It's time for football face-off.
So first, we are at Abraham Lincoln High School with Bob Kelly.
Hey, gang, good morning.
We are live from Northeast Philadelphia, Lincoln High.
And we got the football
This week,
Bob is doing double duty
since Jim Fred is off.
He's going to two schools in Northeast Philadelphia
that are facing off this afternoon.
So first up, here we go, Lincoln High School.
Hey,
gang,
we are
looking
forward
to a
great
competitive
game.
man, go out there and get a win
That's the goal.
So we're 4-3 here, those guys have a little lesser record,
but we're ready to go!
clock today at the President's Cup, where all
of our fall sports will face off with each other.
Varsity football, boys soccer, girls soccer, tennis,
volleyball, and of course our cheerleaders will end it.
A really cool way to really keep the rivalry going in the neighborhood.
That's cool, so the entire school sports group...
Yeah, we all take the bus over.
Yep.
I said that for about 15 minutes up the boulevard.
That's it.
That's it.
And then, you said it happened reverse last year.
The next year we'll host, it'll be our homecoming next year,
but this year we're here to crash the party.
We'll see if he makes it to the next spot.
He's like, get back over there.
Okay, let's get back to football face-off.
You know, Bob is doing double duty this Friday,
so now he's at George Washington High School.
This is what it's all about,
President's Cup for the President's Cup.
All the sports teams are going to play each other here today.
Hold on to the cup.
You can't do it without the cheerleaders.
come on we're going
to keep practicing we're coming
right back and bob has made his way
across the northeast
to George Washington High School, hi Bob, hey gang, good morning everybody
hello George Washington
eagles, home of the eagles
and the soccer team is
undefeated football coming
look out there we're going to come on over to see
the principal, how you doing? I'm great, I love this
I haven't been here I guess in about a year
so tell us about George Washington High School
Michelle, how are you?
I'm great. So we're all set
for homecoming.
Our students
are playing today.
It's like the President's Cup
and tell me
over here, tell me about the President's Cup
and how this is gonna work today.
So last year Ed McGettigan
and I from Lincoln started the President's Cup for
Abraham Lincoln and George Washington.
Last year Washington took the Cup 3-2.
We're gonna have five sports playing today.
Girls soccer, boys soccer, football,
girls tennis and girls volleyball.
I love it because I was just up the road at
Lincoln so all their sports players are coming here
and next year we'll do the
reverse. Yep last year was at Lincoln
we're gonna alternate every year. Of
course the big game is at 3 o'clock.
Come on are you ready football team? They're ready yeah
we're excited for the matchup it's two
of the top teams in the top division
great Northeast rivalry up here
for these two high schools. I grew up in the
Northeast. I know what it's like to rivalry
from neighborhoods to neighborhoods. What do you think
is the key to winning today? I mean, it's our discipline.
You know, like if we just don't make
our mistakes, I believe in our guys.
I believe in our preparation. And so it's really just these
guys playing hard and disciplined all game.
Well, if I can give you a tip, the Lincoln players
haven't played on grass all season.
They're playing on turf. You're a grass field here.
What do you think that adds to this? Yeah,
you know, like it's all about protecting our home
turf. We know how to play on our field.
We know how to really like, you know, play some smash
mouth football in the rain. And so I'm excited for it.
All right. Lincoln versus Washington.
Three o'clock. Homecoming game. We'll see you in Northeast Philly.
Come on. President's Cup. That's a great idea. A good rivalry.
