An all-purpose tomato sauce that doesn't taste like butt.
What you need:
2 28 oz cans whole tomatoes
1 6 oz. jar tomato paste
2 TBL olive oil
1 small onion, minced
4 cloves garlic, minced
1 tsp salt
1 tsp red pepper flake
2 tsp dried basil
2 tsp dried oregano
1 cup white wine
1/2 TBL brown sugar
Tomato sauce that you buy in the store tastes like butt. Here’s an easy tomato sauce for all your tomato sauce needs.
Now in this recipe, I cut down the garlic cloves with a razorblade. You like in that movie. The one with the goodfellas. I think it was called Godfather Part III.
Now your canned tomatoes, you’re going to want to strain them so your whole tomatoes and the juice they’re packed in are separated because we’re only going to use about half of the juice.
In your largest pot, add your olive oil, your onions, and your salt and cook on medium until lightly golden about ten minutes. Then add your red pepper flake, your dried herbs and your garlic cloves. Cook a few minutes, stirring often and then add your entire can of tomato paste. Mash it down with your spoon and fry it along with all your veggies.
After about five minutes, add your strained tomatoes, and mash those in too. And your white wine, half of the reserved tomato juice and your sugar. Bring the sauce to a boil and give it a good stir. Then cover it.
Cook on low for about half an hour. Now it’s ready to use. I bottle it in a big mason jar and keep it in the fridge for pasta, pizza or for use in countless recipes.
