At the moment, we'd like to show you this beautiful Weller soldering iron that we use every day in our videos. The Weller adjustable temperature irons work better than cheaper ones because they attempt to keep the tip at a certain temperature, and are a higher wattage. This helps you get nice solder joints and makes it easy to do repairs.

Ladies and gentlemen, this is Joe's Classic Video Games back
with another cool pinball
repair video for you this evening.
We have been working
on this Elvis Presley Hunka Hunka Burnin' Love pinball machine for
a couple videos now, and hopefully we can finish it up in this one.
It is pretty much up and running, doing its thing.
We played it a little bit in the previous video,
but we have a couple light bulb issues.
We need to test all of the switches,
make sure we adjust anything that needs adjusted.
And I had to order some things.
so look at this now these people do not pay me
to say this so take this for what it is but we
ordered some stuff from good old Marco Specialties
in Lexington South Carolina we are in Rock Hill
South Carolina so one of the reasons we order from Marcos
because they're right down the road
so they we get it within a day or two
so we've got some parts in our other favorite pinball
parts place is the pinball resource we usually use them on older games
which is what we usually work
one. But we needed some little plastic pieces and stuff.
So we ordered it from Marco. So we've got
to do that. We also have to do some plastic surgery
on Mr. Elvis's face there. He keeps
hitting himself in the face with the microphone
or he did at some point. So it has busted up his
lip a little bit. We'll figure that out.
Got to make sure he looks good. And so that's that. So
that's what we plan on doing in this video.
So let's take this package and open it up so I can
remind myself what i ordered and what the machine needed
so this is all i ordered a back box lock
thing you know there's supposed to be one
of those in each of them ours is missing one of
these little spotlight things um there
is a flasher light that shines on the Elvis figure
and it's missing off of that i don't know if i've originally had one
or not but it's supposed to
have a 906 flasher so i got a led 906 flasher you know what
this one's directional well yeah
it'll work with this in there um so we'll see how
that works out i'm not a lead guy but someone else
had already put leads in the rest of it
and then i got a few more leads because some of the leads
are missing um and then i got these pop bumper uh bases
because uh joey ran out of them when he
was doing the playfield if you watched that video
the first video in the series uh and then i got
new scorecards these were yellow
and they kind of look cool that way so i went ahead and ordered
them instead of trying to print some out
and then these were what i was kind of the only thing i
actually needed these are little retainers
that uh now i got no diode ones i believe that's correct
basically this is what holds the bulbs
in the bottom of the playfield you will see it soon
some of these are cracked on mine
so i need to replace them with nice new springy ones
so that was the main thing
so i guess we'll go do that first let's put pop up the playfield look
underneath it and find all of the broken ones i
don't know how many there were so i ordered a
dozen or something 10 of them um and we'll go ahead
and replace those now it uses insulation
it's an insulation displacement connector
which means basically you just skin the insulation off
of the uh wire when you push it through the socket
so let's go see what we can find so i've found
three so far and what happens is one
of these little things here that holds it in place breaks
off and so then it kind of hangs in there weird
and so this is one of the ones that was broken
it was missing its lead so i put just a regular bulb
in it a real bulb in it and um yeah so that's
that so when i ordered these i ordered the ones
that do not have a diode which means they have a
little jumper wire so basically one wire connects here
and one wire connects here and the wire that
connects here is connected to that jumper wire
which connects over to here
and then on this side there are two holders
that hold the socket jumps over
to here where the wires connect
so on these you actually need the diode though
so that is how they originally looked
so instead of a wire jumper there there is
a diode there and it has the anode towards
the where the wire is so we need
to make ours like that so I pulled out the wire
and put in a one in four
4003 is what was in it. Any of my work that went in 4001 would work.
Pushed it down in there with the screwdriver
So it's connecting here to here
and it's got the anode towards the wire
so I did a couple like
that and I'm gonna slide a new bulb in it and
Push the wires back down in place and that should get it fixed
And now the reason I'm doing that again is because
this little clips broke so they just hang in there weird
This one someone had glued in there.
