Lieutenant B. Bondurant, B-O-N-D-U-R-A-N-T,
with the Harris County Sheriff's Office Vehicle
Crimes Division. So at approximately 6:40 this morning,
our 911 call center received a 911 call
for a two-vehicle minor crash.
That call was called in by ICE agents. Our patrol division
responded to the scene here in the 12,400 block of Old Fulton.
Upon arrival, they observed two
ICE agents on scene, both
in unmarked government vehicles along with a blue
Ford truck civilian vehicle.
They called Crime Scene Division. We came out here
and conducted a preliminary investigation and through our
investigation determined
that the two ICE agents attempted to stop what they
described as a individual in the country illegally. He had been priorly
prior deportation orders. Uh, the individual fled from the ICE agents
when they activated their lights in their unmarked vehicles.
The pursuit lasted approximately 200
feet southbound here on Old Fulton.
The vehicle lost control here right behind me in the dirt
and then came up on the roadway.
And at that time, the front right of the ICE agent's vehicle
made contact with the back left of the civilian's Ford pickup,
causing minor damage to both vehicles.
The civilian then parked his vehicle here
on the side of the road of Old Fulton
and fled on foot for a couple hundred feet,
at which time he was apprehended by the ICE agents.
He has been taken into custody by ICE.
They are currently sitting on him at a local hospital.
The suspect did not have any injuries from the crash.
He just complained of some pain, so he was taken there by ICE.
The individual who they are trying to apprehend is an approximately 40,
or excuse me, 50-year-old adult male.
Any questions?
I don't have any of that information on the actual suspect,
besides a name, which obviously we're not going to release right now.
You'd have to ask those questions to the ICE PIOs.
At this point, no, sir.
The sheriff's office is not filing any criminal charges.
From what we see here, the preliminary
investigation appears to be just a minor crash.
Not yet.
Yes, sir.
And the damage behind us is from the wreck?
There's some minor dirt debris rub off here.
Yes, sir, right here.
But not a crash?
No, sir.
No, sir.
That is not related to the crash.
Yeah, they were coming southbound right here.
Yes.
Is it?
I don't know the protocols, but I know that's happened in the past.
They don't have our radio channels to call us.
Correct.
The citizen's vehicle lost control during
the pursuit, ran off the roadway here,
regained control momentarily, at which time they made contact,
the ICE vehicle and the suspect or the victim's vehicle.
Were there any passengers?
Single occupant in all vehicles.
Two ICE agents, one victim that I'm not aware of.
The vehicle that the suspect was in, that's been towed?
Yes, sir.
That's an ICE facility?
It's a local storage facility.
Yeah.
I don't understand.
I don't believe they have any reason
to hold the vehicle for criminal purposes.
Yes, the DA's office has been notified of this incident.
No, sir.
They did not make the scene.
So, obviously, we'll conduct a thorough investigation, just like we
do for every single event there is, whether or not it's ICE or not.
And if need be, we'll present
to the district attorney's office for charges if need be.
Yes, the ICE agents advised us that he did
not have any injuries from the crash.
He just complained of pain.
It was a very minor crash based on the damage.
Of course.
Yes.
Yes.
Single occupant in all vehicles.
