The number one excuse on the internet
for why people can't get in shape is I don't have the
time. But let's face it, if you have five minutes to sit
and take a ----, then you have five minutes
that you can spare to work out.
In this video, I'm going to give you a five minute workout and
I'm going to give you three separate styles
of workouts that you can do that only take five
minutes of your time.
The question is, is five minutes enough to get a decent workout in? The
short answer is yes.
Five minutes a day is better than zero minutes a day.
So find five minutes and
follow along. You can pick this upper body,
you can pick this core or this lower body circuit.
Now this first exercise slash five minute workout
is going to be push-ups and we're going to do a
push-up pyramid. One thing to consider
with something like five minute workouts is you're
not going to get too much time to rest
because you have to maximize your time. All you have is
five minutes. So you're going to have to do five minutes of solid work.
So here's what I want you
to do. You're going to set up in your push-up position.
We're going to do two different kinds
of push-ups. It's going to be regular push-ups and diamond push-ups.
And we are going to pyramid
style. So we're going to start with one,
and then we're going to do two, and then three, then four,
then five, all the way up as high as we can go in a five-minute period.
So basically, we're going to
We're going to do one pushup, go to diamond, one diamond pushup.
Then we're going to do two pushups,
two diamond pushups, just like this.
And you keep going off one, two, three, switch to diamond.
One, two, three, back out. One, two,
three, four, back in one, two, three,
four, back out. One, two, three, four,
Five and you're gonna keep going until you gas out
and fail now once you fail
However high you end up going you're gonna take a 30 second pause
So this is the maximum rest that you're gonna get
in your five minute of workout 30 second pause catch your breath
Shake out the lactic acid whatever number you went up
to you're gonna go back down to one if all you did was six
you're gonna start back
at six two three four five six switch to your diamonds
one two three four five six
and then five four three two one five four three
two one and you go all the way back down to one rep
so you go as high as you can go
you go as low as you can go in that five minute period
and that's it that is your
five minute push-up workout.
And if you can't do it, there is no shame in doing knee push-ups
and then knee diamond push-ups.
Instead, it's going to do the same thing, just at an easier
level. That's exercise one.
That is your first five minute round that you can do. You can choose
the push-up five minute round. Now let's talk about core.
How can you work those abs in five
minutes? So five minute core workout.
It's going to be a very similar approach. We're going to go
fast-paced very few rest periods
in between each set we're gonna continuously work those
ab muscles and get the most out of the five minutes that we have
so it is going to be a
bicycle crunch circuit very simple i want you
to set up hands on your head like this and we're
going to be moving our elbows in this crunching mo
in this twisting motion your feet are going
to pedal just like a bike you can either do it in a circular motion
or you could just pedal
back and forth back and forth what we're gonna
do is you're gonna lay back hands on your head
like we talked about raise one foot up you're gonna reach across
with that opposite elbow
and all we're gonna do pedal those feet reach
with those elbows for the opposite side of the knee
you're gonna go for 30 seconds just like this
and you're gonna do 15 second hold on one side
15 second hold on the other side just like
this and that will give you one minute of solid work
after that you take 30 second break
and you're gonna do it again 30 second break and you do it
again as simple as that five minutes of solid ab work
and you're done that's it now if bicycle
crunches prove to be too difficult
or you can't get that full range of motion into the bicycle
crunch you can do one of two things either go as far as you can reach
and still try to do
the full bicycle crunch even if it's just
this that works just get those shoulder blades up
and get those knees kicking like you're riding a bike
or option b is gonna be just to crunch
so you're gonna do 30 seconds
of solid crunch work just coming up just like that nice and easy
getting that spinal flexion in and then 15 seconds crunch up
and hold 15 second rest and you're gonna
continue with the sets just like you would
with the bicycle crunch that is your second option
of a five minute workout with emphasis being
on the core now let's go to option number three legs
leg day body weight only five minutes at home
no excuses legs is very simple as well we are
going to focus on the quads primarily
so what we're going to be doing is a squat circuit now
same concept five minutes maximize the five minutes that you have
so what you're gonna do
very simple a pyramid down from the top for legs
so what we're gonna do you're gonna do
10 jump squats so just like this squat down jump up
as high as you can get 10 plyometric
squat jumps as soon as you finish the 10 you go
into 10 air squats just like this pick a pace
that you can stick to and just follow through you're going
to keep going until you hit your 10
then as soon as you finish your 10 air squats you take
a 10 second rest shake it out do what you
need now remember however many reps you do that's
the amount of seconds of rest that you take as
soon as your 10 second rest is up you're gonna go right back down
and we're gonna do nine jump
squats and you're gonna get your nine reps in as soon
as you finish your nine reps nine air squats
finish those nine air squats
and you're gonna take a nine second rest after the air squats
then we go eight seven six five four three two one
and done and that should take you about five
minutes to complete if you end up having extra time
then you start your pyramid and you go back
up from one maximize your five minutes
that you have now i'm sure you can find five minutes in
your day to do a workout and i'm sure you could
