Eagles fans, can we catch a break already?
Just when you think things can't get any worse,
quarterback Jalen Hurts is placed on injured reserve.
He will miss at least four games.
This is the 10 o'clock news. I'm Dawn Timoney.
Another major blow for the birds as QB1 is being
treated for a blood clot in his calf.
Our Jennifer Joyce is live in South Philadelphia tonight. So,
Jenny, how are fans taking the news?
Well, Dawn, it's a bummer for sure, but fans are okay.
And you know what, I think in the back of their minds,
they thought, you know, maybe this was a possibility,
knowing the seriousness of a blood clot.
But I can also tell you, Dawn,
fans still have hope for the rest of the season.
We knew it was bad, but not this bad.
Eagles fans dealt a big blow Saturday afternoon,
learning that quarterback Jalen Hurts is placed on injured reserve,
keeping him off the field for at least the next four games.
The news comes just two days after the team announced
that Hurts would miss Sunday's game due to a blood clot in his calf.
First off, prayers to Jalen.
Blood clots are a serious thing, especially if they're moving.
All the best, all healthy. But for us,
these next four games are probably the most important of the season.
Eagles fan Johnny Robinson flew up from North Carolina
to attend the Eagles-Panthers game, his first at the link.
He's here with family, including his aunt from Bermuda,
another lifelong Birds fan.
This trip was planned back in May
as part of her retirement celebration.
We were all a little, you know,
disappointed, but hey, Eagles are Eagles,
and we went to this stadium tour yesterday, and it was awesome.
Fan spirits remain high and emotions measured.
Everybody thinks it's a rebuild season,
and you know, we just got to start fresh next year,
and whatever happens this year, it's a rebuild.
Let's get a win this week and go from there.
Many fans aren't counting the birds out.
Instead, they're throwing
their support behind backup quarterback Tanner McKee,
who will start the game on Sunday.
I'm hoping for the best, I think,
especially with the return of DeVonta Smith
as a target for Tanner.
I believe that this team still has some life in it.
Tanner's got a big time stepping up, and I think he can do it.
I think he can do it all right
so let's all hope that he can do it. A sliver of good news maybe a
little bright spot is that if you do want to go
to the game tomorrow there are tickets available
and the price is pretty nice you can get a seat for about 90 bucks
which feels like a steal Don
absolutely Jen I know a lot of people are using
this opportunity to go to tomorrow's game
thank you so much and Jamie
and Pody will have much more on this and how the birds are looking
for tomorrow's game coming up a little later
in sports all right taking a live look now at the
Ben Franklin Bridge folks who are planning on tailgating
or heading out to tomorrow's eagles
game against the Carolina Panthers are going to want to bundle up
so Drew, how cold are we talking
we're talking that cold right there, Don
the coldest weather in six months is on the way for
the morning and it's a frosty start too
so if you got some moms outside bring them on in these are
our morning temperatures
when's the last time i remember seeing all these 30s across the area
it's been since April now we are in the 40s right on the water just
because the ocean water is in
the 60s so it pushes up the temperatures
a few degrees to keep the frost away right from the
beach but that is a cold start to our Sunday
and it's chilly for tailgating no question about it
so much of tailgating will be in the 40s
but by game time will be in the 50s here's the best part
about Sunday's forecast no wind so in that sun
so if you're in the sunny side of the Linc it'll
feel pretty good actually temperatures will be in the upper 50s
and it turns out this is the same
weather the birds had in London
so London's weather follow them right here to Philadelphia
so a great day in South Philly at the Linc
and I looked ahead not only into the upcoming work week
but right through the rest of the month
into Halloween we get back into the 60s which is
typical for this time of the year come Monday
and pretty much every single day for the rest of the
month through Halloween will be in the 60s.
That is the latest in weather. Dawn, we'll send it back
to you. All right, Drew, thank you.
Well, it is that time of year, Halloween decorations popping
up in neighborhoods all across the area,
but one display in Bucks County is stirring up controversy.
Our Jennifer Lee with more on why
this Bristol Township display has some folks so upset.
The Halloween display
in Bristol Borough shows bodies hanging from a tree.
The Bucks County NAACP is calling for it to be voluntarily removed.
We want to warn you, some might find this display disturbing.
Oh, well, I'm not sure I like those.
I'm sure when he did that, he wasn't thinking racial.
A Halloween display
in Bristol shows several bodies hanging from a tree.
While some accept they're meant to be decorations,
others in the community say it's deeply disrespectful and offensive.
It's a body wrapped in plastic with duct tape around it
and hanging from a tree,
not one but five, with a noose around the neck.