Okay, so there was a broken one there a broken one down there
there and a broken one here now you may have just
noticed whenever i ordered the LEDs i accidentally
ordered magenta LEDs so i put them in red inserts
so you can't tell um there was also an issue where
uh some of the so i didn't put these LEDs
in here these LEDs in here somebody else did
so these four up here uh were warm instead of cool
so i took the warm ones out and put them in
the yellow inserts just because it looked
a little more like that color just so that all of those
blue ones would be the exact same bulb
so that you wouldn't be able to notice that they were
slightly different uh so i think we got all
that good uh every bulb appears to be working i'm going
to look underneath there's some bulbs too
or something just trying to make sure that's all
right and then uh we need to test all
of the switches just to make sure every little thing
on this game is working i believe it
is if you didn't catch the previous video we had a bunch
of solenoid issues that ended up being broken wires
and things like that so uh we worked through
it a lot on that we also cleaned it up
a lot i know it looks like there's a lot of black soot
on it all of that is actually what's left
of what we cleaned up um so it's doing pretty good so yeah
let me look underneath the uh back box
the the back part there to make sure everything is lighting
up as it should back there and then we will move
on to uh checking switches okay so i believe we've
got all of the bulbs working the ones
in the back kick panel thing are working everything's working
um this is the little flasher that shines
on the king see if we can get this to fit on there
please don't break on me it didn't break on me it listened to me okay
and then we'll see if we
can get a little flasher
bulb in there please
don't short out on me
mr flasher bulb down in
there far enough i believe it is there
was something about does he kick that when he goes
by or something i think he doesn't quite hit it i don't know we'll see
so uh we got that there's a
bulb there there's a led bulb here okay um so yeah
so we need to go into the um the flasher test
okay so we've got it cycling all of them
so there's that one there and there and there
appears to be one there our new one here
is working look it even lights them up perfect
uh there's one on the hound dog somehow no that's
the same one um the one back there one back there
one back there one up there um there may be some under
the playfield i just don't know about but
it looks like they're all working it's doing all
of them didn't it do it though in the solenoid
test i think too
um how did we do that we went
in the coil test single
coil test let's see what it
labels them as flasher slings times two okay i
think we saw that flasher the elvis spotlight
all right the elvis spotlight is working great
it's brighter than the rest but uh to be honest
shouldn't it be it's the spotlight stepper motor
which is what makes him move flasher what did we
miss we went right by something optional coil okay we don't need
to worry about that upper right
flipper times two yeah
there is two aren't there
one there okay flasher
on the spinner that's and
it doesn't say times two flash
on the back panel taking care
of business that's there in the middle
flasher back panel
times two i think
that's it all right yes
that's all the flashers
okay so let's
put it in switch test and check all those all right
so let's see if we go to previous it should
get us back out of here go to switch test okay
so let's see if i just hit a switch if it will tell
us left out lane cool return lane right return
lane right out lane sometimes you'll do this and
you'll get it say like six different switches
so you know that there's problems if you look on the
up here that shows four of them are actuated plus
the one at the four here plus this one so those
are switches that are closed right now the four
are probably the four balls in the out lane i mean
in the that's interesting so in the out lane there
is a spot for a switch but there's no switch there
so i don't know if that's messed up
or not no we'll check everything and then we'll go past that
okay so there's there is an optical
switch down there i wonder
if that you know that one of those
is the ball sitting in the optical switch
that's one shot other left slingshot other right
slingshot spot note
stand up hound dog
switch left ramp exit
to the heartbreak hotel
the upper play
field left ramp made
top hotel bottom hotel
hotel door right ramp
center saucer orbit oh
when you
hit that it automatically opens the right gate
so you can make the whole orbit that's pretty cool
right orbit
um e c b bottom bumper
left bumper right
bumper looking pretty
good folks uh we've
got the drops if you worry about inner works probably
a couple I'm missing but I don't see
them um okay drops Elvis is in the building
okay that's everything so I want to look at
see how we've got the ones that are permanently stuck
on so four of them are the balls in the
ball trough one of them must be the optic
and the optic in the ball trough uh there's the five drop
targets and then there's one more I wonder what that's all about
so I want to look at the shooter
lane there is a space for a switch but I don't see any switch
so there might be something going on
there okay so i reset the drop targets
and i removed the four balls and those two are still
stuck on so uh one of them it looks like
is the shooter lane looks like that switch is broke or
something it's stuck on the wood or something
