Hello from the Fox Chicago Forecast Center on a wonderful,
fantastic Friday where high
temperatures made it into the 70s today.
Not bad for this time of year and much better than where
we were a week ago. Let me remind you,
take you back in time here and show you last Friday,
high temperature was 57. It was the same thing last Saturday.
Much different story coming up
as we go into this weekend.
I think tomorrow, right around 73.
On Sunday, if the wind actually comes in out of the southwest,
as I expect, high temperatures could easily jump up
to around 74 or 75 degrees.
Now, the one difference this weekend,
a little more cloud cover than what
we've seen over the past couple of days,
so don't be surprised by that.
But still, I think we get a fair amount
of sunshine both Saturday and Sunday.
Low temperatures each morning in the 50s,
some upper 40s for some, really not bad by October standards.
And keep this in mind, statistically speaking, the 17th of October
is typically the final time we see high temperatures above 75 degrees.
So if we do indeed hit 75 this Sunday, that's over a week past due.
And we could see more mid-70s before the next seven days are over.
Let's get through tonight first.
Overnight lows in the 40s for most, above normal by a few degrees.
A couple of areas may hold around 50.
It's possible we see some returning fog, but there might
be just enough of a southeast wind to hold that fog at bay.
If we do see anything, it would be up against the lakefront.
Now here's Saturday, hour by hour in detail.
Again, a mixture of clouds and sunshine. We'll call it partly cloudy.
Southerly wind holding at around 10 miles per hour in the afternoon.
Not bad, not windy by any means,
but a little bit breezier than where we've been.
And those temperatures jumping up
into the 70s once again for almost everybody.
If you're up against the lakefront, you may stall out in the upper 60s,
but still, that's above normal for the latter part of October.
Great weekend to go outside and see the leaf colors changing,
because right now we're at the high color point,
And in about the next five to seven days,
most of our trees getting close to peak color here.
And then if we do get a windy day,
that'll strip the leaves right off of the trees.
So if you've been holding out for photos or whatever,
now's the weekend to do it or maybe next week as well.
Temperatures still holding in the upper 60s, lower 70s.
Keep your eyes on Wednesday of next week.
That is another day we could see a southwest wind
and the potential for mid-70s for highs.
