Hey, good to be with you.
Getting closer and closer to the weekend,
but really with days like we've had this past week,
it's just been a celebration each and every one of them.
Oh, my gosh.
I want to say like a fifth-day stretch now of the nice weather.
Going to keep it going.
Yeah, we're going to keep it rolling here.
It is a little chilly out early this morning.
I'm going to show you the numbers here in just a bit.
But, Stephen, your opener there, you didn't mention the Wizards won.
Wizards with a big win.
Right?
Davis, a huge debut.
You won an opener win in four years.
It's about time.
We're undefeated.
We are.
We're going places.
I didn't recognize that team when I was watching them last night.
I'm like, whoa.
All right, 32 in Frederick this morning, 32 in Winchester,
a little bit milder in town, but it's still a cool morning.
46 in D.C., 39 in Leonardtown and Fredericksburg.
Another beautiful day.
We'll be in the upper 60s.
More in just a minute.
All right, thank you.
Taking a look here at 6 o'clock.
This is what your Thursday morning commute overview looks like.
For the most part, looking good.
We will take a look at about 10 minutes in delays, though,
so not too bad there through Woodbridge just yet, 95 northbound.
Your main lanes have a crash there before Prince William Parkway
with the left lane and shoulder blocked.
Multiple vehicles involved in this incident,
so we'll follow along with the cleanup, but again, about 10 minutes.
Back to you.
This morning, repair crews are working to fix a sinkhole
near a Montgomery County middle school.
This is along Perrywood Drive, right in front
of Banneker Middle School in Burtonsville.
WSSC says the school does not have running water
because of the water main break that led to that sinkhole.
Police say this is likely going to be a long-term road closure
as crews work on repairs.
We'll keep you posted.
Montgomery County Public Schools, though, have not yet said
if the school will be closed today.
In Maryland, early voting begins today.
Election offices expecting a pretty strong turnout.
Meantime, Virginia's early voting is expanding today to more locations.
And Fox 5's Melanie Ollick, she's live in Fairfax
this morning with what you need to know.
Tis the season, Mel.
Yeah, and hey, listen, here in Virginia,
one of the first states in the nation to open up early voting.
It began on September 13th,
but that was really only in those central locations.
locations. And now here in Fairfax County,
13 additional neighborhood locations are opening
up today to give voters more opportunity.
They certainly are taking advantage of it.
Already, election officials in Virginia report
that more than 822,000 ballots have been cast
for this midterm election.
That's nearly double the pace of the 2022 midterms. Voters are casting
ballots for the House, Senate and three ballot questions.
Virginia voters are advised to check
their registration status
because you must vote in the locality that you are registered and you
need to bring an acceptable form of ID in Virginia.
Early voting in Virginia wraps up Saturday,
October 31st. Maryland is opening up its early voting locations today.
All eight Maryland
representatives in Congress are up for election.
And, you know, this is the first time in 45 years
that District 5 has
an open seat after Representative Steny Hoyer retired. Voters will
also be casting ballots for governor lieutenant
governor attorney general comptroller and their
state legislators and one thing to watch
for nationwide really people be looking is to see
whether Maryland voters will approve ballot question three
which would open the door to
partisan redistricting for congressional seats
in Maryland you need to check your registration and
your voting site it's also recommended
because there's so many things on the Maryland ballot
to review that in advance it will make your time
in the voting booth go quicker and some first time
voters may be asked to show ID, always a good idea to bring it.
Early voting in Maryland ends
on October 29th. Now, we know that many people like
the option of mail-in voting or using drop
boxes in both Virginia and Maryland.
You need to request your ballot ahead of time, and time is
ticking down for you to do that.
You can go to our website and our Fox Local app for instructions
on how to do that. D.C. opens up its early voting on Monday.
Steve and Melissa, our Maryland makes
a much needed balance in county board is suing
the Trump administration to prevent armed federal agents
from being present at polling places during the midterm elections.
A complaint filed just yesterday accuses the Department
of Homeland Security and the Department of Justice
of creating policies that would arm those FBI
and ICE agents to carry out civil and immigration law at the sites.
Stephanie Ramirez, she's going to be covering
this for us in our next half hour.
And remember, Fox 5,
your home for all election coverage all across the DMV.
We have Republican candidate for governor, Dan Cox,
joining us this morning for a live interview.
He's running in Maryland against
the sitting governor, Wes Moore, who we just talked to.
That's coming up at 7.30.
We had the one-on-one with Governor Wes Moore,
seeing his second term in office.
You can find that interview already posted at fox5dc.com.
It is 6.04 on your Thursday morning, Friday evening.
And when it comes to weather,
every day has been giving Friday vibes, if we're being honest.
Can't complain.
I mean, it's just one of the best stretches
of weather that we've had in recent memory.
It is tough to find something to be upset about in the weather world.
For sure.
It's a little chilly out this morning.
I'll say that, especially north and west.
We've got some low 30s.
But right back into the mid to upper 60s this afternoon.
We'll keep it dry.
I mentioned yesterday a few times we might make it
to November before our next chance for rain.