so we got to figure that out and then the other one
there is this optic here um i wonder
if it's there i wonder if that's not lined up right
trying to stick my hand
in the way of it
and see if it triggers it
yeah there we go four ball
stacking opto so actually it's working fine all right
so let me look in the manual and see if i
can figure out what those uh two
are that are stuck on it, one I think is going to be the shooter
one of them's probably this one, so that looks like
when Elvis is all the way back he hits a switch
and it's stuck right now, so that's probably that one
so if you look in the manual it shows the
switch matrix
and this one is on the Elvis home switch, that's that one we just found
and this one is on the hound dog switch
so there's something going on with that sucker
where is the out the uh shooter lane switch, there it
is, so we got a problem there, we got to look at
it next I guess, so the top one's the Elvis home switch
this bottom corner one is this hound dog
switch, it's acting up
a little bit, if I hit it
it works but it's I don't
know if it's shorting
out or if it's partially engaged I try
to unplugging it, if I unplug it it goes out okay
so if I lift up and I think the switch is bent
so basically right now the switch is on, oh I see
what's going on, when you the switch is wired backwards on purpose
so when it goes up the
switch is off and when it goes down the switch is engaged
so it's supposed to be like that, so it's
it's supposed to be on and when you hit it it literally knocks them up
in the air and like if
i was to hold it in the switch would be off
so that's how it's supposed to be so it's normally
wired um closed that makes sense all right
so we're good with those so we need to mess with the
uh shooter lane one okay so i took the switch loose
and the little actuator was broke on it so
this stick this wire sticks up through the play field
and that's what the ball rolls over to push
down this blade to make the switch
work you can see so this one
was missing broken off put a new
one on it got it doing its thing now you can uh you can buy
those switches new too and i think
you can buy the little wire new as well
so that should have been the problem with that so i'm
gonna mount it back in there how it goes
and we'll see if that has repaired that problem there is
some lane wear for sure in this thing it's
been played oh lordy about shocked me uh the switch is
working the auto eject uh uh just happened okay
so i guess we don't need to go into switch test
my finger can tell you for sure somebody mentioned
on one of the other videos that they uh they heard
that the music from this was from a uh bootleg
elvis concert well i don't know it's it's certainly
licensed elvis presley enterprises is got
a copyright here you know obviously it's going
to be licensed um and uh yeah it is from a live concert
but i kind of i kind of like that i mean
you know the game is like you're playing
at a concert you know there's an encore up here and
all this so it's it's that's what Elvis
is all about isn't it his live performances so yeah
it does do some of his concert music
and it's not from one of the the big concerts that were released
um as one of his big things
or like a little Aloha from Hawaii or anything like that
um but I like that I would have done
that if they could have picked anything I think it's cool that
they use the concert that people don't get to hear that much
and kind of wrap the game around it by
the way this game was designed by Steve Ritchie
the king of pinball is his nickname right so I've
got a the flyer over here that he autographed it says uh
the king of pinball meets the king of
rock and roll let me show it
to you I can't get it off
the wall okay I got it off the wall
dust off of it a little bit here many years ago
Steve Ritchie I think was on the outs or something
with Stern I can't remember he might have told him
to go screw himself anyway he uh you could
buy stuff on his um personal website
and so I bought this from him which is one of the flyers
or it might just be a printing of the flyer I don't know
but it's autographed by Steve um and
it says Elvis Presley the king of pinball meets the king of rock
and roll so this has been hanging
on my wall here in the shop
when we first opened our store it would have been about 2009 um we just
needed some decor so I bought this he was selling
these at the time for like 30 or 40 dollars
or something like that, and I bought it off of him,
and hung it on the wall, just so that we'd
have some cool stuff hanging on the wall,
and so it's been hanging on the wall ever since, so 17
years, it looks a little faded now that I look at it,
so maybe it's just a print or something,
but it's pretty cool, so I guess we'll try out the game a little bit,
there's no glass on it,
Steve Ritchie would be the first person to tell you
that a game plays better with the glass on it,
and I'm serious about that, and one time in an interview,
he said that back at Williams in
the day they would take the play fields
and screw them into the the boards on the side just to make
them more solid he said they played a lot better
and i don't know how to play anyway so and the
game won't start what the there we go now it may block some
of this because of the copyright stuff
we've still got to paint elvis's face too by the way
we're just looking for little issues that pop
up. They got a voiceover guy
that sounds like Capone
and it plays CC Ryder
when you start all
the time. But that's right there's something weird
with the flippers I want to look at.
