Okay, always prepared. Welcome to Like It or Not.
We're live here from Markov's Haunted Forest
in Dickerson,
Maryland on this Thursday.
Just see me. It might be preferable,
but we're here live
alongside Chad Ricardo, Marina Morocco, and Angie.
And I know if you were home taking bets and
wondering who was going to wear a costume tonight,
you're right. It's Marina. Okay,
I'm going to explain what
you're wearing here.
ugly and you guys left
me hanging so i thought
we never agreed to dress
up i made the decision
for you i got no appropriate costumes okay good let's start
with chad you're always the best
dressed you
remind me sir
oh yeah you
got a chip on
my shoulder
chip on your
shoulder
come on now no deja is uh is just looking
at her that's lovely throw it out the rundown as we go
hey guys she's taking halloween
parties to a whole new level
her spooky dinner on her
instagram story celebrities are just like us
the menu included pasta with teeth and eyeballs soup
with floating eyeballs and platters
of bloody jaws even the place settings were covered in
fake blood with plates reading no one leaves
and the scares didn't stop at dinner duff shared a
photo of a zombie grabbing her face sending
her into a full-on scream chad a spooky dinner party
like it or not not at all Jim Lokey not at all
not for me whatsoever i think that that is just
a waste of a ton of good resources out there
and you're going way too far you want a good dinner
party you need food you need drinks people you don't need all
the rest of that get out of here
yeah yeah i mean
look at it that's
right why don't you
lean into it too
mexican thank you
so she can wear that a little later i think
that halloween is one of the times that you can just
let loose and go crazy with a theme i personally don't want
to eat anything that looks like it's
it's a part of crime scene
but i love it for them okay do you want my chili no i'm okay thank you
thank you very much okay uh let's move
on to a recent post on reddit trunk or treats have ruined
the fun of trick-or-treat is that true
or not the poster says they enjoy giving out candy halloween
but as soon as the trunk or treat started gaining popularity
the number of kids dropping by their
home has dropped by about half they go on to say
if you live in a rural area it makes sense to
trunk or treats but if you're in the suburbs
of a small city nothing beats the thrill of knocking
on a stranger's house for candy others say trunk
or treating cuts down on community connection
uh and it's usually during
the weeks before halloween diminishing the actual holiday
people who like it say it's safe and convenient
or treating like it or not abolish
trunk or treat let's get rid of it
no i mean it's fair i understand why people like it and want to come
to a parking lot and it makes it easy it is certainly safer
but it does i mean nobody's
trick-or-treating anymore it's all a bunch
of lies like bring back trick-or-treating
wow let's get to it i think a lot of it
is this this this era in which you're in like are you
comfortable letting total strangers into your house
and vice versa if you're a parent do you
want your kids going up to a total stranger's
house absolutely i think that's part of it it's
like going to the spooky house i like it
when the lights are off and you don't know what you're
gonna get um to me i think that that's
your classic trick-or-treating experience but a
A trunk-or-treat serves a purpose.
There's some years where you're just too darn tired
and you want to put it on autopilot.
You've got easy mode Halloween with a trunk-or-treat.
So if it's an option and you're short on time,
you're short on money or where to go, it's a great opportunity.
It's a great alternative.
My question is why is it an either-or type of thing?
Can't we do both?
I'm cool with tired Angela going out with the kids.
She's like, I'm not going trick-or-treating anymore.
I got you.
I can't do this, y'all.
I need to go.
My time is up, y'all.
Okay, guys, guys, trunk-or-treating, if you,
okay, trunk-or-treating or trick-or-treating,
if you like trunk-or-treating, let me hear it.
Trick-or-treating.
Yeah,
exactly.
What a smoke.
About trunk-or-treating over trick-or-treating.
Do you like it or not?
Go to slash lion or scan the QR code to vote,
and we'll check those results later on in
the show if we all make it back alive.
Chris
and Marilyn
along with
the lion,
the pimp, and
the pepper
coming
this fall.
On the show, we want to start with costumes here
and talk about an annual costume trend
report.
some of the biggest sellers this year include characters
from k-pop demon hunters toy story
and the romance series off campus i wow are you
are you familiar at all with that i have no idea
what you just said okay romance thanks
for paying attention superheroes like spider-man and the
power rangers are still popular along
with video game favorites from fortnite and halo and if you
want something a little more dramatic
and who doesn't greek gods dragon riders and classic
horror villains are also trending
so chad yeah what's the costume in your household here this year
And Jim, okay, I've never heard of off-campus.
I know you guys, you've heard of off-campus?
Love off-campus.
Personally, we are a Pokemon household.
We are going as the Squirtle Squad this year.
Pokemon down a giant squirtle.
Let's do it.
What is it?
You don't want to know.
It's like a turtle.
