Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez
is actually in Michigan this week campaigning
with a Democratic nominee for Michigan's Senate seat,
Dr. Abdul El-Sayed, and her donation to
his campaign really highlights the amount
of money being spent in some of those swing districts
across the country.
According to the media tracking firm Ad Impact, more than $10 billion
has already been spent on just ads in this midterm election.
In Michigan, the spending in
the race between El-Sayed and the Republican nominee,
Mike Rogers, has already exceeded
$260 million. And there's still several weeks to go.
AOC announced today that she's transferring
$1 million to El-Sayed's Senate campaign, which is notable.
But if AOC decides to run for president,
she would need Michigan support early on in the race.
AOC is not the only one out campaigning
in battleground districts.
President Trump has also been lending his political capital to
vulnerable candidates. Trump is in Georgia today appearing
with Senate GOP nominee Mike Collins,
who is challenging Senator John Thune.
This is the first time that I've made a transfer of this
kind and certainly our first transfer of this kind
to a Senate candidate as well. And I believe so
deeply in how important this state is.
I believe so deeply in the transformational power of Abdul's
leadership. You have to go out and vote.
So pretend I'm on the ballot, get that 49% of the
people. And if you have the 49, you're gonna have Rick,
you're gonna have Mike, you're gonna have
every one of these people.
Now both AOC and President Trump have also been campaigning
here in New York, primarily upstate. Early voting starts next Saturday.
