Welcome to the TMZ Podcast. Devin here with Courtney.
Hello.
What's going on?
Thursday.
Yeah.
I know.
Thank you for letting us know what day it is.
Yeah, it stopped raining. Hopefully it's done raining.
I kind of am cool with the rain right now.
I don't have AC. It's been so hot here.
I usually am not a rain guy, but I'm pretty cool with the rain.
But it's a far walk to the cars.
It's 100 yards.
I don't care when there's no coverage. I hate being wet and driving.
Yeah, I can see that.
But it was nice and relaxing.
I will refuse to use an umbrella.
You'll never see me with an umbrella.
Why?
Does it not feel manly enough to you?
There's something about it.
I used to not really like it growing up either.
Really?
My mom would give me my umbrella and I'd always end up losing it.
It was a whole issue.
I love it.
Not a fan of them.
All right.
Yeah, that was a great start.
That was.
So we spoke to Krista Pike's attorney last night.
Yeah.
Alexa did here, one of our great reporters.
So we have an update on her condition,
what's going on with Krista Pike.
obviously she was the one
who uh had the botched execution yeah to see crazy story so we'll give
you an update on her um Ilhan right yeah
on Omar um is addressing on allegations that I
was unaware of until about 10 minutes ago oh my god I heard Babcock
and Harvey fighting about it
yesterday pretty ridiculous accusations uh she's
addressing them we'll tell you what that is and
And then everyone's favorite former NBA player, Nick Canton.
Such a troll.
Nick Canton Freedom, actually.
Yeah.
Is how he goes by now.
Oh, boy.
Showed up at the WNBA finals last night and got kicked out.
Yeah.
And there was a dispute on what happened.
We will break that all down.
I feel like he wants to be 50 Cent,
but he'll never be 50 Cent when it comes to trolling.
Nick Canton was a very average NBA player.
Yeah.
And usually with very average NBA players,
you just never hear from them again.
And I think he is doing the, like,
he's not a streamer, but he's, like, in doing that.
Yeah.
Like, just doing shock things for attention.
But anyways, we will get into what happened down in Atlanta with Nick.
Krista Pike.
Krista Pike.
So, everyone knows this story by now.
I don't think we need to get into too much of the backstory.
Botched execution.
But we spoke to her attorney last night
who says she is now walking independently.
um i guess her speech has improved a lot she's able
to speak in full sentences which is obviously
a huge um breakthrough from what she was originally like
and it's a little uh less than a month
correct from yeah i think it happened about
a month ago like end of september um obviously um
doctors are still evaluating uh whether
or not she will have long-term uh cognitive damage yeah
psychological issues which yeah i can imagine would arise
from uh a botched execution yeah um
but yeah i mean it's obviously she's making strides she's
been transferred back to the jail
so that's where she is um you know getting all
her medical a while ago right yeah so she's seeking
all her medical um help is being had in prison
um obviously her attorney wants her sentence
commuted wants her just to spend the rest
of her life in prison doesn't think she should uh be
executed uh again i guess you could say again yeah they attempted it
um uh we we talked about
how the governor of tennessee stopped all
the executions for the rest of the year so it's
definitely not going to happen this year
um i think it'd be so messed up to the victim's family
not to do the execution again you can't you can
also say it's messed up to her that they
that they screwed it up
and now they're gonna make her go through it again yes i know it's a
hard one they really did mess us up on so many levels
because like what one do you play like
do you pick her feelings do you pick
the victim's families maybe the victim's family doesn't even
want her executed and they are fine with having
her just spend like the rest of their life in jail
i do feel like you need to weigh in like what they feel
because they are the victims in this
scenario and now she is also a victim
but i feel like she's a victim of her own she's also yeah
I was also a criminal.
The murder.
I cannot get over the murder every time I think about the details.
Yeah.
And again, I always go back to do we really want
to pay our tax dollars to keep someone
that committed a horrific crime alive for the rest of their life?
I don't think it's a very good justification
of where our money's going.
But a lot of people also just don't believe in in execution.
Yeah.
Lethal injection and all that stuff.
Well, I would also like to give a shout out to
the medical care because everyone's always
saying how bad it is like in prison
and this girl is now walking and speaking in less than a month
after this and they people didn't know she was going
to shout out to the medical care yes literally
shout out because it's awesome everyone's always
like they like suck like in prisons like no one's
ever watching out for them and maybe they're paying
a little bit more attention to her just
because like the severity
and like all like the spotlight on it shout out to all our nurses out
there yes they deserve it you want
to um okay Ilian Ilian Omar yes um this i watched this interview
this will be my first time really i okay i want you
to hear how she answers it and what he says
so the background is i guess there's
been this long-standing allegation that she married her
brother which was her ex-husband now yes
and they commit immigration fraud yes but they've been
trying to get her for years i feel like
the first time it happened was like 20 something that they
were trying to do it absurd allegation it sounds like
an allegation that was stemmed from someone
who was running against her
at some point, I'm sure.
