The process includes customizing a moody burgundy wreath, crafting an abundant, asymmetrical basket centerpiece with foraging-inspired elements, and incorporating vintage textiles and DIY gingham lampshades to complete the cozy, seasonal look.
Today we're going to be decorating my dining room for fall
and I'm also going to show you
how I put together a fall centerpiece
full of whimsy and storybook charm.
I'm starting with
this moody deep burgundy leafy wreath that I found at Hobby Lobby.
I wanted it to look a little
more wild and untamed and have a nice contrasting pop of color
so I'm tucking in a few bittersweet
branches that I found from Amazon.
These have truly been one of my favorite purchases this
year.
I've used them in
several places
throughout
my home
and I just love
how they look.
I wanted
my autumn centerpiece to feel like something
a storybook critter might bring home after a day
out foraging. I'm going for a really abundant look with flowers
and foliage spilling out all
over the edges of the basket.
I'm using a vintage basket and building an asymmetrical arrangement
with a fairy tale pumpkin on one side
and some moody deep purple and dusty pink florals on the
other side. I will then be tucking in some wild blackberry stems
and bittersweet branches that
cascade
over
the
sides
of
the
basket
to
make
the
whole
arrangement
look
wild
and
full.
These
little
brown gingham shades are my take on the ones I saw at Green Row.
They were a bit more involved to
make than some of the other ruffled shades I've done
but they cost a fraction of the price so I
think
it
was
well
worth
it
and
honestly
I
think
they
turned
out
really
cute.
For
the
dining
room
table I decided to use a wool blanket as a table runner.
This is a vintage Ralph Lauren blanket in
the Brittany pattern that I've had for well over 20 years
and it's one of my favorite things to pull
out every fall. The colors work perfectly
with the autumn palette I'm using this year especially with
the
basket
center
piece
I
created.
