Welcome back. Just in time for Good Day Cooks.
We have Zachary Rodriguez with us this morning.
You are launching a cookbook, Taco Party.
I love a party, but I love a party that includes tacos.
Oh, yes. So let's taco about it. Thank you.
Yeah. I'm very excited about this.
This is my second Mexican cookbook called Taco Party.
It comes out November 10th.
It's just 60 plus recipes, tons of different tacos,
fusion tacos, breakfast tacos, kind of your traditional stuff.
then I have a section for a variety of salsas
and then by popular demand a
cocktail section so yeah I mean if we want
to get started I mean one of the
things that I want to cook today
is a salsa fresca super simple to make I love
this on breakfast tacos
but it goes very good with chips and salsa as well and
the first thing we're gonna
do is we're gonna start by chopping a few Roma
with tomatoes just half them makes it
a little bit easier in the blender okay I
tried to make salsa once it
was a disaster I'm not a I'm not a good well
then you need the book there you go there's
your opportunity it was gonna go
to get the book to how can they go about doing
that Oh amazon.com or Barnes and
Noble maybe some local stores they'll carry the book
but yeah if you just
search taco party on Amazon it'll pull
right up, I've already looked, all right I
love it, love it, um we're just gonna go in with a quarter
of a white onion, clove of garlic and now
you can make this as spicy
or as mild as you want, I love some spice, don't kill me please, perfect
and we're gonna go in with just a jalapeno diced up
a little bit, okay, maybe some cilantro and then
a pinch of salt would be amazing if I remembered it
but you know what, all right, we have salt all
good, I don't know, pretend we have salt, yeah okay
and then going into the
blender and you can make this as chunky
as smooth as you love it if you want to
go ahead and just give it a couple
of pulses in there, wait what do I do just
press it down, sometimes it
gets a little perfect, okay
yummy, now I already have a
salsa pre-made, so if you guys just want to go ahead
and give that a try
So then you can talk about the drinks that you have
Okay.
Tell us about the cocktails
Yes
Now, the cocktail that I'm going to make is called El Carajillo
Now this is just a Mexican version of an espresso martini.
I love it because it's tequila, liquor 43.
Traditionally it's just liquor 43 and some espresso
but being a Mexican recipe, I love
adding some tequila to that
So we're going to go in with an ounce and a half of espresso
some reposado tequila,
and then some liquor 43
And then what we're going to do
go in with a little bit of ice, and what goes amazing
with coffee is some orange.
So I got a little orange peel here,
and we're just going to get a little bit of the oils
kind of loosened up, placed in there,
go on with the liquor, big iced shake, and then
to get the foam going, it's all about the dry shake.
So if you like an espresso martini,
you know you need to have that foam on the top.
So we're just going to strain this into a dry shaker.
Yeah, it's foaming.
It's foaming.
It really is.
These chips are delicious, too.
I know, they are really good.
The foam is so good, too.
All right, now, if you guys want to put that on tight,
you want to give it a very hard shake,
vigorously as possible.
There you go, I love it.
Oh boy.
You got it?
Yeah, and you wanna do that
about 10, 15 seconds would be perfect.
We already got a glass of ice ready to go.
Oh, I think that should be great, thank you so much.
Hopefully less of a fail than your blender attempt.
Let's see if we get the foam here.
Thank you.
Beautiful, absolutely beautiful.
And then to finish that off,
we're just gonna give it a nice little dusting of cinnamon.
And then since this is a morning show,
I mean, it's perfect for the morning.
You get that coffee, that nice little kick.
You know, I don't drink it in the morning, but absolutely beautiful.
Okay, so people can pick up this book,
do these recipes that we just did right here.
What did you say, November?
November 10th.
That's exciting.
And then it says the tacos that made you go viral.
You've got to put in your tag, right?
Yeah, tell us.
Instagram, Facebook?
My Instagram, Zrod94.
You know, I just love cooking Mexican food.
And I kind of started with a steak taco recipe, and it just blew up.
And I'm like, oh, wow, I'm on to something.
And then just love learning about Mexican food.
My fiance is from Jalisco, Texas,
so I get a lot of tips and tricks from her as well.
So a shout out to Selena.
I love you.
But yeah, I mean, Mexican food is what I love to cook.
You're very good at it.
I was going to ask you, where is this background coming from?
But it sounds like she's helping you out.
Yeah, so a little bit on her part.
I actually started this before I met her.
But my last name is Rodriguez.
I do have some Mexican heritage.
I didn't grow up with a lot of traditional Mexican food,
but it's just one of my favorites.
Love to kind of go back to the roots
and kind of learn how my ancestors and everybody developed the food.
Well, Zach, it's delicious.
I can imagine that there's more recipes
in here that are delicious as well.
So thank you so much for coming on.
Anything else before we let you go?
No, just November 10th.
Amazon, Barnes & Noble.
Check me out on Instagram, ZRod94,
tons of great recipes, traditional recipes, fusion
tacos, breakfast tacos, all the good stuff.
Yeah, this is good on chips, but it would
be really good in a breakfast taco.
It's just good, period.
It already slaps.
This is my love language.
Chips and salsa.
I love it.
Can't go wrong.
It's so good.
Okay, Zach, thank you so much for coming on this morning.
Make sure you stay with us because Adelie
will give us a little recap on the weather
and we'll have some music for you when we come back.
