Video Summary
AI GeneratedMilwaukee is buzzing with excitement as the Brewers prepare for the World Series, complemented by local highlights including upscale dining at Il Cervo, senior wellness initiatives at New Perspective, and festive Halloween hosting tips. The city is uniting through sports, community support, and a focus on quality of life for all ages.
Good morning. Good morning, everybody.
I've been saying all morning on Wake Up, we have BFE.
Big Friday.
Come on, baby.
Because it's World Series Game 1 Eve.
Yes, it is.
I stole a pom-pom from Donovan because that's how excited I was.
I love that.
And I stole a Kringle.
That's how excited I am.
I didn't steal anything, but maybe your energy.
How about that?
That's right. I love it.
These are so cute, though.
These are the pocket Kringles.
Donovan, you had one of them earlier, right?
I split one with Nicola.
though they're very good they look good she
and i could barely finish the rest of the show that
part of the show because we're so focused on eating
and just like relishing in the moment
oh my gosh it's just some of the excitement
though as you're prepping for your own parties
every surrounding business there's something Brewers
that you can just get so festive love
it because primarily you know we know what it's like
to live here the good food that exists here
the restaurants but i'm thrilled
to see other people experience what we already know and love
about Milwaukee yes i know come
to Milwaukee yeah yeah check us out we're cool people we are
got a lot of heart yes we do yes we do well all eyes
of course are on the Brewers ahead of game
lineup the World Series
so Derica, she has been out at American Family Field all morning getting
us hyped up and you unveiled a new banner
the last time we saw you big news yeah so before i get to
the banner. Can someone save me a pocket Pringle? I got you.
I've been out here all morning. All I had was an apple.
So put it in the fridge and put my name on it.
Hopefully it's there when I return. But you know what's here now?
This banner. Take a look right here.
Just moments ago, they unveiled that banner up there.
It says World Series 2026. And look at our guys.
Our team is up there for everyone to see who's coming here now.
Folks have been filing in this morning. Today is media
day so we're having media from all over
the country come here they're going to be talking
to the players coaches on both sides uh just getting
a little insight before the game we're
going to have our crew here too lily's inside
um i know ted perry's taking some questions from the
fans of you know there's six pack of questions to ask to them
so this is just a really big day that
we're you know experiencing here in the ballpark
so i'm okay missing a Pringle um i'll get them
soon enough i do want to talk about what else
is happening right now because it just hit 1003
which means moments ago but the tickets are open
so i'm looking ahead to monday and tuesday because
i think we need to prepare for that so check this out
the games we're having some watch parties here
at AmFam Field so the tickets just went on sale
at 10 a.m for games three and four obviously the
crew is on the road on monday and tuesday
so the watch party tickets will cost you 15 bucks a piece
you'll have to pay for parking i think that's ten dollars
but it's going to be electric inside of
here so if you can get those tickets i would
say after you watch real or maybe during our
commercial break then sign on and grab them
um if there is a game five that information will be
announced at a later date
so this party is going to be bumping obviously here tomorrow for the
World Series and Saturday as well
but it's going to continue throughout the next couple of games
too and speaking of parties the Deer District is having a party uh
so that's happening tomorrow
as well a lot of teams all over have
been adjusting their schedules including the Bucks
to accommodate fans who want to watch
the party happening here at AmFam Field so after their home
opener at three o'clock they have a party going on in the Deer District
so that will be right after
the Bucks home opener which shifted up to three o'clock
because of the World Series so that's just
going to kind of be in that common area
and i think they may have a giveaway as well for a pair
of tickets I will double check on them
but speaking of the Bucks I have to
always think about Giannis right I know he's in Miami
but you know he's still
has Milwaukee in his heart the two-time MVP
is still a minority owner of the
Bucks here so we asked him you know just kind of his feelings about this
milestone here that we are dealing with with the Brewers.
It's incredible. I'm so happy for the team.
It's been a lot of years in the works.
Mr. Margot Ignacio and his family
and his partners, they've
really invested in that city, in that team.
They've done a great job developing players.
I wish them back home the best.
And I love what the coach said.
But, you know, the man had a lot of Hall of Famers,
but we had a lot of gamers.
That's a quote that will, you know, last forever.
And, of course, you know, Milwaukee's support
and pride still is resonating.
So it's great to hear from him.
And also great to hear from all of the connections,
you know, beyond just the fans to the Milwaukee Brewers.
And that also include Bob Uecker's family.
