Video Summary
AI GeneratedA technician diagnoses a cooling issue for a 2017 air handler in Dalton, Georgia. After discovering low sub-cooling and high superheat, the technician identifies a refrigerant leak using a leak detector, repairs the system, and recharges the refrigerant to optimal levels.
hey guys we got us a no cooling call
in Dalton Georgia somewhere between Egypt and Hawaii you
can't miss it inside we
got one of those gam gam
or tam air handlers we got us
a 2017 14
and she said it is not cooling like it's supposed
to like it takes forever to reach temperature
let's see what's going
on looks like we have us
a single speed
condenser out here so
turned
it
way
down
two
burn
er
let's
look
and
see
what
we
got
low
sub
cooling
and
high
super
heat
see if y'all can see what i'm seeing that's
my sub cooling and that's my super heat
low pressure vapor saturation
at 17 degrees this thing's low
on refrigerant all right let's stop
and
do a
leak
search
all
right
it
looks
like
we
have
a
gaf
2a
oa
24
let's
see
if
we
can
find
the
leak in here looks like this is fairly easy
to work on compared to some of the other ones i've
seen
this might
be there
excuse me
this might
be their
entry
level
air air
handler
that's
down in
the
in
the
drain
pan
for
just
a
second
that
looked
like
a
big
leak
I
think
we
have
found
our
leak
I'm also going
to double check
with this one that
thing just auto
zeroed this thing
auto zeroes so
fast
Houston
we
got a
leak
I've
been
charging
this
was a
lot
lower
a lot
lower
on
refrigerant
I had thought
coolants coming up super
heat's coming down watch it
this is where I'm gonna
leave it 11.1 degrees sub cooling 18 degrees super
heat I think was lower than I thought it was
y'all might have noticed i was using
a different leak detector on that one
i figured i would give that one a try
um it comes highly recommended and uh after speaking with
shannon knight i i realized i need more than one leak detector
on my van and sometimes that um dr58
it has an issue um the issue i have with it sometimes
is that it auto zeros real quick and
you might be getting close to a leak
or wanting to zero in on one and it auto zeros um and that
may be the reason for the other issue i'm going
to describe it sometimes doesn't seem like it can
pick up a leak that is obvious i mean where there's oil
and everything and it just doesn't
seem like it can pick it up
but um most of the time it does great but the auto zeroing
real quick like that um i think that's just too fast thanks
for watching i'll catch y'all in the
next one