You don't want to know.
You don't want to know.
A turtle Squirtle.
It's a Pokemon turtle.
Yeah, yeah.
Oh, yeah.
You can see what I just saw.
HR is here, too.
Has become
Comic-Con
with candy.
I feel like...
That's a really good point.
when i look at comic-con because i've always wanted
to go to comic-con but i feel like it's
always replicated it's like what you you know
the big movie of the summer what you see in july that's
hot you know you're going to see a ton
of about time i'm done with the sexy nurses are you are
they see chad is the question i have well i have a wife
who's watching at home right now so i'm not
going to answer but when i was in college 10 years i love
the sexy you can never have enough sexy
nurse looks sexy but some okay good point good point good point
the visuals of you looking at
the camera going with the cigar i love
the sexy nurses i'm anti now yeah uh what what are we
dressing
up as for
halloween
back here
i was a
cowboy
player
the person
will look
at you you
know i did her about my mitzvah
and it makes sense okay it's on candy now as you stock up on your
candy to pass out or eat yourself we have some
of the popular candies this year taking the number
one spot in America including in Virginia, M&M's
topping that, Sour Patch Kids. Do we like Sour Patch Kids?
Number three, number four, Reese's Cups.
Yeah, five
Nerds Gummy Clusters.
Yes.
Number six, Hot Tamales.
Absolutely not.
Number seven, Starburst.
No.
Number eight, Candy Corn.
No.
No.
Oh, stop it.
Terrible.
Number nine, Hershey's Minis.
Number ten, Butterfingers.
So, Marina, what's your favorite?
Where's Twix?
Where's Kit Kat?
What state that is, but it's all the way.
You can see that, boy.
That's pretty.
That's North Dakota, I believe.
Okay.
Got you.
Well, that's not the land of Kristi Noem.
That would be the south, but close enough.
Correct.
Okay.
Yeah.
Yes.
Yeah.
Well, what's your favorite candy?
Well, I did read this story because I wanted to see
because I always get such crap for liking the bit of honey.
That doesn't even exist anymore.
Yeah, it does.
You know what I love, though?
Guess number one candy in Montana was?
Wow.
Hi-Chew.
And if that ain't the most Asian thing you heard for a terrible start.
What are Hi-Chews?
Hi-Chews are amazing.
They originated in Japan.
They're big in Japan, big in Korea.
Now they've made their way over here into mainstream.
Montana, nothing more Americana than that.
Hi-Chew move up in the ranking
so i don't know that's that's the only thing i took away from
that story wow great represent i jim i looked
at this and i was i was very surprised that candy
corn although a staple that it made it all
the way in the top 10 candy corn is an absolutely
horrible candy and anybody that likes it should
be ashamed of themselves well shame me chad
ricardo number one
but i i enjoy i this uh you're a Reese's guy one of our colleagues
I left out candy corn in the newsroom yesterday.
Really?
I ate six pieces of candy corn, and people look like I just ate a baby.
Oh, God.
Here we go again.
What in the world is happening now?
Oh, look.
It's the ghost of Christie Gnomes dog Cricket.
Almond Joys.
I mean, those are all good.
Okay, let's not judge here.
No, we're judging.
What's wrong with chocolate and coconut?
Anything with chocolate is a win.
You like Almond Joy?
I like it better than the rest of those candies that are out there.
That's the thing.
I like Three Musketeers.
And the Mounds are good, too.
That's just a filler.
What's your favorite candy back there?
I like the wing.
Oh, you like Three Musketeers?
Oh, God, we have to shame that.
There you go.
By the way, all these kids have mouths full of cotton candy,
but they're able to look in there.
$100,000 is good, too.
You guys are not...
They're so cute.
Parents, too.
All right.
Turtles?
Okay, you're fancy.
Now, if we're talking Turtles...
Turtles are fancy?
Turtles are...
A little chocolate and caramel.
A little Ferrero.
Chocolate and caramel.
Yeah.
Shall we move on?
Yeah.
Okay.
you've probably been diving
into your favorite Halloween movies lately if you need up the scare
level there's a new study that may help you pick up
the scariest Halloween movies of them all
researchers with the science
of Scare project strapped heart rate monitors to people while
they watch popular horror movies out
of 250 different English language horror films researchers
compiled a list of the top 50 scariest based
on physical reactions taking the top spot is Sinister
Heart rate spiked to 131 beats a minute while watching that one.
Skinamarink, Host, Insidious,
and The Conjuring were also in the top five.
I feel like these are not scary movies.
These are movies designed to scare the hell out of you.
Wow.
Yeah, I don't watch them.
I mean, Harry Potter scares me.
Halloween, Blood seeping through the bottom door,
I'm like, I don't need the book.
Everybody
sees
you.