I know this is bittersweet for the team to be having this milestone.
you passed away last year
but his presence is really being felt among us in the city his family
did release a statement which i wanted to kind
of share it with you guys it says in part while we
could never speak for him this is certain milwaukee the brewers
and the fans meant everything to bob
whenever we gather at a packed stadium a neighborhood bar
or a living room with the radio turned all the
way up we know he is right here cheering alongside of us
and it goes on to thank the team thank the
fans thank the management
and it ends with Milwaukee let's get loud let's do this together
let's win our way and I think those are the words
that you know kind of give us chills that we all
need to hear and I really think the players are going
to take that to heart too and give them the oomph
that they need going into tomorrow's game i really love
that because i spoke with yesterday josh
mauer who's one of the broadcasters for the brewers
and i asked him like hey like you're
gonna be in the same booth euchre would have
been in if he were here physically like are you carrying
his spirit he's like absolutely we're doing this for him for his fans
and the people who love the
brewers it's meaningful in so many ways yeah yeah
and it's so meaningful because you can almost get
the chills when you're thinking about just how meaningful
this is and this is spanning
generations um it's just amazing i i'm excited i'm excited
to say the least guys i cannot wait
that parking lot behind you filled up
with tailgaters derica it's gonna be insane tailgating
a world series i mean it's you everybody can say
that yes there it is thanks derica oh man and
derica has been changing into so many different
outfits throughout the morning she's had like
all of her brewers gear underneath all of her like heavier stuff
because it was colder this morning
and so she every time we'd come back
to her for another hit it'd be a new outfit a new shirt
a new hat you know yeah yeah got the time she's got
the she does she's got the swag the time the
talent triple threat you know what i have
been actually looking into brewers earrings i do not
you love a good thing i've noticed you do like them
so i i wonder if i can get those by tomorrow
Probably not, but we'll see.
Well, you could for sure at least get like
a baseball earring, don't you think?
That's true.
We're going to figure this out.
We'll figure this out.
Fingers crossed for the Brewers one, though.
Yes.
And we know everybody's going to be wanting
to watch the big game, game one of the series,
if they cannot go to American Family Field.
So we know there are so many of them,
though, announced around our community,
and it's hard to keep track of them all.
Yeah, there are a lot.
Especially one place, because there are so many.
Luckily, look no further, because we here at Fox 6 have you covered
with kind of a watch party finder, if you will.
There is a website that you can go to to find a party near you.
We spoke with the co-founder of what's called the Crew-tober,
which is kind of a one-stop shop for those watch parties.
Here's what he had to say about kind of coming up with this idea.
Milwaukee is a wonderful sports town,
and we all like to have fun watching the games together.
So I figured this is going to be a pretty epic time
to come back, even if I don't have tickets.
So I decided to build a tool called Crew-tober.
and lists as many watch parties across Wisconsin, including Milwaukee,
and soon to be nationally, so that people like me can find a place
to find their crew and hang out and watch the game together.
Love Taylor.
So we had the chance to chat with him yesterday on Fox 6 Now.
He is from Milwaukee originally, but he lives in Denver now.
Oh, wow.
And he is still, if you couldn't tell
from the Brewers gear that he's wearing
and the Packers gear in the background,
he's still all about the Wisconsin sports.
I love it.
And so he knew for sure he was going
to come back to Milwaukee for the World Series.
He tried really hard to get tickets.
It was in his cart.
Before he could finish the checkout process, he lost his ticket.
Oh, that's hurt.
And so I love that he's channeled
the frustration of I can't be at AmFam into,
well, how can I help other people who also can't be at AmFam?
And, yeah, he's created this website, Crewtober,
where he's putting all of the watch parties.
He's coming for games one and two,
so he's going to go to some of these bars.
Oh, sweet.
But what I love is it's not only here in Wisconsin.
If you go to Crewtober, I mean,
he's found places in California, in Chicago, and Denver.
That are supporting the brewers?
That are for the brewers.
So if you're like him and you've moved somewhere else,
but you still want that opportunity
and maybe you can't come to Milwaukee,
just go to Crewtober and hopefully you can find one where you are.
That's huge.
How did he find other states?
Did he just call around?
So he has done a lot of research.
He said he posted on Reddit, too.
Okay, okay.
that's how he's gotten some
but also these bars on the website have an opportunity to like submit
what they're doing and they go through it
and validate it and put it on the website
and i said taylor this sounds like a ton of work
that's a job, is this a labor of love and he said
yeah i've poured a lot of hours into this website
but again for him he's also waited 44 years for
this moment he said the last time i went to the world series he was two
so like this is his chance
oh my gosh he's got he went in 1982 as a two-year-old
no i don't think he actually oh oh i
I don't know if a parent brought them.
The last time the Brewers went to a World Series.
I know, yeah.
That's what I thought you meant.
I thought maybe his mom or dad took them.
That's what I thought you meant.
Yes, okay, well, maybe, maybe not.
That's super cool.
That is so nice.
Yes.
I feel like it's a summary of this World Series,
which is that everyone is doing what they can to help each other out
and to be a part of the moment, and here he is.