The right one you have to push in farther than the left one
so the switch needs adjusting or
something.
Extra ball is lit.
Yes sir.
Ball one is locked.
Oh hell. It's kind
of hard to get two
shots at that ball sometimes depending
on what it hits i like the old school animation on the dmd
i didn't do too good all right
so i'm going to see
if i can figure out what's up with the
the flipper switches see if they're slightly off
and also i'm going to um oh we need to touch up
his mouth all right so i checked out the switches
the one on the right was just adjusted a little
farther out so i adjusted it a little farther
in so elvis here needs some help um i'm going to
clean off his hands they just look
a little messy i don't know if that's just dust and dirt
the microphone it looks like maybe has broken at some point
but if you watch whenever it does it
now it doesn't actually hit him anymore they only go up like
this you know they don't go
like the thing has been hitting him
but it looks like it was whatever was however they had it
before like it doesn't do it now
so uh it looks like the top of the microphone is slightly
different so i don't know if they've repaired
that or what you can actually buy this still
this this molding
but he has two prop three problems one he's kind of dirty looking so i
need to clean off his skin tone there two
the black on his lips um is because the the skin
tone has been knocked off the molding itself was black
and then three he's cross-eyed now i don't
know how that happened
but he didn't come on people that ain't right i mean somebody did that
as just a way to mock him i think that's wrong now uh
if you look at all the other versions of
this pinball machine he's not cross-eyed
so i don't know why our particular doll is cross-eyed
but um i guess i'll try to touch that up with a white with some white
and black paint i don't
know we'll see if we can make him not cross-eyed
so this is going to be a very simple touch-up
using a toothpick or something if i can find
a toothpick something like a toothpick so i'm
try to i'm going to try to wipe him down first
to clean it up his hands and stuff a little bit
and then i'm going to use something a skin tone color
that's some something similar to that and
then a uh a toothpick with maybe a little white paint
on it a little black paint on it to make
him less cross-eyed i think it's horrible i don't
think it's right elvis and then they left you like
it i just don't think it's right i have some paint here
the color is camel and it seems to match the
closest that i've got to his skin tone it might be a little dark
but since it's just a little bit
maybe you won't be able to see the difference i
was getting a little uh little dental work
there i mean that would be embarrassing
to hit yourself in the face with a microphone
let's see if we can get anywhere you probably
can't see it too good sorry i'm left-handed
round two elvis you know elvis
was all about fashion and looking
good which isn't necessarily
a vain thing not necessarily vanity nothing wrong
with wanting to look your best especially if
you're famous i saw something recently
of all people Miley Cyrus talking about
that and she
said that um she um she doesn't let fans take pictures
with her she said that sometimes you
know she's going through the airport or something
and she just uh she's on she doesn't mind talking
to people and stuff but she doesn't want
to let them take a picture because she might not be
looking her best and she kind of presents
an image where she wants to look a certain way and blah blah
and I'll bet Elvis was the same
so I'll bet he would be very happy that we just fixed his mouth
now he doesn't look quite as cross-eyed
for some reason now that we've made that look less goofy
so let me see if I can get some just a little bit of white paint
and move his the iris of his eye a
little bit so this white part I think is gonna be the trickiest
because it's just a little tiny spot
and you don't really want to get it on anything
but his eyeball see if I can get just a little
bit of white on there unfortunately a lot of my
paint has dried up some of it not all of it and
my eyesight
is not as good
as it used
to be but we'll
see what we can
do hold still
Elvis got a
little bit of it on its cheek
is there any white there i can't tell
if i even got it on what we
were trying to do gotta try it
again Elvis all right so that makes
them look a little creepy
