It is 1235 and we do have the breaking news out of Orange County.
There is that Norte fire that is burning in the city of San Clemente
and it is up to 50 acres.
We have this now. New information
from the Orange County Fire Authority that is there on scene.
Let's take a look at what they're saying.
They do say that structures are threatened.
Crews, they say, are aggressively attacking
the fire from the ground and air.
Please continue to avoid the area. That is the word to the public.
But you're seeing if you're looking at your screen right now,
you're seeing some of those aerial shots provided
by the Orange County Fire Authority and also some ground shots
from the Orange County Fire Authority as well.
So you see the ridge there. Obviously,
they are under the same conditions we are here in the Los Angeles area.
And that is those red flag conditions,
extreme temperatures with very low humidity and those Santa Ana winds.
That is just a recipe for what we're seeing here.
And so when you hear structures are threatened,
no word yet on specific evacuations.
But those could be coming as soon as we get word.
We will obviously bring that to you when we can.
And in fact, we are working to get somebody
from Orange County Fire Authority on the line.
And so as soon as that happens, we will absolutely bring that to you.
And just let me just cruise along with Sky Fox.
This is just below the helicopter as it is on its way.
Stu Mandel is there with his pilot
and they are headed to this brush fire in San Clemente.
at least 50 acres this is according to the Orange County Fire Authority
and structures are actively
threatened we hate to have to hear
that and it looks like now that the camera is turned
toward the smoke you see all of that smoke from all these miles away
so as soon as we are able to
and if you are threatened if you are in that area
and you want to give us a call please do call the
Fox 11 newsroom. And we will we'd love to be able
to hear your perspective as we work to get more
information for you here at Fox 11 and Fox Local Los Angeles.
And it looks like let me just pull
up that information one more time in case you missed it.
This is just in from the Orange County
Fire Authority. They are such a great resource on social
while they're doing what they can on
the ground and in the air.
They are actively updating the press and also the public. And
they do say that those crews are aggressively attacking
the fire from the ground and air.
Obviously, the air resources are going to be vital
because of those winds. And in fact,
I should be able to pull up some of those current winds.
In fact, we do have this. Let me just pull
up these current winds and see if we can't learn anything
from this is currently right here at the
bottom of the hour. I'm looking there.
And even in Santa Ana, 20 mile per hour winds. Obviously,
this does not mention San Clemente,
but you get the idea that there are those winds that
these are sustained winds.
So those gusts can be even stronger. Just keep that in mind.
Obviously, Sandburg is a hotspot right now up
to the north. But nonetheless,
it is those gusty conditions. They do remain on this Friday.
And this was expected. This was
part of the forecast. And we hate to have to see this.
And of course, let me get.