I have some, you know, notes out.
I don't know how to make a website.
I could not have done this.
But Taylor was like, this is what I can do to help out.
And I love this, this vibe.
Oh, that's super cool because many people won't be,
majority of the people who we know
and love won't be able to.
They're so expensive.
We need these watch parties.
We need these watch parties.
Come on.
All right, good stuff.
Well, we're going to keep the good times rolling.
We'll have your Brewers coverage all day long.
Yeah, there it is.
Got the energy coming along with it.
I'll pretend I have it.
I'll share my part.
You can raise the roof, Steph.
That's so cool.
We can still do that.
We can do that.
We're millennials.
Okay, more Brewers coverage will be coming up at 4 o'clock
and 5 o'clock in those newscasts,
followed by a Fox 6 World Series Media
Day special starting at 6 o'clock.
And we know Lily Zhao will be there, TVV,
likely all of our sports crew will be there,
getting you prepared for every inch
of the World Series starting with Game 1.
Yes, Ted Perry will also be at today's media event.
He will be taking your questions that you submit through
this QR code to the manager and the Brewers players.
Again, just scan the QR code, tell us what
you want to know, what you want to ask.
Ted will review those questions
and pick some to ask to all those guys out there on the Brew Crew team.
You can catch some of those responses on our broadcast for Fox 6 News,
where we will be broadcasting the World Series.
You get to talk, so I get to pump.
There you go.
And this Friday, our coverage ahead of World Series Game 1 starts at 4.
Then we will have a special Brewers edition of Fox 6 News at 5.
First pitch, you guys, it's at 7.
We're getting so much closer, then stay with us after
the game for a special edition of Fox 6 News.
There you go.
So much to look forward to.
Also something to look forward to,
breathtaking views and a great menu to back it up.
Nicola is at Il Cervo, and we're talking to her next.
All
right.
From pizza to pasta to breathtaking views of Milwaukee,
Il Cervo has upped the game when it comes to dining downtown.
Nicola is there this morning checking out some
of their new additions to the menu.
Hey, Nicola.
Hey, guys. Good morning to you.
The timing for this segment could not be more perfect
because this place is called Il Cervo, which means deer in Italian.
Perfect name for it because we are right here
in the Deer District at the top floor of the Trade Hotel.
Obviously, this place is super busy all year round.
We know that they have an awesome rooftop,
a great bar, a fabulous menu.
But they're especially busy this time of year
because the Bucs are playing.
Okay, so I'm so excited now to join you live from the Il Cervo kitchen.
Not my kitchen.
This one has way fancier stuff.
And I'm joined live by the chef himself who's responsible for coming up
with all of the incredible, tasty, decadent Italian recipes.
Wow, thank you.
that you can find right here all year long,
but obviously your fall menu is probably the most important.
And again, this is Chef Mike Ciaro.
Good morning to you, Chef.
Thank you for having me. I appreciate it.
Okay, so what is your favorite menu
to create all year here at Il Cervo?
Well, I'd say late summer and early fall
because you get all the late squashes from summer into your hard ones,
which is pumpkins, butternut, red curries,
and then we have all the great mushrooms
that are coming into play right now.
Comfort food.
Oh, those look beautiful.
So we are adding quite a few mushrooms to the menu.
So we have a mushroom pizza, mushroom Bianca pizza.
We're gonna be making a gnocchi today
with wild mushrooms and Madeira.
Let me just grab this. Amazing.
So yeah, guys, this morning,
we're not seeing how the sausage is made.
We're seeing how the gnocchi is made.
Yes.
Can I say that this is a health food?
Because we're talking about a lot of vegetables
this morning, Chef.
So we are talking about a lot of vegetables,
but I'll be honest, Italian food is...
Delicious.
It is quite delicious,
but there is quite a bit of cream,
quite a bit of cheese in there as well.
As the Lord intended.
Okay, so how do you mix up these mushrooms here?
And what kind of mushrooms are they?
So I have a hen of the woods, cremini,
some portobellos, and some oyster mushrooms as well.
Beautiful.
I've been sauteing them with a little bit of onion
and garlic and olive oil.
We're going to finish with a little bit of Madeira.
What's Madeira?
Madeira is a fortified wine.
Wonderful.
I love that flick of the wrist there.
You know?
So I just want to deglaze with that a little bit.
I'm going to hit this pan for a little show.
There we go.
And I'm going to drop our gnocchis in.
You guys, this is so cool.
I feel like I'm at one of those hibachi restaurants
where they make the food for you at the table.
They do.
Because I'm getting a show here.
So we have our mushrooms that have been sauteed.
They're about to finish. We're
gonna mount it with obviously a little bit of butter.
I have some fresh oregano
that's gonna go in to finish right at the end.