I don't know, but I'm sure.
Yeah, well, it all falls...
Yes, it's about, like,
illegal, like, voter rights,
illegal, like, immigration, like, laws.
She said that HSI
showed up at her house
at 6 a.m.
She was like,
I only got two hours of sleep.
I feel like she was
coming back from a flight.
She landed around, like, two,
got home at, like, three,
so she only had two hours of sleep.
And she did...
She does give them credit.
She was like,
they even folded some of my clothes,
like, after they left.
That weren't even folded.
Oh, that's nice.
Yeah, she said that
they put everything away.
This allegation reminds me of, like, when Trump used
to say he wanted to see Barack Obama's birth certificate.
Yes.
Right?
It's like the same thing.
Yeah.
Okay, well, anyway, so she was on, um, what was she on?
MSNBC with Chris Hayes.
And he asked her straight up about these allegations.
There are right-wing people who believe that this man was your brother.
Right.
You have called it a disgusting lie.
Right.
Who was this man that was your husband?
When did they start saying that he was your brother?
Why?
It started with the Somali blog that I don't know if it still exists,
but somebody put in there that, you know,
that he had to have been my brother or something to that effect.
And right wing conspiracy theorists in Minneapolis got a hold of it
and they just kind of went and like found random people who were like,
she introduced us.
you know she introduced him to us
and said he was her brother um which is you know insane i mean i
don't i don't know those people that they talk about he
was not you were not related to him at
all not that there's not like there's
not some weird kernel of truth that through some game
not to my knowledge that was the big gotcha right
in terms of what you're talking about promising
like we're gonna nail her on the marriage yeah
that was the source of the immigration fraud
that no longer seems to be the issue that they
are putatively investigating right they've now
moved on to whatever your representations
your father made in his naturalization process about
you yeah is that your understanding but it's
also very convenient because my dad is no longer alive
right right so it's a it's another thing they can drag
on forever so so i so go ahead well
everyone's saying oh my god she's saying
not to my knowledge like wouldn't you just deny it yes
you would but you can tell she's being very sarcastic
in that clip like what a stupid
question that i even like have to answer
if i married my brother do i think she married her
brother no they're saying but i do both brother
so they could illegally move here but watching
this clip i'm the opposite of a conspiracy theorist yeah
if i'm watching this clip and
i'm a conspiracy theorist i'm latching on to this yeah
not to my knowledge i know like i feel like
you should be like this is insane that i even have
to say this but no i did not marry my brother
yeah let's move on she also did later say that it
was insane she did say it was insane but don't
say not to my knowledge i know
because you know that's gonna get clipped and she kind of is like
gets i i think she's just like uncomfortable
because it's such an absurd thing to be asked
that when she's kind of smiling
and laughing i see why this clip got a lot of attention yeah
but i had someone text me this morning i'm not gonna say
who saying you guys need to find out
if she was married to her brother.
I know.
And I was like, what?
Well, also good thing
because people are-
It's 5.30 in the morning.
Yeah, why are you texting me this?
Yeah.
Well, because everyone's also like,
they took DNA from her house.
Like, when they were doing it,
they like went deep diving
when they had the warrant.
She says that's not true.
She says that you have to get a receipt
about all the items that they take.
They took 17 items.
Most of it was her husband's notebook.
They also took an old camera
that his uncle gifted him
when he was back in the war.
He was like,
I don't even think he's ever used it.
His uncle used it.
