane and
it's because the cliff along El Moro has eroded
so much that there's actually a crack
that comes all the way up to about probably 10 feet away from the road
so that part of the cliff
hasn't fallen yet but probably
going to fall yep it's right past
this lifeguard station PCH is
collapsing there's no cracks
in the road yet though insane all
that all the mud in the water is from
much the cliff is falling into the ocean it's not from the runoff
or anything it's just from
straight erosion
so yeah there's there's a ton of ton of dirt being lost and uh
probably there's about to be a big landslide right over there
and luckily it doesn't look
like the cracks under PCH yet but it's getting closer
and closer so yeah that's pretty pretty
insane it's going to be interesting this winter yeah
and tomorrow the day the waves are bigger
and the tide's still really high
so my guess is that that part of the cliff that already has a
crack in it could collapse as early as tomorrow
or that crack will at least widen quite a bit
pretty
pretty wild
stuff that
was a good
one oh this
one might
be pretty
nuts holy
moly that was
a pretty good set oh
my this next one looks like it might
double up pretty bad oh yeah this one's
gonna be gnarly all the shrapnel
from the parking lot concrete
getting blown up into the parking
lot this morning all
the benches and everything's put back here
whole police squadron it goes out of
Aliso is walking up right now, too.
It's a pretty big set.
Whoa, that's a big set.
Dang.
Almost a full rainbow.
This is a good wave.
Oh boy still
some swell.
That's a real big wave.
Oh my gosh.
Just barely enough sand to make
those things break before they hit the...
Whoa, look at that.
What are you
hoping
to see?
We're just going to do a little beach survey down at Aliso.
But it's peak high tide right now.
and there's definitely some crazy wash-ups into the parking lot
so just gonna try to transition
Pelicans
on it
too
oh
insane
wave
spit
watch
this
backwash
oh my
backwash
oh
it's a
backwash
on monday the 12th i believe it is pretty nuts how big
the waves are already supposed to be
bigger tomorrow back
washes are crazy
right over there lots
of water going
into the parking lot
the new aliso creek creek
it's like a just looks like
it's gotten demolished what
do you have a
new piece of art for my living room well sounds about right all
the rules and regulations for
aliso that we always follow always what are some
of the rules that we follow
the world.
This is where
the slide
happened two
winters ago
and you can tell
the rock
is getting
pulled out into the ocean from this slide.
Gradually water's just eroding this cliff
base and and all the new dirt and rock that fell from up there.
I'm gonna play some bets that
There's more slides from this cliff face this winter
This seems to be a pretty unstable part
of the coastline even over there to those those rocks
Probably fell a couple years ago
My guess is there's gonna be more to come down
The part an old part of the staircase right there came
from right up there. How's this?
Volleyball courts going pretty roots down here super roots
wow it's like there's more sand up here
but all the sand is gone right there
never ever ever seen
that much rock exposed
didn't even know it existed
property this palm tree is somehow
hanging on for dear life that's insane
the roots are like all bent up from the ocean
two by fours who knows where that came
from staircase staircase in some sort
oh another down palm tree just noticing
that buried by the sand you can see the
bottom structure of these staircase right here
that palm trees probably next to go
wouldn't doubt it goes
tomorrow Wow holy the back
no takers West Street
West Street actually looks
a little bit better than I thought at least over in
the cove over there there was a cone
because waves were probably washing all
way up here yeah this is definitely a lot lower
than it used to be but kind of some sand moved
back over here interesting this is interesting i think there
is new rock that has fallen in this
cave since i looked at it after marie pretty sure all
that rock has fallen from the roof of this
cave it looks pretty fresh we'll do a comparison
to the last video to see if that's new or if maybe
that was there already
but i think this cave's getting bigger i think that's all new rock that
has fallen you can kind
of see like up there there's some fresh cracks that's going to be
a pretty interesting comparison actually
because i definitely videoed up into that cave right after
marie and i'm pretty sure it didn't look like
that so yeah we'll run that footage back and
i don't really want to stand here let you be the judge
of if you think new rock has fallen off the
top of that cave it's about to get bigger
if the if you think the cave's getting larger i'm pretty
sure it is that might be a new sea cave here
in a couple couple days this is peak low tide
and there's still water washing up into the cove over there
so definitely not safe to be in that
cove at peak high tide maybe not even that safe
to be down at this beach at peak high tide over
I'm going to go check out the Blue Lagoon
and see how those houses are holding up down there.
That's probably the part of South Laguna that has
been hit the hardest as far as property loss goes.
Let's see how it's looking down there.
This is insane.
Oh, water.
Low tide.
This is what it looks like at low tide.
There's water already coming up here.
So much
shrapnel.
A couple of downed palm trees.
to try to show you some clips of this on high
tide tomorrow morning i think it's gonna look
a lot different wow look
at this this is a whole staircase really nice staircase i think there's
there's a pool definitely a pool up there somewhere look
at how undermined this thing is
that's just hanging
on by a thread probably oh boy
that's a pretty good
size one it's about as
close as i want to get wow full puddle crazy got
the waterproof reef
these things are where it's
legit this could be a
very bad idea oh boy
oh boy i literally
went in the only
corner where i was
safe right there that's insane look
at this this whole front
of the house got hit for all the
condos uh-oh insane look
at how bent in this shutter
is storm shutter
is completely bent
bench has got
destroyed oh waves
aren't even making
it up here right now
so oh yeah they are
right as i say that yep let me see did you get hit
in the back what happened to you i can't
believe i found that little
corner pocket you're lucky yeah
i'm sure i definitely got wet
watch
out bro
that's
why
those
benches
are
gone
bro oh
on the
roof
torn up
because
they
had
windows broken in
seems
it.
