If you travel a lot you probably spend time in hotels, and nowadays most hotels have gyms. Some of course are better than others.
Because I travel so much for work I am in hotels ALOT and end up using the gym space. This is a new series where I review hotel gyms so you can know what to expect if you stay in a certain hotel.
This video we cover Tru by Hilton Hotel gym and give it my honest review.

The speaker reviews the gym at a Tru by Hilton hotel in Manassas, Virginia, as part of a new series evaluating hotel fitness centers. While the gym is small and can become crowded, it is praised for its cleanliness, high-quality equipment, and a helpful digital trainer for beginners. The gym receives an overall rating of 3.5 out of 5 stars.
Welcome back to another video.
I am starting a new series because I end up traveling so much for my
work for you know taking family trips.
I am always spending time in hotels so I always end up using
the hotel gym at least once during my stay.
So why not do a hotel gym review and then you'll
find out which hotels offer the best gym packages
and which ones not so much. Now we will be judging
the gym based on the size the quality of the equipment the cleanliness
and just overall giving
the gym a end rating once we get in there
and test it out now this particular hotel in question
is one of the Hilton hotels
and i've actually never stayed in one of these it is the Tru
by Hilton and it's got more of that family feel
to it it's a unique setup in the lobby and everything
as you can see in the overlay here it's uh it's different than
your typical average hotel we're
not too worried about the hotel per se we want to get into the gym
and check it out this particular
Tru by Hilton is in Manassas Virginia
and i love the atmosphere and feel to it immediately
when you come in you can tell it's more family
oriented family focused it's a great place to
stop if you're just stopping through
or like us we stayed here for a week and it was great because
they have a setup with board games
and stuff that the kids can do or you can do as a family
if you get bored in the room they have stuff
on the walls to tell you about everything that's
locally available that you can go
and check out in the immediate area so very cool features but we
are here for the gym review
so it is key card access only like most gyms and hotels to get into
it and we are going to get inside and see what
this gym is all about now again the criteria for
our gym rating for the hotel are going to be size quality
of the machines how many different types
of machines they offer the cleanliness of the gym
and just give it an overall rating at the end once
we get in here get a workout in tell you what you can
and can't do and see what this gym will get
And remember every gym and every hotel is going
to be a little bit different. I'm not sure about
the true gyms by Hilton.
They're probably all relatively the same, but every Hilton, you know,
if you go to Hilton Garden Inn, Hilton Home to Suites,
all of their gym spaces are always
different. Some provide more things than others.
Some are kept up kept better than others. Let's
see what this one can offer.
Now, before I get into showing you the gym, I'm going to get my
own workout on for about 40 minutes,
get my pump on and then I will be back to run you through
everything
this hotel gym has
to offer. There's
definitely more
than enough here
to get a workout
in. I've seen gyms with more machines
but they have plenty to get what you need to get out of
a workout. Now let's go over what this gym has to offer.
First point, space. Now when it comes to
space the gym is pretty small
so this is pretty much it right here got a little section back there
but that is it, this is the entirety
of the space, I mean you could fit like three maybe four people
in here comfortably depending on who's using what
but if you got multiple people back here
it is going to get crowded
so for space I'm going to give this gym a two out of five just because
it is pretty small and it is a normal sized hotel
so you may have multiple people coming in here to
try to work out and it is going to definitely get crowded
but is it enough if you're in here by
yourself for two to three people absolutely give it
a, we'll rank it up to a 2.5 out of 5 for space
now let's go over equipment we have
your basic gym equipment a little less than your standard
gym would have, I usually should see a little more on the machine side
but we do have the cardio
section over here so you've got your cardio machines
if you want to get your cardio in
and the fact that they've got multiple machines
means you can have multiple people doing their
cardio you can easily fit four people in here
if someone's using the bike back there to do your
cardio so you've got that and most people honestly come
in the gym not to lift weights in these hotel
gyms I usually see people on the cardio machine
so four machines in this small space not bad
at all and I usually do my cardio once a week
so if you want to come in here and get it on you've
got what you need on the cardio now getting
into the rest of the equipment they have one bench in
here I would like to see at least two in any gym
because one bench is never enough I hate it when
there's not enough benches
so if there's two people in here that want to use a bench you
easily fit a second one and it's not going to take up
a lot of space it is a heavy duty adjustable
bench it is a legit one
so give them points on the quality of that for sure now let's get into
the other equipment that they have over here they've got
a full set of dumbbells these are good
rubber plated dumbbells so if you drop them you're
not going to have that clanging banging noise they
are pretty high quality good dumbbells
a good set only goes up to 50 pounds but i mean for most
people 50 is more than enough for most
of your stuff obviously going to get into chest press
heavier i want to see usually at least up to 70 pounds
but 50 pounds not bad not bad at all
neatly stacked over here in the corner good choice
on the dumbbells for this gym for sure
now back here in this little cutout you've got
your kind of multi-purpose exercise area you've
got a little bit of space for doing like
calisthenics stretching whatever you need
You got one mat actually I see a second mat
so two mats good better than one always want to have multiple mats
You've got the box for doing box jumps using the box in various ways
Great piece of equipment and it is multi-purpose because it's got
the different lengths so you can flip it over for you know
Leveling up if you're someone who can jump higher for box jumps
and you want that higher level you just flip it on one side
Really good choice there. You've got the yoga balls.
