Welcome to TMZ Live. Halle Berry is in a tough spot right now
because it looks like from all outward appearances that she
is going to come face to face with her son in a courtroom where
her son is on the stand testifying against her.
This is every parent's worst nightmare in a custody battle,
which is what seems to be happening here between Halle Berry
and Olivier Martinez and their 13-year-old son,
Maceo, caught in the middle.
You know, of course, about the, according to Olivier,
he says that Halle put Maceo in a MMA chokehold when they
were fighting about him playing with this virtual reality game.
She says that's not what happened. It was horseplay. And that's
a picture that she took from the bathroom of Maceo with the headset on.
He, according to his father,
Olivier Martinez, he said, I want to leave.
He left, and Olivier filed papers essentially saying, I want custody,
she's not fit, I want her to undergo sobriety testing, so it's war.
And he wants a restraining order keeping her away.
So now the judge has approved Maceo to actually take the stand
and testify about what did
or did not happen during that situation with his mother.
We should explain that judges in family court have discretion,
that if you have a five-year-old, probably not going to testify
in terms of what their preferences are, what they saw.
They need to understand the difference between truth and a lie.
When you're 13, which Maceo is, that's old enough,
and judges will allow them to talk,
to testify, to express custodial preferences,
and I think that's what's going to happen here.
It seems that's what's going to happen here.
And Charles, you said at the top, this is a parent's worst nightmare.
It's also really a reflection of a horrible parental relationship
that the kid is being put in the middle
of this in the truest sense of the word.
It sounds like the kid wants to testify.
The kid wants to do, but the fact
that it's gotten to this point is so sad.
Obviously,
we don't know what all the things that happened in this relationship.
It is so awful that they've gotten to the point
that the kid has to be sort of the testifying
tiebreaker for this whole thing.
So when they requested to get him permission to actually testify,
In those documents, Olivier said that that Maceo wanted
to do this because he's afraid that everyone's just going to believe
his mother because she's a celebrity and he wants to speak
in his own words so that people will, you know, believe him.
Because Olivier has always said that his version of it,
Olivier's version, is Maceo's version because Olivier wasn't there.
So we'll see.
I mean, it would seem that it's Maceo's version
because of just the way this all went down.
But what's interesting is Olivier is asking to change custody,
that he wants sole custody, primary custody of the child.
And that's probably going to be something that the judge
is going to ask Maceo, that where do you want to live?
But that's the way these things work because right now the judge has
to decide, do I keep it the way it is or do I change it?
And Maceo, his opinion is going to carry weight with the judge.
Somebody that age, that carries weight.
So what he wants, he will be heard in court.
That doesn't mean automatically that the judge will give what he wants,
but the judge will absolutely give it weight.
It also means that Maceo is going to be subject to cross-examination.
He's going to get up and tell a story.
Hallie's lawyer is going to have a chance
to ask him questions about Olivier's influence over him.
Ever so gently.
Ever so gently, but you're still subjecting your kid to it.
It's an awful thing.
The judge did say there are very specific parameters.
He can only speak about the incident at play here.
Not the relationship at large.
The judge may ask his opinion about custody.
Now, the other thing that I'm wondering
is that Hallie has another child by another father, Nalia.
Nalia, I believe, is 17.
Nalia.
And she's 17.
She's in college now.
She may be older.
Yeah.
But Nalia has already expressed her view
of some of what is being alleged here.
Right, and it's supported Hallie.
Specifically about the claim that Hallie said
to Maceo back when he was nine.
Something racial.
Something racial about your dad being white
and taking money from a black woman.
So I wonder if Nalia is going to end up in court testifying for Hallie.
And I would not rule that out.
I think it's pretty likely.
Our chat is asking, well, first off,
saying that I think what Hallie did is very odd,
but this is just heartbreaking as a mother.
Then they're asking, so do you guys think there's any possibility
of reconciliation after this?
