It’s been quite a couple of months. We took the full course down to rework it, based on the feedback many of you sent us.
The first thing you told me was that the lessons were too long. Forty-five minutes to an hour, sometimes over seventy minutes a week, is a lot to sit through, and it’s easy to lose focus. Everybody is busy these days. What you wanted was something closer to fifteen minutes, enough to nail down one or two solid points you can remember and actually practice.
I thought about that, and I think you’re right. Shorter lessons take some of the stress off. You can really focus for a short stretch, and you’ll have more time, and more flexibility, to practice. So we’ve cut and edited the lessons into smaller pieces, roughly fifteen to eighteen minutes, twenty at most. We’re trying to keep most of them around fifteen.
The second thing you kept asking for was a textbook. This time, the lessons come with a full textbook and a workbook, in ebook format, so you have something to read, something to practice with, and a way to check your own progress. Writing both has taken a lot of time and energy, so we’ll be releasing the course session by session. Not everything is finished yet, but the first two sessions, with the textbooks and workbooks, are almost ready.
I’m also arranging live sessions: a mix of lecturing, group coaching, and Q&A.
Thank you very much for your trust, your patience, and especially your passion for learning the Chinese language, its characters, and its culture with us.
At the end of this message you’ll find a link. Please fill out the form, and we’ll continue our conversation there. We’re moving to a different platform, one that lets us shape the course more closely around how this class learns and how I teach it.
Hello, class.
It's been quite a while.
We took the full course down
because I want to rework on it
based on the feedback many of you sent us.
The first thing you told me was that the lessons were too long.
45 minutes, 60 minutes,
70 minutes, sometimes even longer, okay?
It is easy to lose focus sometimes.
It's easy for you to omit part of this, part of that,
and dilute whatever you should learn and you should achieve
with the amount of energy and time you put in.
So I think that's very, very reasonable
and very, very considerate feedback.
And for nowadays, everybody is very busy.
What you wanted was something closer to 15 minutes,
enough to nail down one or two important points, solid points,
and you can remember and you can practice immediately,
and easy to manage on daily practice.
Okay, I thought about that,
and I think you are right.
Shorter lessons take some of the stress off,
and you can really focus on a shorter stretch,
and you have more time to practice,
more flexibility to practice.
So we cut and edit the lessons into small pieces,
shorter clips, roughly 15 to 20 minutes.
20 minutes most.
We're trying to keep most of them around 15.
But no worry, all the original contents are all there.
None of them,
not a bit of them are left out.
So the second thing you keep asking is for a textbook.
And this time,
the lessons come with a full textbook and a workbook in ebook format,
for the time being.
Okay.
We may publish paper versions after this very extremely busy season,
maybe several months, half a year later.
But we have the e-version for you guys now.
So writing both has taken a lot of energy and time.
So we'll be releasing the course session by session.
Not everything is finished yet.
But the first two sessions,
with the textbooks and the workbooks, are almost done.
It's under vigorous proofreading, okay? And adjustment.
The thing is done.
So, the third thing, I'm also arranging our live sessions.
Technically, it's a mixture of lecturing, group coaching, and Q&A,
when it is necessary, okay.
Q&A. Alright.
So that's what I want to share with you guys.
Thanks for your trust,
your patience,
and especially your passion for learning Chinese language,
Chinese characters, Chinese culture with us.
Okay.
At the end of the message, you will find a link.
You find it in the description below,
in the description, you will see a link.
Please fill out the form, and we will continue our conversation there.
Let us shape the course more closely around
how this class learns and how I teach it, okay?
So, see you in the conversation,
and see you in the class soon.
Thank you.
