Well, there's certainly a lot going on, including the weather.
I mean, driving from Edison here down to Belford, dramatic difference.
No wind at all in Edison.
Here, it's like we drove into a different country.
But that's another story.
But if you're heading to a ferry this morning,
you'll want to bundle up because it is crazy.
But, yeah, this has been an issue for quite some time, since September,
since New York Waterway took over the ferry service here in Belford.
Now, Monmouth County officials agreed to that deal.
with New York Waterway,
signing that contract to change the ferry service from C-Street.
Now, since that change, riders as well
as elected officials have not been pleased with the service,
especially with it making riders late in getting into the city.
Then there's the incident earlier this month that we covered for you
in which a New York Waterway ferry struck the pier as it was leaving,
shattering glass on that bottom level of the ferry
and forcing some of the riders to move upstairs.
and the boat continued into Manhattan
with that broken glass the Coast Guard investigating that
incident well according to nj.com a petition signed
by 500 commuters demanding New York
Waterway improve the service the petition
was given to the county commissioners just before
it met with New York Waterway leaders Wednesday
to discuss the situation and now County Commissioner
Director Thomas Arnone says beginning November
1st New York Waterway has 30 days to make
improvements and meet all contractual obligations
or the contract will be terminated now nj.com
also reporting that and New York Waterway
officials have said they have worked with
county officials to identify meaningful ways
to improve on-time performance as well as addressing
riders concerns now some changes already made
include beginning November 2nd the 6:30 a.m. ferry
will move to 6:20 a.m. to hopefully get riders into the city on time
and the evening uh change
as well a 6:15 p.m. departure will be available
from pier 79 monday through friday to help get
riders back home in a timely fashion
so we'll see how that works out we'll see how county
commissioners deal with that we spoke
with thomas arnone here uh after the incident with the broken
glass and we'll see how riders feel about it
as we move forward again received many messages in
these past couple of weeks on my socials
from riders saying they should have never changed
from c-streak we'll see how it plays out keep you posted
