Maryland Senator C. Anthony Muse was involved in a hit-and-run incident where he struck a vehicle's mirror and a city tree. Despite evidence of intoxication and surveillance footage contradicting his claims, he was not charged with a DUI. The report highlights a \"two-tier justice system\" where a lawmaker received preferential treatment from police.
James Kaufman, World
News Report today.
Video drunk Maryland Senator hits and runs
and then hits a tree up on the curb and is not charged for obvious DUI.
This is complete BS.
Imagine if this would have been me or you.
This officer needs to be fired for not charging the Senator for DUI.
First, Senator Muse takes a mirror on a car out just a few hundred
yards from where he thought he would park up on a curb and hit a tree.
Little did he know there was someone
in the vehicle that he struck and called 911.
And everything was caught on the city's own video cameras
and the officer's body camera.
shows Muse himself behind the wheel maneuvering
the SUV for several minutes before getting out
and walking away alone. He was run down by someone
who demanded he walk back to the car he just hit
and leave his information or give his information to the driver.
Nothing to see here, right? Or is
there? Let's take a look at Maryland's two-tier justice system.
During the past month, we fought
for Annapolis police records
of the incident involving Senator C. Anthony Muse we recently
obtained the body worn camera footage are you still telling it
or yes i'll just talk to him
hey i'll start dealing with the Annapolis police
just want you to know my body cam's off
so huh my driver actually parked me here i'm a senator
and i'm there for the special
Oh, okay.
My driver.
I got you.
And he had to go home.
The vehicle had hit another vehicle's mirror.
That's correct.
Muse's recollection does not just contradict eyewitness accounts,
but also this surveillance footage we exclusively obtained
of the lawmaker parking the car, getting out, and walking alone.
Then there's the emergency dispatch audio.
911, where's your emergency?
My car was hit.
Okay.
And what is your first name? Dana.
Is the other vehicle still there with you? I'm not sure.
He didn't stop. I'm pretty sure he's intoxicated.
Um, but somebody saw him do it and they kind of went
and found him and said, did you know you hit that car?
And then he came back and gave me his information.
Annapolis City Police.
Okay, I'm going to stand by for a takeover along the 4th Street.
Look at the tree.
I'm not sure if he could be driving.
Arriving in Annapolis, please provide it.
Use several options to resolve the incident.
So I'll give the few options.
The easiest would be, I would say, so you could have someone come
and drive it off to wherever you need it to go.
To the west.
Okay, so if you want to have someone else come
and do that, we can do that.
I can have it get towed, and I can give you a ride to the West End.
I mean, those are the two options that I'm offering.
You mean his driver that initially parked up
on the curb that had to leave?
What a joke.
That's serious property damage.
That tree is probably worth several thousand dollars.
This is, well, those are some options.
I'd like to get those type of options.
Let's listen to the rest of it.
Bunch of field sobriety tests and then determine if you're good
to drive and then you can drive but so it's up to you
How are you getting over to the?
Well, they said that they're gonna tow it
Because it's on the sidewalk, okay
How would I get to a restaurant?
I was gonna say I don't know if you need me to give you a ride
I can give you a ride there
Huh, however, that's fine.
You're fine with that if you want me to give you a ride.
Yes, would you please?
Yeah, I can.
The governor will take care of it.
I'm sorry.
Yeah.
That's right.
It sounds like Senator Mews said the governor
or government will take care of that.
We sent questions to Governor Moore's office about the claims.
We did not hear back.
He said governor, as in Westmore himself.
Can you imagine not getting a DUI?
A hit and run.
He had to be chased down by someone that saw it happen.
And then he parked and hit a city tree in Swarth,
well, that was probably a felony by itself, parked up
on the curb as he did, and the officer had his car towed
and drove him back to his hotel so he could drink some more.
Wow, what a two-tiered justice system we have in,
I guess, Maryland and everywhere else.
Sinner Muse, well, that's a perfect name for him.
God bless, let me know what you think in the comments below.
