All right, we can't talk about how the Milwaukee Brewers got here
without a dive into the team's past, and we're going way back to 1957
when the Milwaukee Braves won the World Series.
Waukesha County reporter Brett Lemoine is live in Elm Grove
with a man who was there for some of the biggest games that season.
Yeah, he's got a lot of memories to share.
When he was just 15 years old, Terry Sheehan was hired to be
the visiting team's bat boy at County Stadium
and he has been sharing tons and tons of pictures
and memorabilia with us. Take a look
at this because I think a lot of baseball fans will have
eyes all on this. The highlight, of course,
this signed bat from the World Series winners that he
keeps under glass. Sheehan has loved baseball his entire life,
but he says the memories from
the dugout really are priceless.
He remembers every score, every play, and every player who
came through County Stadium that season
and beyond he compares Jackson Chourio for example to Hank
Aaron and he says this team right now is golden he'll
be rooting for another World Series win but
before that we asked him how the game is different
from when he was a kid it's hard to make comparisons
but i'll do the best i can today they're so much bigger
so much stronger they throw so much harder
They make so much money.
Teams are not together anymore.
Milwaukee used to keep their players unless they were traded.
And Milwaukee made some wonderful trades.
But it's just a different game today.
Now, Ben and Ashley,
Bat Boy may not have been a lucrative job back in 1957
because he had made $2.50 a day.
Now, obviously, that doesn't seem like a lot by today's standards.
But then take a listen to this. He says his father had season tickets,
and back in 1953, box seats at County Stadium, $3.50.
Not bad, considering what they're going for today for the World Series.
Reporting live in Elm Grove, Brett Lemoine, Fox 6 News.
Sounds like a great deal. Thanks, Brett.