You know, sometimes it has to become
so bad that all of a sudden it opens their eyes.
It's like, boy, this is damaging the child.
Reconciliation between Hallie and Olivier or Hallie and her son?
Hallie and her son, I'd assume.
Hallie and her son.
I think that's correct.
These 13-year-olds change.
She changes.
They grow and mature.
Yeah. There could even be a reconciliation
in terms of just peace between Olivier and Hallie.
If it all of a sudden they open their eyes and they look
and they realize this is really damaging the children.
Yeah. Or the child in this case.
So to be continued, the hearing is when?
I don't know if they set a date yet.
I don't think I don't know if they set a date.
But man, this is rough. Hi, I'm Queen. I'm from St. Louis.
this is a really heartbreaking story I hate
to say this but I actually think it would be in
Halle Berry's best interest to just give Olivier full custody I feel
as though it's a really really
traumatizing process for Maceo especially
to have to like go through the court system
have to testify have to feel like he would have
to choose between one parent or another and then
also Olivier and Halle's past history
with their divorce they've always had like a tumultuous
um, situation. And I just feel as though she should just surrender
and just take it as a
loss and they could fix it outside of the court system.
Well, one of the things Hallie has insisted
is that she feels she, what they disagree at Olivier and Hallie,
they disagree on how to treat,
um, Maceo's, uh, neurodivergent issues. Right.
Um, uh, one other point, um, I would bet money
that lawyers, certainly on Hallie's side, and I believe both sides,
are probably trying to hash out a settlement before they go to court.
So that he doesn't have to sit on the stand.
There is a war in the Cornell gang rape case,
a war over information being leaked.
And Jane Doe's lawyer is pointing fingers
at certain people in the media who he believes are leaking information.
and he does not want to be at a disadvantage
in the public relations war so he's gone to court
saying you cannot if you're going to put a gag order on me it's unfair
because the defendants
have sort all sorts of um uh proxies in the media
who are i don't even know he was saying he wasn't
saying that he was also leaking he
was saying i'm not leaking they're leaking and they're leaking
to TMZ right and so blaming yes he's blaming lawyers
for the defendants um for leaking
information not just to us
but yes we're called they did we are called out many times and they
are calling out a specific lawyer Mark Garagos Mark Garagos
is a criminal defense lawyer um and
as you see there he is my co-host
on the Two Angry Men podcast Mark Garagos has a daughter by the
name of Tenney. And Tenney works for the law firm
and is representing one of the Cornell
Seven. So what Thomas Jufra is saying is that he
believes Mark Garagos is somehow getting
information from Tenney Garagos and then leaking it to us.
So this has just set off a firestorm.
Um, and one of the other, first of all,
Tenny Garagos issued a statement saying BS.
Um, and, uh, another lawyer in the case, uh,
was calling this utterly hypocritical because
Thomas Jufra was everywhere on television at the beginning.
And by the way, was talking to us almost on a daily basis.
Yeah.
Thomas is trying to push against this and saying,
I've been in a reactive posture.
I filed this lawsuit on behalf of Jane Doe, and then
this media firestorm and the defense, the Cornell frat boys trying
to control the narrative had forced me to be reactive.
But something is hollow about that.
That's just not true because none of the frat boys' lawyers
spoke before that Thomas Jufra made appearances on CNN,
on, you know, talking to numerous outlets.
He was on CNN almost every night.
I'm not leaking this stuff.
I've told media information about the swatting
and the threats we've gotten in the wake of all this,
but I'm not giving the Title IX documents and so forth.
That's what he's insisting in these documents.
And he's saying Mark Garagos remembered
the Diddy case and Tenny Garagos
because he was carrying the defense's water in those cases,
and the judge pointed it out, and we remember that whole firestorm.
The part that doesn't make sense is him saying the claim that you
or Mark on your podcast,
Two Angry Men, are carrying water.
Bill, where did you get your podcast?
It's not a plug.
