Today at 3 25 p.m Sedgwick County Emergency
Communications began receiving multiple reports
of a vehicle that had driven through
a youth soccer game at Stryker Complex located at 2999
North Greenwich in Wichita.
When officers and paramedics and firefighters arrived
they located a scene on a field on the west end of the complex
and they saw community members and
citizens rendering medical aid to those who were injured they
also located a truck on the west side
of the field the driver of that truck was still
with the vehicle along with two juveniles who were
inside the truck at the time of this incident
the driver of that truck is a 34 year old female
from Garden City.
She has been cooperative to this point in the investigation.
On the field,
two people were pronounced dead here at the scene.
One of them is a six-year-old male from McPherson.
The other is a 35-year-old male from McPherson.
They are not of family relation to each other.
10 of those 11 had traumatic injuries
and those injuries span from minor injuries like bruises
to extremely severe injuries
but at this point we believe those to be non-life
threatening. The ten additional people
with traumatic injuries are a five-year-old
female, a five-year-old male,
two eight-year-old males, a nine-year-old
female, a 28-year-old female,
a 32-year-old male, a 59-year-old female, a
a 65-year-old female, a 68-year-old male.
One additional person was transported
by Sedgwick County EMS to an area hospital
with non-traumatic medical issues, and that is a 61-year-old female.
We are still working to determine how this happened
and why this happened.
