Van Zandt County Deputy killed during warrant arrest

A late night shootout with a wanted suspect left both the suspect and a sheriff's deputy dead. Another police officer injured not too far from where that fire was. No, this happened last night. Van Zandt County, Dionne Anglin joining us now live from the scene with more. Dionne. Hey there. Good morning. Law enforcement presence still here at the scene. However, the home in question is beyond our line of sight. It is beyond this gravel road and through an area behind a cluster of trees. But here is what we know. A sheriff's deputy is dead. A police officer is injured. Also, a suspect is dead. Now, this happened just after 10 last night. This home is off Highway 198, just southwest of the city of Canton. Officers and deputies were here to serve a warrant for aggravated assault on a peace officer. Now, somewhere in the process of approaching the home, officials say the suspect started shooting at officers from inside the home. Now, police returned fire. The suspect was discovered dead from a gunshot wound inside the house. Now, again, a Van Zandt County Sheriff's deputy was shot and killed. A Canton police officer was also hit and injured. That officer was taken to a hospital. We do not have a condition update on that officer working to get that information. But again, the home is beyond where we are. It's down this gravel road and behind a group of trees. But not a good outcome here as they were trying to serve this warrant at 10 last night on Tuesday evening. For now, it's the very latest live.
