Why is Trump now encouraging mail-in voting?

We don't want them to do mail-in ballots
because it's gonna lead to total election fraud.
Postmen are in big trouble now.
Mail-in ballots are inherently corrupt.
That was Donald Trump, who for the last six years
repeatedly was warning Americans
about the dangers of voting by mail.
But now there's this.
Vote early, vote by mail,
or vote in person on election day, November 3rd.
So why is Trump encouraging Americans to use a system
his own administration has been trying to restrict.
Well, we're just weeks away from the US midterm elections
and control of Congress is on the line.
And Republicans have a problem.
Data shows that 26% of Republicans voted by mail
in the last election.
So Trump's war on mail-in ballots
could undercut the Republican base.
And even Trump himself has reportedly voted by mail
twice in Florida elections this year.
It's not just Trump telling people not to vote by mail.
His administration has tried to make it harder to do so.
For example, in March, Trump signed an executive order
aimed at tightening the rules around mail-in voting,
but the courts intervened and blocked the order.
Calling the mail-in system corrupt for so many years
may also have another effect.
As millions of Americans prepare to cast their ballots,
the question isn't how people will vote.
It's whether they'll trust the results
once those votes are counted.