and i accidentally gave him gray hairs
he really wouldn't like that i'll bet
the good thing about acrylic paint is you can wipe it off with
does it look any better i think we need
to give them a little more of an eyeball now
and i think
it'll make them look less uh cross-eyed
so let me get just a little bit of black paint i've got a
little black uh paint pen paint marker that i can probably
do that with i've got these little Posca
acrylic paint pens but we just need
the smallest little bit
that come out all right i think it did
that's a little better isn't it what do you think i like
that i need to if i could clean off his
cheek just a little bit more to get rid
of that little hint of white i think we'd be done all
right so we got the instruction cards on and here
is his face you tell me what do you think now
remember you're looking from up here i could obviously tell he
was cross-eyed before uh we
fixed up his smirk so that's good like don't look about
the same as they're about the same right
and here's a close-up of his face
so you can see if i got him cross-eyed fixed his cross-eyed
i would say his right eye
or his left eye looks as good as his right eye so i don't
if i could if i could ink in his eye shadow
or his eyeliner a little bit better it'd be a little
better but i don't have the ability to do that that's
awful small but i think that looks pretty
good his mouth that certainly looks
a lot better there's actual uh some of the stuff is gone off
of it so i like you know it doesn't have
the the it doesn't have the uh the sculpt that it should
but it's the best we can do folks looks
a lot better i think worth all the trouble okay so i
think we're about done we need to work on the cabinet
a little bit we need to uh put new leg
levelers on it we need to try to clean that up
a little bit that wear is pretty bad right there
make it look a little better um and that's about it
so we'll play it a little bit and uh we'll
have joey cosmetically fix up the cabinet a little bit
and it's about ready to go i think
okay so we touched it up a little bit we got rid of the topper thing
or piece of the topper that
was still on the top it wasn't an official topper it
was just something somebody had taped on the
top of the cabinet and everything seems to be playing good
so we'll give it a little test play
now it plays his music really strongly
in this which means it's probably going to hit some
copyright strikes which means part of this video
is going to disappear so if you only see a little
bit of the gameplay that's
because youtube if you don't know how that works i'll explain it real
quick okay so we just made what a 30 40 minute video about
this working on this pinball machine
if i play seven seconds of one
of elvis's songs now elvis doesn't get the money by the way i guess
his granddaughter gets some of it so that's good
but um if i play seven seconds of a song they take
all of the ad money that this video makes all
of the uh youtube premium money that this video makes
and they give it to whoever the copyright holder is,
okay, of the whole video.
So the other alternative to that would be,
well, we don't run any ads on the video.
You can't do that.
YouTube runs ads on.
If I get anybody to watch this video, YouTube will put ads on it
and then just keep all the money.
So if anybody's going to get the money, I should get the money
because I made the video, right?
But if you play just seven seconds of a clip of a song,
they will take all of the revenue for the whole video
and give it to someone else now we're not talking about a ton of money
but it's you know it's enough
that i keep making videos by the way
so um it's just a they need to figure that out where if for
the last five minutes of the video
of a hour-long video it plays music give people the revenue from
that part of the video but it would probably
be very complicated to keep track of all that so they
just screw over the whoever created the video all right
but that has nothing to do with elvis
himself so uh let's play it a little bit i'm not any good at it
but we'll knock the ball around
yeah so just the melody is probably going
to get us copyright struck
i like the little the little uh
the girls yelling his name that's pretty cool
so the goal is you're trying to do certain things
so let's go over them featured hits completed
start all five song modes the hound dog shoot
the hound dog target blue suede shoes shoot the
center loop with the upper right flipper.