And as the gnocchis have come
out, in one minute here. This looks amazing.
So we make everything in-house. We have
focaccia that we make in-house.
We have sourdough we make in-house. It's called
ciabatta in Italian. All of our pastas are made in-house.
Pizza dough, everything. So from desserts
the sauces to fresh gnocchis as well are all made in-house.
And it really shows in your product and
the flavors that you bring out. It really tastes fresh.
Now, Chef, I'm so honored to be... Oh, a little
pasta water in there. Okay. A little pasta water.
A little cheese. Some mount. Yeah. I'm very honored
to be in the kitchen with you, because you're kind
of a big deal. I did some reading on you.
Yeah, you're a very well-known cook, or Chef Mike,
I should say, is a very well-known cook
in Chicago, known in particular for this kind of cooking,
farm-to-table. What makes you so
passionate about farm-to-table cooking over,
you know, other kinds of cooking?
Well, I'm just passionate about cooking, number one,
but farm-to-table is about more supporting
local and artisans as well
so being at the top of the trade hotel we're all about trades or
craftsmanship so being a farmer being someone that makes sausage
or bread and all that it's
it's to me it's all about the love of of giving to to other people
and feeding and feeding so
and it really shows in your product here you can see just how carefully
this one dish is made this
This is the kind of service, the kind of quality
that you can expect every time you come here to El Cherubal.
I have to ask you, Chef, I'm sure you're busy all year round,
but Bucks season has to be really busy for you guys.
It's the best season.
So, number one, we've got basketball right across the street,
but just lively entertainment with people coming in every day
and just enjoying the end of the patio season
and also our wonderful bar up front.
It is fantastic.
All right, Chef Mike Sheeran, thank you so, so much.
This is a look, guys, at the finished product,
the gnocchi, which looks absolutely beautiful.
Oh, boy, now he's going to plate it.
Oh, you've got to try some.
Nicola, really quickly, is he making anything in honor
of the World Series, Game 1 and Game 2, being here in our city?
We're going to finish with a little bit of...
Oh, Don, that's a good question.
Okay, so I have a question, Chef Mike, from one of my co-anchors.
He was curious if you're doing anything special
for the World Series on your menu.
Well, we do have some new sausages that are,
we have a couple of bratwurst sausages.
Oh, perfect for the brewers.
Yep, you got to do that with the brew crew.
And we'll probably do a couple pizzas as well.
Amazing. Oh my gosh. Yeah, okay, so Don, there you have it.
They're doing a special line of, oh my God, are those truffles?
These are, these are the last of the summer truffles.
Oh my gosh, I love truffles. Okay.
Guys, it's been so fun to show you inside
of the kitchen here at Old Chateau.
They just launched their new fall menu.
It looks delicious, lines up perfectly with the Bucks season.
As we know, their home opener is Friday at 3 p.m.,
but really we have all season to enjoy the food here.
I mean, how lucky are we to have such a lovely,
classy, sophisticated restaurant
so close to the Deer District?
I mean, it kind of gives you the best of both worlds here.
Yeah, absolutely.
Thanks, Nicola.
It looked incredible.
Yes, delicious.
Yeah, perfection there.
All right, well, frightfully fun.
All the essentials for your Halloween gathering that's coming up next.
Good news,
you guys.
Halloween hosting, it does not have to be a horror story.
It certainly does not, thanks to lifestyle expert Jen Munoz,
who has decor, treats, and gear that'll make your party look planned
without taking over your whole week.
Good morning, Jen.
Thanks for being here with us.
Yeah, good morning.
I think the only thing scary at my house during Halloween
is how fast all these treats are going
to disappear. Oh, it might get scary in here
in just a few minutes. They're going to disappear
as well from here. Thanks for sending all this fun stuff.
Yeah. You know, when I do a party,
the first thing I like to think about is the photo op.
So this balloon, any of the heirloom balloons,
this one's actually available on Amazon. They're air.
So you just blow it right up and then it's
great for a photo opportunity and it's like five feet tall
so like a really great um way to have a
good photo op that doesn't cost a lot of money um we've
also got a few Jack Skellingtons I know
you've got them there too one of them is a little light up guy
so if you like push the little button
he lights up he could go on your porch he could go on your table
and then we've got one for the
trick-or-treaters as well and those are available at CVS
so you can pop over there and grab one
oh that's awesome and then you know we've got
the the door covered um and then we've got the
dance floor so we've got our sweet little mummy we got
to see this guy he's gonna dance for us
he's got the whole like shoulder action going
the kids are gonna i'll say
the kids we're adults everyone's gonna love this oh my kids
would love this i'm already entertained i think he's really fun
to be able to like you know you
can get the kids dancing you can get the everybody can kind
of jump in and do the thriller dance so
he's like he really knows how to move
his hips he does he's got the shoulder thing going as well
you know like the the zombies do in thriller
so oh that's amazing that's perfect um something else
jen that hayley and i were looking
at are these little like sensory jars and you were saying this
could be cool for trick-or-treaters even yeah
the little pair play there's they come in a set so you
can do two you can pick yours i got you guys got
three i got three i think so these are just little
jars that have all kinds of different um activities inside them
so you know for the kids who just want
to fidget there's all kinds of different themed things
um this is also great like if you're trying
to set up your party and you need to keep little little hands busy yes
but i also like to play with
them too. Just, you know, when you're sitting on your computer
and you can kind of fidget a little
bit, um, they've got sand in there.