This one's deflated. So definitely needs to be up kept
I will say I will give this gym a huge huge point
for one awesome feature and I don't know if this
was by mistake or intentional
but the lighting in here is supreme you got that great down lighting
that you always want to have in a gym
so if you're in here working out it really makes you have that
shadow on your muscles so it makes you feel better
when you're working out I hate gyms that have bad
lighting man lighting is such an easy thing
to just enhance the gym the workout experience i know
it's superficial but when you have good lighting
and you see all those muscular striations and all
those shadows that your muscles
are casting makes you feel better makes you more motivated to work
out harder and keep going
so lighting on point, five stars out of five stars for the lighting
in this gym. Now this is probably the best thing.
Great piece of equipment overall. You've got
storage for all the stuff. You've got kettlebells.
They only go up to 20 pounds. I would like to see
a heavier set of kettlebells for sure. Sorry, 25 pounds.
You've got the medicine balls up there.
I think they go up to 25 pounds as well.
You've got the pull-up bar. It's a solid sturdy bar.
this pull-up bar is legit, it is sturdy, it is multi-purpose
and i love it, this thing is awesome
so whoever thought of buying this, great choice
for this style, this size of the gym, something that
goes up on the wall like this and doesn't take up
a lot of space, it's really really well well
thought piece of equipment to get, i don't know
if it was part of the package, seems like all these
things came from the same company
but good choice, true by Hilton with this uh gym racks setup and
the beauty with this thing is at first glance it just looks like
a pull-up bar with storage but
this thing is multi-purpose because they have these TRX bands
or TRX ropes that come with it
so it is super uh flexible with different exercises
that you can do here, you know you
can do assisted squats and jumps, set these ropes up higher
and you can do your seated rows body
weight rows you can do, so many different exercises
if you know what you're doing and if you don't
know what you're doing, there is an awesome feature here i have
not seen in any other hotel gym there
is a touch screen a personal trainer tool whatever you want to call it
but it goes through every
piece of equipment that they have in here
so if you're someone who you know just decided to go
work out you felt motivated you've never done
anything before you come in here and you're like
what what do I do with this, you just come over here it's
a touch screen, you click on it and
they've got all these videos of exercises
that you can do and follow along check your form and
just uh really great for beginners and for people
who are not accustomed to training with this type
of equipment let's take a deeper dive into what we got here
so you know you can see foam roller
they can tell you how to use the foam roller very cool go back we got
the box whoa okay you see you got
your suspension straps the TRX cable
or whatever brand that is shows you the different ways you
can set it up on the pull-up bar right over here
so you come over here set it up bam there you go
so really really well thought out i love this i love
that it's touchscreen five for five stars
on this especially for beginners another cool thing
is they have a resistance band in here
resistance bands super underrated happy to see one
in here i would love to see a set i was only
able to find one um the resistance on it is not the strongest
but the fact that they have one is
great i would love to see a set you usually you can just buy
these in sets so that way you know
for the more advanced athletes
and workout folks you can use the heavy resistance band for the
beginners you can have their beginner set
and just neatly hang them up on the wall and uh really
great piece of equipment definitely would love
to see more bands in this gym now over here you have
the cleaning equipment so if you want
to wipe stuff down you have your hand sanitizer and you've
got towels so if you need to wipe down the equipment
or just wipe your sweat off i love to
see towels in a small gym like
this that's just you know thoughtful for your users goes above and
beyond speaks for that true Hilton feeling
that the rest of the hotel gives off so i think there
are a lot of well thought out things about this gym
and for the space you are maximizing it pretty
well with with the limited amount of space
and what you can put in here to give someone a good
workout now the gym is pretty clean i haven't seen it dirty i've
been in here a few times it's
usually pretty neatly put away it's being taken care
of the machines all work there's nothing in
here that's broken or needs repairing or you can't use
so someone is keeping tabs on this gym and
making sure that everything is good to go in it
so what is my overall rating for the gym in the
True by Hilton out of five i give it a solid 3.5 stars out of five
and that's actually good if i
had to give it out of 10 it'd be a 7 out of 10 let's say for example
but it is a solid place
where you can get a workout in i love that it's clean
at least this one in Manassas for the small
amount of space if you get a few people in here it can get crowded
but it's got everything you
need to get a decent workout in even if you're
at advanced levels you can find ways to maximize
your workouts in here especially if you do calisthenics
or a hybrid training routine
the dumbbells you could do a lot with that whole set
of dumbbells would love to see a higher weight
limit on them overall give this a solid 3.5 out of 10
so if you find yourself in a Hilton a True
by Hilton expect to see a gym set up like
this with all of these features i'm assuming it's
pretty universal across the True Hilton hotel
to see a gym similar to this now whether they have
more space in some hotels than others that may
be the case maybe they can fit more equipment in
there make it you know fit the space better
but overall this is kind of what you should expect
to see not bad Tru by Hilton maybe you guys will take some
of my suggestions into consideration
to upgrade your gym if you can if not still
a solid piece if you guys enjoyed this content
