'Thank God everybody's safe.' Late-night fire destroys Darien business, heavily damages several others

Alright guys, you can see they put up this fencing behind me. There's a salon next door and a tutoring center. Those businesses also sustained heavy smoke and water damage, and they're going to need some serious repairs before they can open again. Now, fire officials tell me the fire broke out just after midnight, but more than 12 hours later, you can still smell some of the aftermath, the smoke and the haze. I'm told there were no injuries. The Darien Fire Marshal says no one was in the building at the time of the fire. But still, so devastating for these businesses. Repair crews were on the scene Friday afternoon. I actually spoke with the owners of the salon right next door, they're brothers. They've run the place for a few years. They say they're being given a time frame of anywhere between three months to a year on when they might be back up and running, and they're trying to stay positive. For good. For good. To restore. They got everybody safe, you know, but you got to move on. Life is like that. You don't know what could happen tomorrow. You know you got to deal with it and again the cause of the fire is still under Investigation, but we'll stay on top of this story and we'll give you any updates as we get them.