They took-
has the ex-husband addressed this i don't believe
so okay i don't i this is so like conspiracy
theorist weird stuff that like exactly i didn't
even know how it came out and of course it was
a somali blog that then right yeah conspiracy theorist latched
on well and they said that
they took like a whole bunch of her old cell phones
do you have your old cell phones i used
to and i don't know who keeps
her old cell phones now i don't know why i used to but i used to have
a drawer of like all my old phones because it's like
when you have a phone you think to yourself
like oh this is like valuable why would I just throw it away
but once you get a new phone why
the hell would you why would you ever throw it I did have
a drawer like that and I got rid of all
my laptops I actually brought it to one of our IT people
and I had them scrubbed or what what did
you have on those things I just wanted it all gone I didn't want
to just throw them away so I
had IT I need to get a hold of one
of your old phones I have all the hard drives IT gave me the
hard drives because I sat there I was like
Hamilton I'm watching you take out the hard
drives give them to me and then I saw them wipe my phone
and then I saw I got I got to talk to
Hamilton take it away no I had my favorite phone back in the day
because I was like one of the
last uh how old are you again why 30 no because 30 seven okay uh just
because I was like the last
one of my friends to have a cell phone
because everyone in middle school had a cell phone and
my parents were like you're not getting
a cell phone until you're in high school I had one when
i was 12 because i had older sisters
so i would get their hand-me-downs yeah i never so i was
nokia is that like like girls used to have
to like call the house and like my mom would answer
no and guys and friends no i had girls calling
the house in middle school but uh can jimmy come
out but i had a blackberry
that was my first phone i really oh see i like the sidekick the
flip oh i never had that i had
a blackberry brick breaker anyways uh let's get on to Dan's cancer uh
this guy yeah so everyone knows he's been trying
to uh get into the WNBA, he says he's going to get
into the draft next year they denied him he said he's going
to sue them he then showed up to a game
earlier this year where he got kicked out i think
he did sue them yeah he sued the arena yes in
chicago so anyways he inserted himself yet again
at the WNBA final game three where he announced
of course that he was going to be attending down
in atlanta between the dream and the valkyries
yeah and uh apparently what happened
was he bought tickets on the sideline I'm assuming he wanted
to be courtside yeah that's courtside sidelines
is on that NFL field oh yeah uh he wanted to be a
courtside at the game bought tickets allegedly what happened here
was that the WNBA said this
is going to be too much of a scene instead we're
gonna have you can come but you're going to be in
the suite yeah they set up with a nice luxury suite
and he said no i want to go to the seats
that i paid for because of course why would he want
to be in the suites no he wants to be on
the sidelines where now you have me saying
sideline courtside where he can then get into
it with WNBA players and make a scene
which shows that the WNBA and the arena did the right thing
because he was there for to make a scene yeah obviously
and he said and he did make a scene
because yes and unfortunately again we're talking
about Enes Kanter I have no clue what happened in
the game do you nope I just know yeah exactly
not even our producer knows he was giving us notes I
have no clue what actually happened in the game
but here I am watching him on his phone getting
kicked out so he wins again yeah so even
when he didn't get to his seats i will say if you're the
WNBA guys i get it he's going to be a distraction
but like he paid for those seats just let him sit
there and it's going to be annoying
but like guys if but he can't disrupt the game because they even
kick out if you just ignore then it won't be a scene
and now he got exactly what he wanted
he can control himself yeah if he's going
to probably like i don't know talk to but just tell
the girls to not respond or i guess
but he got exactly what he wanted and here he is again we're
talking about Enes Kanter yeah he's a tall man i need
to find out what happened in this WNBA game
i'm gonna go with atlanta dream won let me see i'll say
by a spread of because like this is this
is injustice to the WNBA because apparently i
was being told before this that go dream it i called
it i was being told they had to actually go to State Farm Arena
because they needed more seats
which that's good
for the WNBA
that means people
are going
that is really good
oh no
he just told us
no I know
I was just looking
when the next game is
Saturday
oh yeah
97
to 71
so my spread
wasn't right
but it is
I got the team right
oh Angel Reese
is on the dream
yeah
I don't know
anyone who's on
the Golden State team
oh and she kind of
balled out
21 and 12
that's good
that's really good
who's on Golden State
is Paige
no I don't know
Paige Beckers is on some other team anyways that's us talking WNBA
but and unfortunately
got exactly what he wanted yeah comments
or no comments sorry guys still scrolling through
um yes brandon is commenting on the WNBA
and how he liked it oh see someone watched it oh awesome
yeah was there a reason why we did is uh branson put
on suspension is that why he's sitting over
there or okay flippity flippity yeah
that's about it everybody's conspiracy theorists yeah i knew it
i knew it the conspiracy theorists i love conspiracy theorists
are like they legit freak
me out they don't they don't live in reality they go hard
but sometimes it's like fun to dip your
toes i i don't don't you guys have other things
to do with your day i don't want to get my toes
into any of those you get bored
and it's just fun i'm not into the conspiracy or go like be like the
Ennis Cantor and like troll them and like keep
like egging them on. I love to talk about the Denver
Airport. That's probably like my favorite
one. Everyone thinks there's a bunker.
Look Tony's like I've heard about that one.
I've heard about this like there's some
like they're doing like alien experiments
and all this stuff. Why do they build
in the middle of nowhere when you go when you
enter it the red eyes on the
horse that are standing up. There's so
many theories. If you do a deep dive you'll
be in it for a whole day. It's certainly
a conspiracy theory. The problem with conspiracy theories
is that it's
usually so obviously disproven yeah
and for conspiracy theories to actually be real you
know how many people have to not talk yeah i know
so it's just it's implied like they're all
anyways sorry guys if you're have a good day today yeah friday
on a friday yep see you guys tomorrow