They have all kinds of different things, but the two jar bundle
is just $20 and they're made right here in the USA
and they're a women owned business. Oh,
I love that. You can buy yourself a few little pieces
of peace of mind, you know? Yes. I love
this idea too, because I just feel like, again,
this will be a time killer for kids if you need
to do something but even
for adults i feel like we're always yeah looking for you know some way
of getting some tension out or stress out
and this is such a fun and on theme way to do that
this halloween yeah i agree and they're great for party favors too
so if you're having some kids over
like that would be a really fun thing to be able
to put in the goodie bag and kids will play with
it for i'm sure months hopefully years
to come yes i can attest to that for sure all right let's
move on to my favorite the treats candy yes yes
so Hotel Chocolat sent um some of their
boo box bundle i'm not going to try to say
that three times fast um they have carvin the pumpkin
Cryptopher the vampire
and wingston the bats um these are all frightfully delicious of course
um they have fillings like salted caramel praline for the grown-ups
who keep reading that
raiding the trick-or-treat bowl um and then there's
also a box of chocolates that are shaped
as well um and they're all absolutely delicious
and these are just huge are you kidding me
i'm looking at a tiny little ghost chocolate
this is so cute they are equally as delicious
as they are cute so i'm all about presentation
but you gotta back it up once you put it in your
mouth so true exactly so true i
also know people love these little mini cupcakes that you brought
us as well from uh Baked by Melissa, yeah I
am a huge fan of Baked by Melissa, I have worked with
them for years, um she has such an amazing powerful story
but they are bite-sized, you don't even have
to feel guilty about eating the cupcakes, um they come in boxes of 25
or you can do the little four
packs to be able to, again you could
do that for trick-or-treaters, you could do it as a party favor
um you could send, and she's got
the spooky tie-dye, there's a green goblin and my personal
favorite is buried alive
and he's the one with the little bear sitting on top, oh these are so
adorable, they're all done
so perfectly, they really are, yeah they are, and then my next favorite
coming in is Olive and Cocoa, yes they have
these gorgeous wooden boxes that come, presentation is
beautiful, and then there's all sorts of themed sweet treats
so whether you have the spellbound
sweets crate or the happy haunting crate
these are great to be able to send to people far away
or to put as a centerpiece on your table
when guests arrive, I'm thinking these may be um headed
to my boys for college
because I won't be able to see them, perhaps that's a great idea to send
them to the friends that you can't see, everything
again looking absolutely delicious, and then I like
this too for maybe the tea drinker in your life
but we're gonna make things a little wicked this
yes what a great idea, Adagio wicked teas
um so finally once the trick-or-treaters are in bed
or if you want to do this beforehand, there's some with caffeine
and there's some without
um but there's a sampler pack for halloween they come
in the halloween themed tins and they have
pumpkin potion those are the the caffeine free ones
um but you can you can have a
little sip of tea and enjoy in the halloween festivities
that way too i love the names of
all of them that is so creative
and such a great idea sip on a little monster mash yeah on october
31st pumpkin potion oh i like it i really appreciate all
the ideas that take the time
out of halloween because i don't know if you know
this but we're really busy next week rooting on
the brewers in the world series and halloween is saturday
so this is great we can order the
things we need and then we can focus on the brewers
this is exactly what we need for us
i love it no nothing spooky here right that's right thank you
so much jen no frights yeah thank
you and that's kind of how i like
to describe real milwaukee yeah me too not too scary nope
we bring all the energy and i'm gonna open
these okay great see you later i'm gonna keep eating my
chocolate we'll have more real milwaukee coming up
here right after this well good morning everybody
welcome back to real milwaukee we are live at il cervo
which means deer in italian perfect
because it's located in the deer district
and this restaurant is so excited for the new buck
season. And with that, they are releasing their brand new fall menu
and it looks absolutely
delicious. We were in the kitchen earlier with Chef Mike.
He's whipped up some other
entrees here that you can enjoy this season.
And now I am so grateful to be joined live by
General Manager Rob Levin. Thank you for being here.
Our pleasure. Thanks for being up here.
Congratulations, of course, on the big home openers tomorrow.
