Meanwhile, there'll be no return for Jalen Hurts.
He's placed on injured reserve with blood clots.
This is going to be a lot more than one week, of course.
We saw this happen to Victor Wembanyama.
We've seen it happen to Chris Bosh.
It's happened to players in both college and professional sports.
And it's usually a return to action, but it's extended.
And then the question becomes, if Philadelphia can't get back on track,
what ends up happening with Hurts?
Now, here is the good news from this.
There's the silver lining, Joe, which is the Eagles,
after all of these years of holding Tanner McKee
and not trading Tanner McKee to other teams
are finally going to give him a good look I'm very
curious to see how he does he is you know arguably
been one of the most valuable backup quarterbacks
in the NFL they've wanted to to see what he could
do anytime he plays in the preseason or regular
season he does well but he's finally going to get
this test now the only question is without
Lane Johnson without their starting four running
backs you know he's sort of up against going into
every game but credit to Philadelphia as bad as they've looked
and all these injuries that they
look Joe they've been within one play
the last two weeks of winning games so not not time to
write them off just yet no but i think
the situation is a very difficult one as you're
alluding to you don't have Lane Johnson you don't
have Cam Jordan you don't have Saquon Barkley
healthy you don't have Devonta Smith really
healthy even though he's going to try to play
today so what are we throwing the key into is the big question
and yes the the eagles have found
ways to lose these last couple weeks
but i think the loss is the thing to target and really discuss
because losing is contagious just like winning is contagious.
The Eagles sit at two and three right now,
and Hurts is going to miss at least the next four weeks.
And when this news came out on my shows on Fandom NFL on YouTube,
I was talking about, be prepared
to be without him for the rest of the season.
And people said, well, isn't that being a little hyperbolic?
And aren't you kind of putting the cart before the horse?
Which I said, no, because this is a very serious situation
with a guy that you have a lot invested in.
He's your franchise quarterback.
And this year is starting to look like it doesn't belong
to the Philadelphia Eagles.
And you're right.
Maybe this is a chance for you to evaluate
the rest of the talent on the team.
I was actually very high on the guy they drafted, Colt Payton.
I thought he's a very interesting, raw talent,
skilled quarterback, a lefty who can really
sling it, big guy who can really move as well
and get out there and get yards all over the
place.
Very similar to Josh Allen in terms of just
a bigger quarterback who can run and really
sling it.
Yeah, you know, played in a smaller conference
and all that stuff, but a very interesting
athlete.
Sounds familiar, doesn't it?
So you're going to get some evaluation of some
of these quarterbacks potentially over
the next couple of weeks and see how things go.
But if you're in fantasy leagues, if you have
Jalen Hurts, you have to really look at yourself in the mirror,
especially in super flexes and go,
okay, I need a more permanent solution
because I don't know when or if Jalen Hurts is going to
return this year healthy and what the Eagles
are going to look like when that juncture happens.
So I think it's a very tricky situation right now.
The Eagles find themselves. And for those
ancillary pieces, the Smiths, the Barclays,
all those other pieces you might have also a very
difficult situation where I think you
should be looking for other options.
