Um, not, not a great look for the highest paid center
in the National Football League.
Not, not, not an ideal look.
And that is not the only negative play
from the Tyler Linderbaum sphere of film to watch.
We're going to get into that with the do we
have a center problem topic.
But it's on my radar.
I would just like to put that out there.
It is on my radar.
That ain't good.
But we got a lot to talk about.
We got to talk about perspective.
We've got to talk about Kirk Cousins potentially
in what was a meaningless,
unless you took the Raiders to cover,
a meaningless touchdown to fight your way back,
airing it out to Trey Tucker.
How that play could have unlocked a new level of the offense
because Kirk talked about Trey in his presser.
I thought he had some very interesting things to talk about.
We got the Kubiak presser.
We've got a lot to talk about.
We've got a lot to talk about, and we're going to waste no time.
Look, I turned 28 in a few months
and the metabolism that I grew up with that I was
blessed with is not quite working the same
as it used to in terms of having the proper
energy to go out and do different workouts
or making sure I don't have that little gut
developing because one day you're going to wake up
and be my age and realize, oh, something's
different.
I remember being 18 years old,
waking up off of five hours of sleep, going to school, practicing
for two hours for a basketball game, going to sleep,
waking up five hours later and doing it
all again with no energy lost.
And the main component of keeping some of that belly fat down
and boosting your energy is testosterone.
And the older we get as guys, the harder it is to unlock
that stored testosterone in our body.
And that's where Mars Men comes into play. Mars Men is a
natural testosterone supplement that is designed
to be efficient in unlocking the stored testosterone
thrown in your body that's harder to get to and to reach
and to use as you get older and one of
my favorite things about Mars Men is that they
do not shy away in showing every single ingredient
that goes into their supplement for a limited time
our listeners get 50 off for life plus free
shipping and three free gifts
at mengotomars.com that's mengotomars.com for 50 off and three free
gifts when you check out after you purchase
your mars men you will get a prompt asking you
who sent you where you heard about us make sure you shout out
the channel and tell them all aboard
raiders sent you so i think you know obviously we know
that it's a tale as old as time there's no
such thing as moral victories obviously there's not you win
or you lose not all wins and losses
are created equal but what's interesting
is i will say this about the raiders of 2026
it has been to say for one game a very enjoyable
watch we talk a lot about you know what's right
and wrong with coaching
and should they have drafted this player and when is this player
going to start over kirk cousins
and what's wrong with ashton gentry but what we fail to talk about
sometimes is that not only are we watching the nfl
because it's in our veins it's in our bloods
it's this unexplainable thing
that we can't you know we can't figure out or explain why we care
about it so much you just you just you know if you know we
also want to be entertained we also
want to feel the ups and the downs
and oh my god did you see that and wow what a play and oh my
gosh this guy's injured no what's going to happen
and again save for one game the raiders have put
on a show obviously i'm not saying that i'd rather be three
and three than six and oh but this time
last year it was a nightmare to watch raider games it
was an absolute nightmare where is this
pre-season pre-season pre-season 20 to 9 opener
to the Chargers okay with uh was it Geno Smith's
no no hold on hold on hold on that's that's
that's wait hold on stand by here 29 Chargers
Commanders yeah yeah yeah okay we beat
the Patriots awesome 20 to 9 to the Chargers horrific
41 points to a backup quarterback
of Marcus Mariota you lose on a blocked field goal to the
Bears the Colts beat you 40 to 6 you beat the lowly Titans by 10
and then you get domed 31 to
nothing against Kansas City this year
and this is a pseudo Kirk Cousins thing oops hold on sorry
this is a pseudo Kirk Cousins thing
and a pseudo schedule thing but our three losses are against
the undefeated 5-0 Chiefs by three points,
MVP Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills, who
are sitting at 5-1, lost by three points,
and then defending AFC champion Patriots.
And people have been saying, oh, this Raiders
scheduled the gauntlet, the gauntlet, and
yeah, we're not winning the games.
But nobody expected us to be competitive
or to look this good or to push this type of
roster ahead of where we should be.
We're sitting here at 3-3 with some winnable games coming up.
People are going to tell you that the Rams
and the Broncos and the Seahawks,
it's more of the same impossible schedule.
But we have proven, especially with how we played against the Bills,
that what happened against the
Patriots, look, the game got away from us.
These things happen sometimes.
And we're going to use that sentiment,
these things happen sometimes when we talk about Tyler Underbaum.
But you can tell there's a clear shift in the organization.
you can tell from Kubi X-Person yesterday
which we didn't watch live on the show
because he wasn't
on the podium so I couldn't get to it and I couldn't wait for him
but he's very upset
when we lose and he's very concise with
his thoughts and he's very knowledgeable
on exactly what we need to do to get this stuff right
and I see
the adjustments being made offensively, defensively
I see this team playing hard
I see the players playing hard and at the center
of it all is Kirk Cousins
because if we bring that tweet back up
I mean Kirk Cousins still
after, how many weeks has it been? Six.