That's very inappropriate.
Carla Scott brought her concerns
to this week's borough council meeting and learns
no ordinances are in place to prevent such displays.
She hopes that can be revisited.
The council president says they've tried talking
to the homeowner about the display.
Just so you know, we did address this immediately.
It wasn't, I don't think it was up there for a few hours,
and our borough inspector was there the next day.
On Facebook, the Bucks County NAACP
is calling for the display's removal,
saying in part, for black Americans,
this imagery carries a painful historical significance
rooted in lynching and racial terror.
This is not about restricting Halloween celebrations
or freedom of expression.
It is about historical awareness,
empathy and respect for our neighbors.
My mind went back to what my ancestors went through,
being hung from trees with nooses around their neck.
I see where the people are coming from because, I mean,
I have a friend that's really, really upset about all this.
And I can understand. I mean, that's I've never seen that.
I mean, I'm 80 years old. I've never seen anybody decorate like this.
Fox 29 talked to the homeowner over the phone.
He says they're just Halloween decorations,
and there was no other agenda when he put them up.
He says he's sorry if it offended anyone.
I myself would take them down just to keep peace.
Maybe he didn't have the intent to offend people,
but because it does, maybe he should change it.
Despite the controversy and calls for the display to be removed,
The homeowner tells me he plans on keeping it all up through Halloween.

Thousands of No Kings protests held around
the country today for a nationwide day of action,
urging voters to make their voices heard ahead of the 2026 midterms.
Here in Philadelphia and other cities,
the No Kings Vote Early movement,
putting a new focus on early voting and election protection.
More than 30 events happening across the Philadelphia region,
with protests also passing our Fox 29 studios here in Old City.
At last check, the Trump administration and the White House
have not issued an official statement about the protests.
Ben Salem police say a man used fake paperwork
to get his hands on a rifle
at a Ben Salem Walmart and then walked out undetected.
Police say this man presented fraudulent clearance documents
for a Winchester rifle.
This was around 2 o'clock yesterday afternoon
at the Walmart on the 3400 block of Horizon Boulevard.
Investigators say surveillance shows him stealing the gun
and hiding it in a rifle bag before leaving through the garden area.
He was last seen heading toward a SEPTA bus stop in the area.
Anyone with information is asked to call Bensalem Police.
Developing tonight, the William Penn School District responding to its
decision to suspend all athletics at Penwood Middle and High Schools.
It comes as an outside investigator looks into an alleged
hazing incident involving the high school football team.
The district says the suspension was a difficult decision made out
of concern for student safety and it is not intended to be permanent.
The statement reads in part, quote,
we are taking steps towards resuming athletic programs
with measures in place to address our current concerns.
As we evaluate each team's culture and climate, we will identify areas
for improvement and address any gaps in safety precautions.
Teams may resume activities when the district determines
that appropriate measures are in place to support student safety.
Every step counts, of course, in the fight against Alzheimer's
and hundreds of people gathering for today's walk to end Alzheimer's
at the Berks County Heritage Center in Reading.
The money raised supports
the Alzheimer's Association's research efforts.
Fox 29 is sponsoring the walks for the 26th year,
and our very own Judea Murray served as today's emcee.
Next Saturday, the walk heads to Ocean City, New Jersey.
We hope to see you there.
Breast cancer survivors and families gathering today
for a special walk to support women fighting the disease
and honor those who lost their battle.
Our Ellen Kolodziej shows us how they are passing the baton of hope.
Organizers say this is more than just a walk.
It's a chance to raise awareness, to celebrate survivors,
and to remember all those lost to breast cancer.
It makes you feel like I'm not alone.
There's other people in my same situation.
Sharon Mayer says she had to be here today.
To support the other women that have breast cancer, I'm a survivor.
I had it in 2024, and it's very important to support the people
because it's a scary, scary, scary thing.
They call it the Philly Pass the Baton Breast Cancer Awareness Walk,
a chance to pass the baton of knowledge, support,
and empowerment to all those affected by this disease.
Well, for me, it's kind of personal.
my mother-in-law she passed away two years ago.
Reverend Jeanette Davis lost her mother-in-law
Gwendolyn Davis to breast cancer
so she says this event is a chance to honor her and help others.
It's also important to uplift and inspire other women
who may be going through the same
challenging battle and to help them
on their journey just to let them know that they're not
walking this walk alone.
And that's the goal of this walk to let women know they have so much
love and support and they do not walk alone.
In Center City, Ellen Kolodziej, Fox 29 News.
