Police right now are still hunting
for the person who pulled the trigger.
Fox 5's Kelly Kennedy joins us right now live
from the scene at 53rd Street and 7th Avenue.
Kelly, what is the latest on this?
Yeah, Arthur, this shooting happened
a little bit before 12:30 this afternoon
here at this E-Train station at 53rd and 7th Avenue.
If you take a look behind me, you can see crime scene tape is still up.
This is still closed to the public at this point.
But this happened on a Saturday afternoon.
As you can imagine, a lot of people out just enjoying the weekend.
And you can imagine just how scary this was for commuters
when they heard those shots ring out.
Now, I do want to show you some photos
of the person police are looking for.
Take a close look at your screen.
This is the suspect who police are trying to track down.
They tell us he was last seen wearing a red tracksuit,
a black vest, a black face mask, and he had a black backpack.
Now, the NYPD tells us this all started
with an argument between two people on the E-Train platform
at the 53rd Street and 7th Avenue subway station.
Cops say that argument then spilled onto the train
and back onto the subway platform.
We're told one of those men pulled out a gun
and shot the other man in the chest.
Now, police say they're still investigating whether
or not this shooting happened on the platform or on that train.
The victim in this was rushed to the hospital, but sadly died,
and the suspect took off running down 7th Avenue.
Now, we spoke with some people
who witnessed this who tell us they're still shaken up.
All of a sudden, we heard like five live
rounds outside, and my daughter said,
oh, my God, there's a shooter.
People started hovering together.
She got out, and she looked right at him,
and he was looking right at her,
and he started shooting again, not at her, obviously.
And then she got back in and the other express train that was coming
on the subway train that was coming on the other side stopped
and she said there's a live shooter and she gave the motion.
And he still looked at her like, what?
And she did it again and then he called
and then we all hovered together and the guy shot again.
This was not a random act. Our detectives are the best in the world
and make no mistake, we will find this person.
Now the police have not yet released
the name of the victim in this case.
they say they're waiting to notify his family
but we are told that he is believed to be in his 30s
now police again still searching
for this suspect they're asking anyone with any information any
video anything that could help track
this person down to call Crime Stoppers that's
the latest here in midtown Arthur I'll
send it back to you in the studio