He's still leading the league in touchdowns.
Now, Brock Purdy could pass him today if he has two.
But he's tied for first in touchdowns at 14.
He has only five interceptions.
He has fifth in the league in passing yards for that lowly arm.
And he's got a 3-3 record without having a Puka Nakua
or a Jamar Chase or a Justin Jefferson or a Drake London
or an Amon-Ra St. Brown.
Kirk Cousins has been a very good, steady hand
on what could have been a season that got away from us
if you don't beat up on the teams that you're beating prior.
So why are we talking about Kirk Cousins to Trey Tucker?
That play at the end of the game,
that wasn't, oh, the Bills are playing prevent, defense,
and blah, blah, blah.
Kirk, if they're playing prevent, defense,
you can't get anybody by them.
But that ability to unlock and to put on film
at some point Trey Tucker over the top,
that's going to open up the run game for us,
which desperately needs to be opened up
if we want to have any chance
that's still making like a legitimate playoff run
because right now we are averaging around 30 points
per game with no run game with no hugely impactful wide receiver except
for Trey Tucker every now and
again and Kirk Cousins
in his press conference yesterday said Trey Tucker can haul and he's
noticing and he noticed in this game
and he's noticing more that he's even faster than he
initially thought and that he needs to just shuck it
and Trey's going to go get it and he said I
played with people like Deshaun Jackson Trey Tucker can haul
and I do think that play at the
end of the game Trey Tucker now is on pace for close to 1100 yards
and eight touchdowns the more
we continue to get the ball to Brock
and the Michael Mayer Trey Tucker is going to get better
throughout the season and I expect him
to unlock another level of this offense because of what
happened at the end of this game there was another play
to Jalen Naylor I think that Kirk Cousins just
missed on and there are a couple plays where
in games before this he wasn't taking shots to Trey
Tucker when maybe he should have
and he's realizing now more than ever this is my time to unleash and
unlock Trey Tucker and I do think based off of what
was put on film against the Buffalo Bills in
that game with Trey Tucker specifically
because he had two touchdowns in this game that is going to
another element that unlocks his offense that again
is averaging 30 points per game when Kirk
Cousins threw that pick yesterday I was considering
is there a world where we go to Mendoza in the
next game because I don't know if there is anything
that Kirk can do right now that Mendoza can't we
know there are things that Mendoza can do that Kirk can't
however with the team being competitive
right now and Kirk leading the league
in touchdowns you can't bench him yet you just can't and I
thought he was okay yesterday I thought he played good enough
to win the game but the offense in
particular did not play good enough to win the game
and it wasn't his fault we had that stupid
push push fourth uh fourth
and one that turned into a field goal kick we had Ashton Gentry
getting blown up in the backfield on second
and one from the one and then the pick was definitely
Kirk Cousins' fault but it's only his fifth
of the year in a in a game in the first how many
didn't he have two interceptions in the first game
and then one in the second game so I think
Kirk Cousins is getting more comfortable with getting the ball to Trey,
and that's going to be massively important for us.
Now, what's also massively important
is that you hit that subscribe button, please.
About 50% of you that are watching
this are not yet subscribed to the channel.
We're trying to get to 17,000.
We are pushing.
We are under 200 away from 17,000.
Let's hear a little Clint Kubiak presser from today.
Ready when you are.
I believe so.
We'll see.
But I'm counting on him, you know, working back into the fold.
Tonka.
What do you want to be like about Caleb Blackman's game?
Caleb was prepared.
You know, there's some good and bad.
You know, I see him as a young player that's continuing to improve.
When you went to the third quarter,
is there any common thread you can see?
Third quarter's got to be fixed.
When we got the ball with two minutes to go before half,
I said if we want to be serious about
like winning and controlling this game
the next time the bills touch the ball
because it was it was what was it was 13 10 I believe
Buffalo then and then we got the ball at half I said
the next time the bills touch the ball
it should be 24 to 13 we should go double dip
on them like the Patriots did to us like really good
teams would do and instead we kicked the field goal
which was okay we got down there we kicked
the field goal and then we went three
and out instantly we got to figure out a way to capitalize
on those opportunities.
Overall, it's just a complete lack
of production. It's really putting us in a bad spot
as a team, not getting it done, getting outscored in the third quarter.
As a coaching staff, we're hard at work trying to
identify what are those common things and what do we need to do to
put our players in a better position because
yesterday was a great example of how much it can hurt you and it did.
So we're looking at our process at halftime,
at what we're asking the players to do coming out in the third quarter,
and that's a major point of emphasis.
