Dewayne Staats Discusses Rays Ahead of Thrilling World Series

You and I talked at the beginning of the year. Dwayne, we didn't know what this thing was going to look like. And all of a sudden, they started gathering steam. They kept going month after month. Caminero was getting protection in the lineup. I mean, are you surprised where they are now heading into this World Series? Well, I'll tell you, you're right about, you know, that first week or so of the season. In fact, they went to Milwaukee, lost two out of three up there. But I'll tell you what, it was kind of a nice little preview. And you're right. We didn't know how good this team may be. But we saw two teams there that were really interesting teams. And I'll tell you, once the Rays hit their stride, you know, a handful of games into the season, you could start to see what they may have here. You never know what's going to happen with a club, but I think, you know, we have hindsight now, which is always 20-20, but I think this turns out to be a great matchup, and we saw some of it up there in Milwaukee, you know, early in the year. this is baseball at its best i think and i think we have every right to anticipate a fun World Series you know there are two teams that there's some pop in their lineup but you know they'll steal a base they'll get on base they'll do all those things they'll pitch the ball they match up the bullpen situation has been really kind of fun to watch especially with the Rays because they do so much matching up. So I think this is a throwback to a multifaceted roster on two teams that have a lot of talent and are very excitable.
