The Halloween season is getting
a little more cinematic at Side Hustle Lounge.
The Detroit restaurant is turning
into a haunted house of film this October.
And Lisa Walters is here to tell us what guests can expect.
Welcome.
Welcome.
Thank you so much for having us.
Absolutely.
So tell us about this transition for the Halloween season.
Haunted house of film.
What will that look like?
Got it.
So as you walk in on a red carpet,
Oh, we have a skeleton that's sitting in a director's chair.
So he's directing you to come in.
Okay.
And then we have little snippets of things like from the Psycho movie,
Exorcist, Friday the 13th.
Oh, wow.
I'm getting chills.
Yeah, you go down our hallway to the bathroom
and we have the twins from...
Oh, no.
Are things jumping out at you when you're...
Okay, good.
No, we're not doing that.
We don't want super scary.
Okay, good.
You know, just a little element of surprise.
Very nice.
I love what you're doing.
You also have some fun things you're adding
to the menu for the season, too.
We did, and you have a few in front of you.
Some of them are our drinks, Jamie's been waiting
Are we diving right in? She's, she just, she said it
Yes, yes, yes, okay, well you gotta get a shot
of her, this uh cutie here, that's our Monsters Inc. drink
Love the movie by the way, right? Okay, you have
a bloody margarita, Laurie, and tell us about the
eyeballs, she's gonna eat these, they're gummy eyeballs
so you definitely, they're gummy, so I
will partake, let me take a sip of the Monsters Inc., go right ahead
and yay, but everyone wants to see
Of course, if you want to see me eat the eyeballs.
The eyeballs.
Okay.
More Jamie than me.
She just really insisted, so I just felt like I had to.
There you go.
Thank you, Jamie.
Yummy eyeballs, by the way.
Ooh, delicious.
Okay, beautiful.
See?
They're really good.
How did you know?
So what are you making for us this morning?
Well, we have our truffle bumblebee,
and you have one in front of you, you know, a finished product.
There you go.
Beautiful.
Pretty easy to make.
It's the ricotta.
Okay.
So it's got some garlic, salt, pepper.
It's already whipped in there.
We add a little bit of beeswax.
oh wow okay toward the end of it
and some of our staff has fun with it when we start
whoa there we go that really is yep the beeswax where
do you get the beeswax from you can get it
from a lot of purveyors i know whole foods is one okay
for example our staff loves to have fun with
the figs we add figs to it as well some put it toward
the end to make it like a stinger
coming out of there.
Stupid bumble.
Sorry.
Bumble butts.
Yes, there you go, a bumble butt.
And then we do a little bit of bee pollen.
So this is bee pollen.
Bee pollen?
Yep, sprinkle bee pollen on it.
A little bit of truffle honey.
Wow, that's a lot.
It is, but it's that salty, sweet,
you know, a little bit of savory going on there.
Yes.
We finish it off with a little bit of parsley.
And then you add your wings.
How did you come up with this idea here?
You know, Bruno DeFabio helped us get our menu going,
and this has stayed since we opened.
Nice.
It's been one of our favorite bestsellers for sure.
You know, when we tease to this segment before the break,
I'm like a truffle bumblebee.
What is that?
We'll find out what it is.
Yeah, there you are.
And then it literally looks like a bumblebee.
It looks like a bumblebee.
You got it.
Very nice.
And it's very yummy, too.
Yeah, I do enjoy.
And again, that's been with us since we opened.
That's a staple for sure.

as well what you're known for right oh yeah

known for we did bring an additional drink this one

Black, yeah.
What's in there?
Good question, ladies.
It looks a little scary.
Oh, okay.
Tell us what it is.
Oh, gin, blue curacao.
That's what it is.
A little bit of lemon and cranberry.
Oh, wow.
That sounds interesting, actually.
I know.
I love how spooky it looks.
It does look spooky.
And the name, Hocus Pocus, another great movie.
You bet.
Would you try your spooky drink?
Thank you, Jamie.
Why, I think I shall.
You want an eyeball to go with it?
No, no, no.
I want you to have the eyeballs.
They're really good.
You keep their vision.
See what I did there, right?
Very good.
Wow. Okay. Strong. It's strong and a little saltiness around it.
Wow. Okay. Who came up
with the drink ideas? Do you brainstorm to get
your creative juices going for the people?
Our bartenders. You got to just keep going then.
So you're like, well, do we get it? Let's try
again. Yep. We did have a few,
we have a few other drinks too. The trick or treat teeny. Oh,
that's got some Bailey's. It's a martini with a little, I like that.
The Reese's pieces around
the edge of it. Ooh, that, see, that sounds like our type of drink.
Although the, uh, the little
eyeball one wasn't bad. All right, Jane.
We'll post some information on our website. Make it
Fox 2 Detroit.com. Thank you so much for coming.