And you guys are about to
get really busy. Yeah, we sure hope so.
I mean, we've got a lot going on in the city, right? We've
got uh brewers finally
which is helping us uh bucks start at home right marquette men's starts
as well which we get because they play across the street
so and then we're jumping into holiday
season so uh thanksgiving time holiday parties christmas
with uh uh santa here cookie uh cookie
um making classes for kids
and whatever over the december month uh december weekend so yeah we're
we've got a lot going on before the end of the year
and then new year's eve is coming up like
right around the corner so i know nobody makes
reservations till three days beforehand but
we will have that going on starting on November 1 for reservations.
So we're really excited about
the next, let's say, 60 days of the year, last 60 days.
Yeah. So much to look forward to. And to me,
this time of year is all about comfort food,
and that is something that you all do so well.
This is the final product of the fully plated gnocchi
that we just saw from Chef Mike Sheeran.
He does such a great job. That's chicken parm.
Yep. Looks amazing as well. And your homemade
sourdough ciabatta. Yeah, focaccia. Yeah, we do.
I think Chef spoke about it earlier. One of the
best things that we do um in this business
in our building i'm sorry is we make everything for the
most part so the gnocchi which he spoke to all
of the bread all the pizza crust and then obviously
with our uh restaurant manager
and bar focused uh mixologist Nicole Dursey who is uh uh makes all
of our cocktails uh we do all of our syrups
in-house we do all of our batching in-house so
we try to make everything as much uh you know
um uh field to table right you know what i mean at
the end of the day whether it's beverage
and or food or just homegrown Midwest
hospitality is what we kind of put ourselves
on yeah and that's what people
in this community love so much okay
so tell me a little bit about the cocktail
that we're taking a look at yeah
so it is a it is the Fiori Rosso it is a
hibiscus syrup you can use any vodka we use Tito's
as our house vodka and then
Then we have a passion fruit liqueur,
which we use you know, which is used in a lot of the
bars.
And then we just, we shake it up
and we put some love into it and we've got a beautiful
flower to showcase it
and it is the perfect cocktail to be with a loved one, to be by
yourself or just stare out of the window
at a night here on the ninth floor in the Deer
District looking over downtown Milwaukee.
I mean, it's so versatile.
It's perfect for anything and anything you want to do.
I love how you took a classic cocktail, Cosmopolitan,
and then kind of gave it your own twist here.
And that's something that guys, you know, they really do well here.
They take, you know, fabulous dishes that maybe you've seen before,
but you haven't seen them quite like this because you really put
your own edge and your own spin on it.
But, you know, not everybody's a cocktail person.
Some people are more into beer and wine.
And I have to compliment you guys.
This is what I call a holiday pourer.
That is generous.
Well, we knew you were coming.
so normally it's not that much so anyone
who's coming don't act like it it's like that all the
time but no it's a normal six ounce
pour but yeah we're definitely wine focused we have over 125
skus from a wine standpoint obviously italian managed
but a lot of stuff from over the globe and
then we try to stay local with some of our beers yes i saw that right
and then obviously we got to
have the italian with the peroni
but yeah we're we're very versatile we have something for everyone
whether it be on the menu from a food standpoint
whether it be on the menu from a beverage
standpoint and again everything is served
with that Midwestern hospitality
right so everyone feels welcome you can
be in a hoodie you can be in a suit just
come in relax enjoy yourself enjoy
the view, it's the best place in downtown
Milwaukee by far to dine in and by yourself
with a loved one like I said
just a just a great great space
to sit back relax whether it be lunch oh
excuse me whether it be happy hour starting at 4 o'clock Sunday through
Friday whether it be dinner service
which is seven days a week starting at
4 p.m till midnight
and on the weekends we do brunch starting at 10 o'clock till 2 o'clock
with our boozy brunch which is a 44 dollar deal
um you get two cocktails you get an entree uh and you
get a bottomless coffee so i mean it seems like
a good deal to me yeah yeah and then you look out
there right so that the the the view is a million dollars
the brunch is 44 you're winning and the
view is included of course the view
is free yeah it's gratis of us yeah exactly so yeah it's a
It's a great place for everything from food,
from beverage, from hospitality, ambiance.
I think this space really checks those boxes pretty perfectly.
Oh, it's spectacular.
I know you guys have been here for, what,
a couple years now since the Trae Hotel.
And obviously, you're still doing so well.
You're so successful.
There's clearly a need for a place like this in the Deer District.
We love in Wisconsin our fun, like, sports bar vibes.
But I think everybody, sometimes you just want to have,
like, a nice, you know, more fine dining experience before
or after you go to a Bucks game.