So maybe the end of next week.
But it'll be certainly down the road here.
And it will not be this weekend, as we're going to have great,
glorious conditions around here for several more days.
Seasonal fall weather.
And, again, it is chilly out there.
Leonardtown this morning looking good.
There's a tree strutting its stuff.
I can see some orange there.
It looks like a beautiful maple out there this morning.
And we are at 46 degrees in Washington, 38 Dallas.
And, again, I want to mention a lot
of 30s outside the Beltway to the north and west.
So put the jacket on early.
You'll want it.
How about lots of sunshine, low humidity?
Does this sound familiar?
Here, winds out of the north and east as our system, Josephine,
our subtropical system, passes off to the north and east.
We'll continue to get some breezes today.
Otherwise, we're going to get glorious conditions
and very nice weather around here.
We'll start to turn a little cooler as we get into the end of the week.
But today, fantastic stuff.
68 degrees, sunny, another gorgeous day out there.
I'll have weekend details, what to expect, in just a few minutes.
Before we toss it to traffic, just a reminder,
the Fox Local app, the way to do it, absolutely free.
and the only way to get me
to not talk about it every day
is to download it
and once everybody's downloaded it,
then I won't talk about it anymore.
So you can make this not happen.
Is that why you talk about it every day?
Well, there's still three people
in Dumfries
and there are two people
in Gaithersburg
that haven't downloaded it.
Oh, okay.
We're waiting patiently.
We're watching you.
Yeah.
Okay, we got a shout out
and we got John Howard,
Marine Corps Major
and it looks like
we're doing a veteran shout out
there in San Diego
But send us a picture of the veteran in your life.
Scan me in the upper left-hand corner this time,
and let us know what you're up to.
We love it.
All right, off to you, Annamie.
All right, thank you.
Take a look here, 6:06,
at your roadways here through Woodbridge 95 northbound.
Looking at your main lanes this day.
Crash before Prince William Parkway.
That has the left lane and shoulder blocked.
About 11 minutes in delays you'll see from Dumfries Road.
That's for about five miles.
You kind of see your drive time double, so a little bit slower there.
New crash here after Maryland 80 and Urbana.
This is 270 headed south.
left lane and shoulder are blocked in about 26 minutes
and delays in Maryland 85 so that was the
reason we were seeing a couple of minutes
of an increase on your 270 southbound drive time in
general usually it's not around 40 minutes
which it was about five minutes ago this early on but
of course now that's as a result of the incident we
are looking at there elsewhere outer loop of
the beltway this is about 10 minutes between 95
and Georgia and then finally BW Parkway north and
southbound directions are yellow in both directions
but for the most part normal here at six marissa
Thanks, Betty Mae. A court hearing today
for a 19-year-old suspect in connection to a deadly
shooting at the Addison Road metro station.

It comes after an 18-year-old man from Lanham was shot
and killed after an argument on September
7th. Faust faces multiple charges in this case,
and additional charges could be filed.

is now facing federal charges after a shootout that injured
a Georgia National Guardsman in Southeast.
Jarrell Lamont Jackson allegedly opened fire
after guardsmen tried to break up
a fight near Barracks Row back on October 18th.
Investigators say these new photos show Jackson exchanging gunfire
with guard members. Both he
and the guardsman suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
Trial resumes Monday now for the Naresh
Bhatt murder case. Yesterday, prosecutors shared
surveillance videos showing the moment that they
believe Bott pulled part of his wife's dismembered body
from a vehicle in a trash bag and threw it
in a dumpster. Jury also heard from a contractor
who says Bott paid him for a job by giving him a
saw. Investigators believe Naresh used that saw to dismember the body.
Her body's never been found.
The trial is expected to last a couple of more weeks.
A Loudoun County man will represent himself
in his murder trial and the death of his wife.
A judge ruling Roger Bradford can act as his own
attorney in the case. He's accused of shooting
and killing realtor Lisa Bradford at their Aldi
home in September. He faces second-degree murder and gun charges.
He's due back in court next month.
Students at seven Montgomery County schools headed back
to class this morning after lockdowns
yesterday following reports
of shots fired near Walter Johnson High School in North Bethesda.
Police investigating along Rockledge Drive
recovering shell casings just off the campus.
four people were detained.
Students at Walter Johnson say the situation was tense as officers
swarmed the area with shields and long guns.
There was two teachers that just brought us
into a class closest to where we came
in because they told us that it was in lockdown. So they
just brought us in their class
and they didn't want anybody in the hallways. And they said over
the announcements that there was a lockdown in place.
I think so. I think I was definitely
nervous, very nervous.
It makes me just, I'm already an anxious person, so like something
like that, I just can't. My day's just done.
There were no injuries as a result of the shots
fired. We're still waiting to hear
from police whether any other charges will be filed. All
right, so to come as the investigation continues
into Democratic Congresswoman Ilhan Omar,
the Minnesota representative making a major decision
this morning, what she just announced
coming up. And some Lime Riders in D.C. are getting kicked off the app,
and the list could
keep growing. What's prompting the company to take action this morning?
