SWAT standoff ends in Lowell, Indiana as coroner responds to scene

Dane, there was a standoff outside this house here on Northview Drive in Lowell. Lowell Police and other law enforcement agencies surrounded this house this afternoon. Then after a period of time, they moved in to gain entry to the house. Police wearing tactical gear positioned themselves behind a SWAT vehicle in the driveway of the house. Other officers were in the backyard. Neighbors tell me that a man in his 30s lived here with his dog. They described him as a good neighbor who would loan or borrow tools or come over to visit. They had nothing but good things to say about him. Police did not evacuate the neighborhood. They have not shared any information about why they were called to this house. But about 5 p.m., the SWAT team used their shields as cover to move closer to the house. They also deployed a drone. Neighbors didn't hear any loud noises, but they believe the resident has died. The Lake County Coroner's Office was here. neighbors say the resident did own guns but caused no trouble police stayed on the scene for a couple of hours removing bags of evidence they released the scene at about 7 p.m we have multiple calls into the Lowell Police Department and other law enforcement agencies to try to learn what this was about and who was involved but so far there's been no response reporting live in Lowell I'm Joni Lum, Fox Chicago We'll be right back.