Somebody had to say,
I'm watching this replay
on Fox Local.
I haven't seen any
of these.
I haven't seen a scary movie in a long time.
It's still Friday the 13th for me, it's still a Nightmare on Elm Street
and it's a great one
it is the original one, yeah, the original one
that's a clown one, I've not seen that one either
but remember when that movie so much, yeah
because they tried to tell you that this is, sure, sure
well when I saw the Blair Witch Project, we still, I sat
in the front row of a movie theater to see
it, see, it was just so jerky
so like you're just sitting up there like this, I was told that they're
making a Blair Witch 2
which I said makes no sense because if you know that it's not
real, there's nothing good about it
The jig is up
Yeah.
Yeah.
Nothing now
Our lives every day, trying to avoid danger and cardiac arrest
and then you're going
to go and put yourself in a position
in the line of fire for something like this
Like, it didn't make much sense to me
I'm a woman of data
That data does not add up.
She doesn't know either.
That's the beauty of it
Yes, Angie
If you follow what Angie just said, tag us on social media.
I'm talking about going to scale me.
That's right.
Chad, we're going to send you out in the crowd
We come back here on the show
Some people love scary.
Some people love being scared.
Those people are not Marina.
We're back after this
Oh, hey, we're back here
unlike it or not,
live from Marc Cross on the Force
Got a lot of people showing up here tonight saying hello,
stopping by here at our Fox 5 booth as we hang out
and enjoy Halloween, enjoy the season.
It's not as cold as it was last year.
Mark House is always so great.
Yep Village, starting in mid-November.
See, you're breaking some news here.
I didn't know that.
Well, breaking news.
That's what we do at Fox 5.
Yeah.
Where'd Chad go?
What?
Uh-huh.
You might be wondering where Chad went.
We'll get to him in a moment.
First, we're going to talk about...
There he is.
So, Chad, here's the thing.
Psychiatrists say when you're scared,
the heart pounding makes you feel alive, awake, and focused.
So, we want to see what people think.
Do they like being scared, like it or not?
What you got, Chad?
And we are now here with our fans,
with the people.
Guys, are you enjoying Marcos?
We're talking about the desire to be scared,
which is why we all came out here today.
We like to be scared.
I got to tell you, you are a man of the people as well, like myself.
What brought you here?
What leads you to want to be afraid?
You know, I never wanted to be afraid when I was a kid,
and it's a lot more exciting now as an adult.
And, you know, my wife and kids, they love it.
So we're out here having fun.
and uh yeah really excited the atmosphere
is great we're actually not even doing the path but you
know like it's so much fun to do that too
when we got just adults here all right so so there we go
we're getting a little fun that's afraid here
and to you ladies that scary man just walked by as
well what brings you all here why do you like
to be afraid in here at Markoff um i like the feeling
of being scared like it gives me it makes you feel
happy makes you feel happy it doesn't make me feel
what about you it's fun it's fun it's fun you
all enjoy it i tell you what there we are we are
hearing from the people here they love
to be afraid it's fun it makes them feel good and my
dear friend Jason brings his entire family out here
to all fill in the screams and the scares
and that's all that's going down here at Markoff
so one more time guys, wave to the camera, wave to
the camera guys, it's absolutely phenomenal Jim, I'm gonna throw it back
to you, they're all having a
good time out there, look at them enjoy, what are you
a fairy, uh, what else we have dressed up out
there, some people wearing their costumes, Chad we got
a chip on his shoulder, yeah, do you like, do you I
mean obviously we know the answer from Marina
do you like being scared? absolutely not, I mean that
was the whole point, I was trying
to make before we're discussing like all these different scary
movies, yeah, I don't understand, I really
do not understand how they break the box office
when we come back we'll take one
more look at our poll question
we actually think about
trick-or-treating over trick-or-treating
fox5dc.com slash line come back please
fresh on campus it's the bird man jr money
too long teach put away the grueless
things here mark osama for us
for our second live lion
on scene yeah look at the app though
he put in the work, we have to think about trick-or-treating over trick
or treating, 38
percent of you like it, told you 62 percent
of you don't, yeah, I mean again this was such a
COVID, I feel like this is such a COVID relic
that sticks around, oh you make a good point, yeah I mean
it works, yeah, but you can't have one without
the other, like you need the trick-or-treating
yeah, trick-or-treating is fun, going from house
to house that's a fun time the thing is again
it just goes back to knowing your neighbors
because i grew up in a neighborhood where like
I knew everybody, so it wasn't really
that strange to go to other people's houses.
Yeah, you knew where the big candy bars were.
Well, there was that, too.
There was usually that, too.
And more importantly, you knew where the crappy candy was.
Yeah, the razors.
The pennies.
The toothbrushes.
Oh, yeah, there were those.
