Jalen Hurts out Sunday due to blood clot: Eagles react

Hurts is out for Sunday, so the backup will be starting, but it shouldn't be that bad because he works out with the second team anyway, so they should match pretty good. Got a blood clot and he plays? I mean, I'm not a physician, but you shouldn't even fly with a blood clot, should you? We got to protect him, all right? He's the franchise. We're not going to the Super Bowl without Hurts. well a really good point he's like it might actually work out okay because everybody's the second the second team is the eagles right now it's it's true um well this is a city of backups right i mean and and you know it's unfortunate because tanner mckee had kind of a regressed um training camp and and you know pre-season we saw so you know can he we've seen him be pretty good serviceable and you know what can this team win this division with this quarterback maybe who knows maybe and that's the nice thing is right so first of all obviously you look up in new york and Jameis Winston he's doing okay right now the wheels are going to come off of that there's a reason why that man is not a starting quarterback in this league right so we all know that the commanders are a hot mess and dallas has no defense yeah so it's totally possible for this team to to still win the division depending on how they can they can rally through this stretch here the thing that I'm concerned about is how long Jalen Hurts is going to be out how long are is you know Smitty and and whatnot because that stretch there's a stretch coming up here where it's division opponents just bum bum bum bum it's yeah and that's what makes me a little bit nervous because those are must wins let's hear from the team including Tanner McKee hoping the best for him um obviously some things are bigger than football and his health is obviously that um so hoping that his health is is most important and getting taken care of and we have great doctors here that are going to do everything that they can definitely want wish you could have Jalen out there you know he's a great player and everything and you know we're hoping that he recovers well from you know what is happening but at the same time we trust Tan ner we trust that he's gonna step in and you know do his job it was crazy when i found out um i found out like right after we had walked through and got on social media and just said breaking who, you know, Jalen Hurts is out, I'm like, what's going on? I don't know much about blood clots or how they work or the long-term effects of them, but to play in that game and to lead the team in a final drive like that and then fight through what he's fought through, it's really cool, and, yeah, I hope he gets well soon. Wait, I kind of, before we get to the injury report, I kind of feel like that's wild, that there's been so many instances of news going on in the Eagles facility and the players themselves are finding out on social media. They find out when we find out. Like Markell Bell finding out. That's crazy to me. It is interesting. Maybe they're worried that players will leak it out or something. I don't know. I don't know. Here's the injury report. And get your glasses on. I have heard that Barkley's progressing nicely. I don't know if that's true, but that's what I'm hearing. And so that would be cool. Limited participation. So the difference between yesterday and did not practice today and yesterday is um Drew Kendall right he wasn't he DNP yesterday yeah and there's Smitty too so yeah love that yeah um and you know the vibe i just got from what we just heard Breland i didn't hear doom and gloom no i heard neutral i kind of didn't hear like oh gosh the season's over i don't hear that from these guys so that's good but i don't think they can afford to be that they're not wired that way they have to just embrace the next man up mentality and i know that that sounds so stupid and cliche but like they really do believe those coachisms right like and that and that's that's the the name of the game right and stranger things have happened we all know what backup quarterbacks can do in the city and it wasn't just Nick Foles you know they they had several Jeff Garcia going way back yeah there was a ton there was a ton of different no I just meant like that team on itself had a bunch of pro bowlers out as well so it wasn't just the quarterback situation. So we're looking at something maybe a little bit similar. So I don't know. I just, I feel like I just have to be cautiously optimistic, but if it doesn't work out, then it's like we all, you know, what can you do?