Clint, when you have a team that you're trying to build for long term
as well as this year, it's one thing when young players make mistakes,
but when veterans, guys that you paid as free agents to come in
make those mistakes, how is that exacerbated in the frustration level?
Well, you know, this is the least perfect game in the free world.
Everybody makes mistakes, coaches and players, veterans and rookies.
And so it's really identifying
who are your guys that you can count on, you know,
and that's a body of work.
And the more accountable players
that we can have that we learn to trust,
those are the guys that get more playing time
and get more opportunities.
So that's coaching too.
You know, the more you learn about your coaching staff
and yourself, you know,
you put different guys in different leadership roles.
So, but I don't expect our guys to be perfect.
It's a full-speed, four-quarter game with bodies flying everywhere,
but it's really the guys that are accountable,
especially in the toughest moments.
Those are the guys that you really rely heavily on.
Coach, going back to the start of the third quarter,
is that a mindset-type thing to try to get
these guys to go out a little bit faster
or maybe a little bit more energy, or is it a combination of them?
I do.
I think that has a lot to do with it.
I think offensively, first play of the second half,
we've got to play on,
And, you know, I think we have a good play versus what they called,
and we didn't execute up front.
And so you have to get all 11 guys playing well.
And so that's my challenge.
I wish somebody would ask him about the pass, pass, pass on that drive
that we went three and out and kicked the ball back to him.
Way to attack it, though.
Sorry to keep talking about the third quarter,
but it seems like in the second half in recent weeks,
It's like opposing defenses tend to uptick the pressure
where it feels like Kirk Cousins is dealing
with a lot more pressure on heads.
What are you seeing from defenses in the second half,
or that's more of a drop-off in production from the offensive line?
I would have to look at that more.
Obviously, teams make adjustments,
and it's no excuse for us not to protect,
especially on that first play.
We've got to have the guys ready to play.
And like I said earlier,
I'm really excited about the challenge of attacking that
and improving that.
You brought up the inefficiency
in the red zone yesterday being unacceptable.
Just where did you see things didn't go right in that situation?
Put in a Mendoza red zone package.
I'm going to say it and manifest it until it is done.
Yes, well, you know, key fourth and one.
You know, we have a penalty.
You know, we dropped a ball in the red zone, you know, in two minutes
right before half, had an opportunity
to go score before half, didn't get it done.
Penalties, lack of execution, it's not one thing,
but I think mainly when you want
to be a good red zone team, you've got to run the ball
well in the red zone. We didn't do that.
To follow on that a little bit, you used a timeout
to prevent the 12-man penalty.
It's been a couple times that that's happened this year.
What are you seeing there and how
consequential going back to the red zone?
It would have been nice to have that timeout, I'm sure,
at the end of the first half. How consequential was that?
Yeah, that is, as a coaching staff, that's unacceptable.
Yesterday, Mike Washington had nearly doubled the rushing yards
just by having half of the carries.
Do you think that's schematically,
do you think they're just doing something in place to, you know,
combat against Asher versus Mike,
or do you think that there's another reason behind that?
I think we have to get production from all three of our backs,
and, you know, Mike Washington did some good stuff yesterday,
and, you know, I thought overall our backs,
you know, they ran harder yesterday.
I thought they broke tackles.
I thought they moved the line of scrimmage when things weren't there.
I thought Coach Omar did a really good job of challenging our guys.
I thought they had one of their better games,
and I expect that to continue to improve.
After the game.
When he first came back after the concussion,
what did you see from him?
Who was that?
What did you see from him?
Nothing.
When he was in the practice yesterday,
do you feel like it's more just his first game back,
or did you see that he gave himself opportunity to catch the ball?
He had targets.
He got called on, and we threw a double move to him,
and they had a penalty on him.
he caught a choice route. I thought Jalen,
it was great to have him back. You could feel his
presence out there and just got to keep finding ways
to get him the ball because he's a really
good player. He's a player that I'm counting on,
that we're counting on, that's going to continue
to ascend. After the game,
Kirk talked about him and Trey building trust. Clint, do you think
maybe going vertical more earlier in the game could help
in getting teams from stacking the
box? There you go, Hondo. Yeah,
Trey's showing that he can really stress the defense and yeah,
I agree. There's always any time
that you can push a ball down the field
it's going to open things up. I agree with you.
Tyler Linderbaum was pretty critical of his performance yesterday.
What did you make of how he played in his performance through
the first six weeks of the season?
I think he's been a leader on our offense. I think he's been a
major bright spot in our offense and a huge reason you know
why we were able to score on six of ten possessions
because of his leadership.
And for a guy that is hard on himself, that usually, you know,
tells you that he cares.
You know, he is a leader.
By the way, not to spoil my take,
we're going to watch some of the bad film on Tyler Linderbaum.
He had a bad game.
It happens.
