澳洲的杨梅是怎么来的？｜How Did Bayberries Get to Australia?

七千年前，浙江河姆渡遗址里已经有杨梅的花粉；唐宋的李白、苏轼，都把杨梅写进了诗里。2004 年，两位澳洲研究人员到浙江考察，想把这种夏天的水果种到南半球。好品种拿不到，寄来的枝条坏在检疫路上，只好从种子苗里一棵棵挑。十多年前，澳洲政府资助的杨梅研究选了六个试种点，我们的果园是其中之一。七个章节，讲一颗杨梅怎样走到澳洲。

Some 7,000 years ago, bayberry pollen settled at the Hemudu site in Zhejiang, and Tang and Song poets such as Li Bai and Su Shi wrote the fruit into their poems. In 2004, two Australian researchers travelled to Zhejiang hoping to bring this summer fruit to the southern hemisphere. The best varieties were not available, cuttings were lost in quarantine, and the work started again from seedlings. More than a decade ago, a government-funded bayberry project chose six trial sites in Australia, and our orchard was one of them. Seven chapters on how one little berry travelled a long way.