Yeah, I don't like to use their fine dining.
i think we're polished right we're polished we're elegant
but we're casual also at the same time i
think fine dining gives people this pretension piece
of what we are we're not we're very laid
back we just enjoy having a good time taking care of guests
and producing great product
on all levels of the spectrum and just making people happy
when they walk out feeling like
that was worth it right and then they come back
and they come back and they come back so that's
what we're looking for we need more we want more
and we're ready for more so come on down well
congratulations on this brand new fall menu
that you can get right now is that right yes we are
and we are in that process.
So we're looking probably much bigger for wine, some cocktail
and food, probably the last week of November,
right after the Thanksgiving holiday. So Black
Friday. A reason to go now? Yeah, totally.
Go now and then come again. Perfect. And you will
give patrons a reason to do so. This all, guys, looks amazing.
I can tell you firsthand it smells
even better. This food looks spectacular
and I'm sure that having a lovely beverage to go with it
would only enhance those incredible flavors
um so yeah we are live at El Cheval in the deer
district and they are uh open ready to go
of course for the Bucks season and they would love
to feed you every option looks incredible as i say i don't know
which one i would want a bite
of because i feel like i want a bite
of everything probably one of those spots where everybody gets
something different and then you share i don't want i don't like
to go out with people who all
get the same thing like no oh no because i'm
that shouldn't be allowed you know exactly that's like
It's like an unwritten rule.
It's a menu.
Yeah, you don't need to get something different.
Then we'll just try each other's.
But everyone has to understand, too, like we are sharing.
Right, exactly.
Let's set that from the get-go.
Yes.
Please understand that I'm stabbing my fork in your plate.
Yes.
I'm going to keep that.
I'm just going to start referring to myself as polished.
I love that.
Polished, distinguished.
You know, it's nice.
It's elegant.
It can be casual.
I love that.
It's Haley to a T, actually.
Oh, my gosh.
Guys, what?
you're gonna walk in monday morning with a t-shirt
that says polished there we go there we go but like
not too over polished just like just enough yeah
right yeah right can't overdo it i'm picking up
what he's putting down well we could all use
a little grace we know that uh are getting a new
perspective with some tips for healthy aging that's next right
back everybody to real Milwaukee well wouldn't
we all love a few tips to help us age gracefully i
know i would yes absolutely we've got chef Michael Davis
and Kevin Sardo here from new perspective
with how they help older adults maintain their health
as they age certainly an important topic
today i i would think
so right one of one of the most important conversations we have in our
community yeah well first of all thank you guys
for being here um just what are our tips for um
i guess all ages but especially you know as you get
a little bit older just the simplest tips
for us for for for us is uh you have to talk
to the residents you have to you have to get out in
front of them and see uh what their desires are when
when they're moving before they move in we
actually like to have these conversations with them um just
so that we can understand how to
mold our our menus we change our menus three times
a year we have a dining room menu so we can make
pivots where needed additions subtractions
and then also to working with our vendors and our
dietitians usually with me i'm on the menu development team
so usually where the menu
starts definitely that's not where it ends
because the dietitian has scratched off so many things
because of you know dietary needs and sodium
and things like that but we understand i'm sure there
are so many needs within that community too, I'm sure everybody
is different absolutely absolutely
and again that's just us learning us working
with our uh our other leadership in the building and
just really understanding our residents
and then getting that experience then you'll just kind of
know how to uh get that nutrition over to the residents
but then you got to make sure you like
it too, nutrition taste is equally as important, no I I love
that it's kind of a reminder here about the
plate because often when we talk about aging
gracefully I think people go to skin care or
those types of treatments, but really what you consume
and what you're putting in your body
makes such a difference as well.
So you've brought us some, some ways that we can age
gracefully through food. Walk us through the menu.
Yeah. So, you know, our residents eat with
their eyes as well. You know, it's not just us.
So we want to try to make sure we're focusing on
our plating. So we have a soup bowl that we put on.
I worked with it this summer. You know,
Residents really appreciated it, they liked it.
We put it on the menu and we'll just see what happens.
This one's gonna be a little different.
It may be on our next menu cycle, but it's a mole chicken
and we added a Latin rice on our menu this year.
So, also too, a poached salmon,
which is another different cooking technique
with using a stock to cook your salmon down
and holds the moisture in, and it has a sweet pea coulis.
And then I wanted to just show a stir fry
to kind of tie in with our activities and our life engagement
because some of our communities have, we have the commercial kitchen,
some other kitchens out in the dining room that we can use.
And it's nice to get out in front
of the residents to actually do live cooking.
We do omelet bars, pasta bars, stir-fry bars, and things like that.
And we usually tie that in with some kind of activity.
But working with our activity coordinators through that.
So it's another nice experience that we have,
you know, for our residents.
And that is equally important, right?
Yep.
Being social, being with other residents,
that has to be a big part of aging gracefully, too.