Okay, it happens
It's the NFL.
You're going to get worse sometimes.
He had a bad game.
He has not been bad for six games.
He's been good for most of the games.
He is accountable, and that's Tyler.
I just, like, even though there's been limitations to the offense,
whether it's second half or run game,
you guys are still figuring out ways to put points on the board.
How much does that bring optimism, like,
once you guys are able to figure out that, you know,
we can take what we're doing even further?
Yeah, that was a big part of our message five minutes ago.
The object of the game is to score points.
and you know whether you're getting it done from the ground
or from the air or they're coming from
special teams or defensive scores as a team obviously it's a team game
and it's about about
outscoring the opponent so um we're never gonna you know we always want
to be great in all facets
okay but you know you're going to play to your strengths
so our you know moving the ball and
scoring points is was good yesterday
however you know what do you got to do to get over the hump
you got to score you got to score on all five possessions
in the red zone not just two of five
You talked after the game about the challenge that you guys had
that probably was a mistake.
Are you comfortable with where the process
is in terms of when those things happen
and how that communication goes?
I am.
The communication is great, and, you know, I challenged it.
I thought the guy made the catch, and like I told you guys yesterday,
you know, a four-yard catch is not
something you need to be challenging.
So, considering what you do on the season,
how do you evaluate yourself as a first-year head coach for six weeks?
yeah you know um i i don't know why i'm laughing
it's it's i think like an uncomfortable laugh
right there because i just always think about
our team i'm evaluating our team you know and
one person as a coach one player that's really good
or bad is irrelevant you know so how would
i evaluate our team right now and i evaluate us as a three
and three and three team you are what
your record says you are we have everything
in front of us we have a really good football team
coming into our place this week
and like i just told the guys you know it's it's everything's in
front of us so what's our decision going
to be is it going to be oh here we go again or is it
going to be oh let's attack this next let's attack this next game
and put ourselves in position and
you know that's what i love about these guys like
these guys are these guys aren't aren't down yeah
we're down yesterday but not today today we're
getting better we're making corrections we know
all the good things that we can do.
We know what's ahead of us and what we can
accomplish as a team, and there's a lot
of positivity in that, and
that's where I'm at right now.
What kind of rhythm has Darian Porter found the last
couple weeks? Yes,
he's a competitor. He's got really
thick skin. He's a guy that has
been picked on by the media,
myself, and April, and he
got benched, and now he's back playing,
and he's got thick skin. I like him,
man. I like what he's about.
Can I just say
is there like a different energy
and vibe to Clint Kubiak right now he feels like with every
close loss to an opponent it feels like he's gaining more confidence
in the team and his
ability to put points on the board
which is the most important thing for him because he's the
offensive play caller we can't run the ball effectively
and other than Trey Tucker we have
no impact wide receiver
and we're putting up 30 a game we played the chiefs we played the bills
right down to the end we could be five and one we could
be the number one seed in the AFC if two
bounce two balls bounce our way you are what your record shows
but i i do feel like clint kubiak in
that moment there there's a vibe about him that's
that's starting to gain a little bit of confidence
so look, let's just read this
and then let's all have a collective
deep breath about it all
let's get through it
Do the Raiders have a problem at center?
Warren Mitchell on RaidersBeat.com
The Raiders have heavily invested
heavily in their offensive line over the last two years
but no position along the offensive line in Las Vegas
received a bigger boost than Tyler Linderbaum
on Sunday against the Bills
Linderbaum turned in arguably his worst performance of the season
and one play in particular has been making
the rounds, we watched it
PFF uh gave Linderbaum the lowest offensive lineman grade
on the team 46.8 and their
analytics indicate he was particularly ineffective
as a run blocker 29.8 on the season PFF ranks
Linderbaum as the number 22 center in the league
with an overall grade of 58.8 for the sake of
reference um Linderbaum's 2024 grade
is uncomfortably close to the PFF grade
Jordan Meredith got a year ago 57.7 like everyone along
the Raiders offensive line Linderbaum is
running a new system under head coach Nick Kubiak
and six games is a small sample size for that
reason it's too early to hit the panic button
but without question the Raiders need to get more
consistency from the center position going forward
that that's my take look has he been perfect no
has he been great no but it takes a little bit
for your offensive line to mesh and again with
all these issues we're putting up 30 points
per game the defense needs to find a way to get a
little more off the field on third down
but the main issue for us other than running the ball
effectively is the red zone
and I do think Nick Kubiak is going to find a way to score more points
and I'm going to tell you right now I expect us
to beat the Rams we're going to get into that
preview as the week goes on but the Rams now have
no Davante Adams Kyren Williams is complaining
about not getting the ball Stafford is a statue he's
this is his worst year as a Ram I think we're
gonna beat the Rams to go to four and three shout out to my five
