I don't know what they figure like actors like just
do on a regular day but we're like the most
regular people ever. We still get in trouble
with our parents when we don't take the trash out.
What made me want to get Jalen in front of the screen?
It wasn't me, it was Jalen. Jalen is a
natural. Jalen does a great job of staying humble.
It's one thing for me to say hey I'm a humble
person but for other people to say it
then you know it's really something. What's up y'all it's
Jalen Hall and I play Filthy in the crossover and this is days off.
When I was like six we went to
showcase for a acting camp.
I'm on the edge of my seat the entire night and I'm
like wow I'm really amazed at it
and that's kind of really when I knew that I
had a love for it. I told my mom I
was like I want to go to the camp that's
where I met my agent and then the rest is history.
It wasn't easy but we made it
happen. Jalen had to go from public school to
home school. I was missing too many days
because of work and traveling. It was
really convenient for my career.
Balance is really important to Jalen. The industry,
they grow up so fast. Reading, auditioning, coaching.
So whenever he has a break, I
let Jalen be a kid. Playing video games all day long.
I'm a gamer. Throwing through.
My favorite video games probably consist of like Madden
or 2k. I got two PCs in
there and I'll be playing a lot of games.
I'm trying to get into streaming, but
And it's a good relaxer for me.
It's therapeutic.
I was a hair stylist.
I had a hair salon.
I gave up everything for Jalen.
I love it.
No regrets.
It's true dedication.
It doesn't happen overnight.
It's not a walk in the park.
It is not.
There's a saying, you hear a thousand no's
before you hear one yes.
That's true.
When I first started, it was rough.
And then just out of nowhere, I booked two jobs,
one of them being an All-American, and that set me up.
If you hold on to your dream, it's not impossible, right?
and then when you get it, it makes you feel
that much more great about yourself
because you persevered through all of that
and now look where you are.
My first time seeing Jalen on TV,
man, I threw a party at the house.
I cried, still cry.
That's my baby.
We was just on the plane yesterday
and I was watching a movie and Jalen was in it till
and I was still doing this.
And we've been promoting for darn near a year
and I still cry because that's my baby.
Our relationship with DaVinci, my bro,
it started when he came to All-American.
And it surprised me because I wasn't excluded
or anything like that, but it's like,
what can an 11-year-old really have
that much to talk about, right?
We're going to half court and then y'all
are sprinting through, ready?
Same thing coming back.
Look at the layup, Jaylen.
The role that I play is very important for TV production
because it has to look real.
So as a trainer, you have to make sure that one,
your guys are camera ready.
There's so many little things,
And then there's the actual basketball aspect of it.
We were ready to get right to work
and I really got to show my creativity
and I really got to explore different options.
And I could definitely take that to my next project.
And that's the beauty in learning where you are
so you can take it to where you're going.
Jalen and I met at the tail end of 2020, start of 2021.
His mom just wanted to get him active.
During the pandemic, a lot of us were just at home eating.
He wasn't a natural ball handler, so it was a process.
You're gonna have to always work on it.
and he puts in the work, but you can see it.
We went through, like, intensive training,
running drills, shooting dribbles,
and playmaking and finishing.
It was really satisfying because you could see the change.
I play 2K. You know, I watch basketball,
so it's like I wanted to get as good as that.
Your mother's cooking.
Make sure you're getting under it, extending.
Being on the series, Jalen's able to be himself.
He's able to be a kid.
He's always himself, but he's truly happy on the crossover.
What motivates me to get to my goals is my goals.
I know I'm not there yet, you know, so I gotta get there.
First, we gotta acquire generational wealth.
Like, I'm talking about Jalen Jr. Jr. Jr.
to be the richest guy on his block, you know?
And it's not even just about money, it's about providing.
I'm still looking at that dream, and that starts now,
and that starts with the work ethic.
A lot of the players who we train
are first generation, trying to make it out,
trying to break generational curses.
He doesn't have to do this,
but he still comes and puts forth effort
no matter what, like he does.
I'm most proud because he's mine.
And I'm truly proud of Jalen.
He's doing an awesome job.
He's a good kid.
He loves his craft and he loves people.
Days off are important because
you don't want to get burnt out.
So it's good to have, you know, work
and be successful in your career,
but it's also good to be a kid, you know, have fun.
and that's the happy balance.