Yeah, and like Michael said, at the time of movement
is where we're obtaining a lot of that information.
We're getting life stories, we're getting histories, we're getting,
you know, occupations, and then we can team them up with other
individuals as well and really do person-centered activities,
you know, engage them in that socialization.
meal prepping. We do a lot of activities with
meals. It's sometimes
the only time a resident comes out
of their rooms. It's a really, really
big socializing time. We want to make sure we're giving them a
good experience when they're coming out.
Then we want them to keep coming out.
I love the idea of having a full social calendar, especially because
that's the time of your life where you have
the freedom, you have the availability.
fill it up with different activities especially
as we talk about you know wanting to age gracefully
maybe one of those activities should
be some exercise some movement is that helpful here
yeah actually studies have shown
that as we age there's a reduction in our muscle mass
so by exercising daily by doing all the range
of motion exercises keeps us healthy moving the
blood flowing reduces risk of falls maintains independence
and so on and so forth every morning
9 30 in the morning we've got i don't know 20
25 people they're sitting and just doing chair
exercises lifting little weights
and things like that it's it's it's pretty neat to see even just
walking the building yeah you know just walking the buildings
and getting that exercise but we
make sure we give them a meal
so that they have their exercise they're ready to go it's very clear
that you guys care a lot about your residents
if anybody is interested in looking into new
perspective what exactly what they do we can uh just look
on our website at mpseniorliving.com
it'll have a list of all of our communities
and all the local areas um it'll have information
about us about the leadership
and we'll set up any kind of appointments for them and get them
moving forward that's great
because i have to imagine too that's that's a big step when you
get to that age for a resident and family alike
so to see even just the the simplicity of how much
you put into each meal that that has to be really reassuring
for the family and that's why we asked
you know we that's why we we teamed up
with our marketing team we wanted to we want our culinary
team also to come out of the come out
of the kitchen uh during these tours and then just kind
of give a three to five minute uh pitch you know about
the culinary department just to kind of
create that comfortability
because it's a nervous time it's like from eighth grade to a freshman
year where my daughter is going here soon
or um you know after high school to college it's just a
it's a it's a really uh tough time
so we just want to kind of create that connection and get
that stuff which is show them you know it can be tough
but then it can be really exciting once
you're there and you realize this is the right spot
for me i'm getting a gourmet meal i'm hanging
out with social hours getting my exercise
in people can absolutely thrive and speaking of
social hours can i ask real quick are residents going
to be watching the world oh absolutely
yeah that was a conversation in one
of our meetings yesterday oh goodness yeah hey is
Is the pub going to be open?
Yeah.
Absolutely.
Everyone likes a good old-fashioned.
They like their spirits throughout the week.
I'm loving this.
Thank you both so much for being here.
Not a problem.
All right.
We have a bit more coming up on Riverwalk
We'll be right back.
All right.
Game one right around the corner, guys.
I can't believe this is tomorrow.
I know.
I know.
The excitement's been building, which seems like forever.
Yes.
We've been rooting them on from the start.
Yes.
NLDS be the Padres.
NLCS the Dodgers.
Now we're like, oh, my God, we made it.
I think back to the home opener.
All the way back, yeah.
Going back to wake up and all the fun we had in the studio.
And that feels like yesterday.
And now here we are about to be in the World Series.
Absolutely nuts.
So much anticipation.
We do have some updates, though,
when it comes to the viewing parties at American Family Field.
So those tickets went on sale at 10 a.m. for games three and four.
And they are sold out, which a lot of us thought would be the case.
So that's another good opportunity now to go to that Crewtober website
or Fox6Now.com has a list of watch parties as well.
You just find a different spot to go and to watch the Brewers.
And if you really wanted to be inside AmFam
and there happens to be a Game 5,
they said those details would come in the following days.
Perfect.
And then just maybe for Game 5, if there is one,
be online at 10 a.m. to try and sign up.
And remember.
No, go ahead.
I was just going to say, remember, this is on Fox6, too.
See, there it is.
If you just want to stay at home with a group of friends or,
you know, set up a screen in
your backyard, that's the way to go, too.
And I believe if you do have an at-home viewing party,
we would love to be a part of that.
Yeah.
Send those details to us.
Look out.
What could possibly go wrong?
Send us a friend.
Nothing could possibly go wrong.
We're, like, begging to be invited
to your watch parties because we know you guys are
going to do fun things.
Right.
Exactly.
I think somebody will let us in the door.
I think so.
Yeah.
We'll bring our cameras.
We won't steal any of your beverages.
But we'll take one if you gladly offer.
Again, guys, game one tomorrow night right here, 7 p.m.
And then keep your TV on Fox 6.
If it's not Brewers, we've got Packers for you.
Exactly.
A lot happening.
It's going to be a great time.
Let's go Brewers!