Heartbreak hotel, shoot the balls into the
heartbreak hotel on the upper play field.
Jailhouse rock, shoot the balls into the
jailhouse eject hole. All shook up, shoot the all shook up shots.
Gifts from Elvis completed,
shoot the Elvis drop targets to light gifts
from Elvis on the top eject hole. Top 10 countdown
completed, shoot the lit music notes to advance the top 10 countdown.
Skill shot, plunge the ball
into the WLBS top lanes or Elvis drop targets mystery ball
and the pop bumpers will change
channels until all three tvs match okay extra ball shoot
the right ramp to light extra ball
tcb complete tcb to double all scoring encore spell encore
the letters lit in the back panel
to earn an extra multi-ball after the game i think
that's like a holdover because it was on
e and c while we were working on it
and then somehow we've turned on o okay see that says
rock again there we go
no folks i like
the live version better
i just think it fits
the pinball
better what
is gonna get
me bigger than
hell look he's
wearing the uh
he's wearing
the comeback
special
jumpsuit
too while
he dances
lost
a couple
of them
i missed
the shot
and i don't
know that
my hound
dog is
working
right it
is working
okay i need
to do he's
working i
need to do
blue suede
shoes
do the
heartbreak
hotel
it
didn't
go all
the
way
missed
it i
thank
you
elvis
yeah
it's
copyright strike the crap out of me
so the reason the video was likely real choppy just now was
because i was cutting out all the songs one more
game if you press the flippers while it's in the
track mode he says things to me it won't let you do it over
and over again but it's like if i hit
the left flipper yes
and if you hit the right flipper i won't do it i think yeah you have to
wait 60
seconds
or something
all right
let's start
another game
i keep i'm
slow on the
trigger we
started
that
one at
least
yeah
it is
missed
it
again
let's
try
that
again
right
folks
there
you
You go, you'll have to find some video
with someone playing it that's better at it than I am.
And they've probably done gave me 15 copyright strikes.
This may be our last video if they copyright strike the crap out of us.
Now, if it weren't different, like if Elvis himself called me and said,
hey, brother, why don't you take that down?
You know, I'm trying to make a living out here
and I don't want people just stealing my songs.
You know what I'm saying? And I'd say,
yes, sir, Mr. Presley. No problem.
I'll take it down. But that's not what's going to happen.
It's going to be some dude at freaking, you know, CBS or something.
i don't know anyway folks i hope you enjoyed
the video what a cool game we're going to put this up
for sale now you may be wondering what's something like
this cost um we're going to we're going to
advertise it for sale for 64.99 it's a fairly expensive one
when it was new i think it was
about 5900 and um um i think that's about what it's worth
that's you know you can get them cheaper
than that but we're retail
so we're not going to be the cheapest one you can find but we're also
not going to be the most expensive one you can find.
So it's going to be about $64.99. Now,
we'll probably sell it by Christmas, I would think.
We're a couple months ahead of Christmas
right now. This time of year,
people often are looking for big purchases. So maybe someone is
an Elvis fan and they'll be wanting this thing.
So we will see you on the next video. We have a
lot more games, of course, we're going to work on.
We just got three EM pinball machines in off of
a gentleman that he needs us to fix for him that are freaking cool.
Three really cool games. So
One of them is a pitching bat.
One of them is a really cool pool game.
And the other one is a big chief.
So that'll be cool.
So we've got those to work on.
We've still got a bunch of other stuff we're going to work on.
So plenty more videos coming.
And we have made a lot of playlists here on our channel.
So we'll pop one of these playlists of some of Steve Ritchie's games
that he's designed, not just this Elvis pinball machine,
but some other ones that he's designed.
We'll put the playlist up here on the screen, and you can check it out.
there are a couple hundred playlists on our channel now
so make sure to check those out
if you haven't seen them and we've got them sorted by topic
so hopefully everybody will
enjoy that and we will see you on the next video thank you very much
