What are your concerns regarding electric bikes
and scooters in your area?
The biggest concern is just that the kids could get hurt.
But there's also a concern that the kids are taking those e-bikes,
e-bikes particularly from what I've heard,
and they're somehow souping them up so they can go way above the...
They each come with a regulator
that they're not supposed to go that fast,
20, 28 miles an hour, which is really pretty fast.
But they're apparently able to toggle those things
where they can make them go a lot faster
it. So the parents should really pay attention
and make sure their kids do not do that. That
makes them just incredibly so much more dangerous.
If a kid's riding around here 40, 50 miles an
hour, 12, 13 year old kid, it is just a recipe for disaster.
Halloween is right around the corner.
We know a lot of kids may be using those e-bikes
and scooters to get around, go trick-or-treating.
What's your message to them regarding safety?
Halloween can be a dangerous time anyway.
But Halloween's a great time.
Everybody has fun.
Everybody gets out and has fun.
But, you know, obviously, it's a lot of times dark.
Most of those e-scooters, e-bikes, don't have lights on them.
So if your kids are going to be out there on those at night,
make sure they're confined to the sidewalks.
If they're going to cross the street,
tell your kids to walk it across the street.
Don't ride it across the street.
And give them some kind of light,
something that people can see them from a distance so they can tell,
hey, there comes an e-scooter or an e-bike.