That he's saying that you're carrying the water for the defense.
If anyone has listened to your podcast the last few weeks,
what you've done is presented both sides.
You've presented Jane Doe's side.
You've presented the argument
that Thomas Jaffer would probably make in court.
And then you've presented the side that the defense is.
You've also shown the text messages in context, in full.
We've done that on the website where, you know,
if something leaked that was pro-Jane Doe, we posted it.
And if something leaked that favored the defendants, we posted it.
We're trying to show both sides.
I'm going to make a disclosure here,
and I'm not under oath, but I'll simply say it.
The idea that Mark Garagos gave us information is BS
because Mark Garagos doesn't give us crap.
I will say, I do hear you frequently on the phone going,
Mark, wait, I got to talk to you.
And then he hangs up.
But you know what he says?
Call you back in five minutes and hangs up.
Does that call ever come?
Never.
Never. I mean, that's the funny thing about this.
I mean, I have friends who are in this
world, you know, big world of, you know,
lawyers and others and the people who I'm closest to
who are in that world give me absolutely nothing. I'm serious.
Our chat has a question saying that I know that,
or our chat said, I may be wrong,
but I know people are saying these things
were leaked, but wouldn't they be exposed
anyways during a trial? Why are people getting so uptight over it?
They're worried of pre-trial publicity polluting a possible jury.
That's right.
They want to control that narrative.
So, and also, there is a PR war going on, too.
There is a PR war going on.
Absolutely.
That's why Thomas Jaffer has been on so many places doing interviews.
Right.
I'm attorney Alexis Garuz.
I am a criminal defense attorney based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Did you give me any information?
No, unfortunately.
I can't take responsibility for that.
Okay, keep going.
Yeah, I mean, you can't have your cake and eat it too, right?
I mean, this has clearly been something from the beginning.
I think Jane Doe's lawyer has been on quite the media circuit.
And so to not expect the other attorneys
to do that on behalf of their client makes no sense to me,
particularly because, to your point, let's be real,
this is being tried in the court of public opinion before
it even makes it to the courthouse in many, many ways.
Yeah, well, that's pretty much standard
operating procedure for any case.
Can I just say, are you in your office?
I am.
Okay.
I just want to make a comment.
It's unrelated, but I got to say it.
Oh, boy.
I love it.
You love the green chair?
No, it's turquoise to me.
And it's bold, and I like it.
I really do.
Well, thank you.
Am I right that that's turquoise?
He says it's green.
It's more of like an emerald green,
but it's maybe something in between.
Yeah.
No, no.
Don't.
You don't have to bow to him and say, oh, maybe it's in between.
No, it's green.
That's a lawyer answer, by the way.
That's a very lawyer-y answer, Alexis.
Coming up, our TMZ DC guys did yeoman's work last night
at a gas station in Michigan.
A little bit of heat there, too.
I like it.
I was going to say, look, red hot cheese.
Be right back.
Our TMZ DC guys did yeoman's work last night
at a gas station in Michigan.
At a gas station in Michigan.
of all places yes because they were with one
of the senatorial candidates that is being most
watched leading up to election day
a gatorade uh spokesperson a gatorade toting possible
senator uh abdul el sayed uh
who is running for senator in michigan um against mike rogers so
they're in the convenience store
and he is walking around singing the praises of gatorade and these
Red Hot Cheese Popcorn.
So he's buying it, he's explaining it,
and then he decides with Jacob and Charlie
that they're going to chow down
and especially listen to Jacob.
This is hilarious.
How are y'all?
Dude, I'm about to be...
I hate what I'm about to do right now.
What? You're not...
Oh, because he's...
Gluten-free.
Gluten-free.
You're gluten-free?
He's going to have a big...
What are these?
Wait a second, wait a second, wait a second, wait a second.
Is it...
So lame.
You're going to make them have all these truffles.
There's really no reason this should have gluten in it.
All right, then I'll go.
All right, then if I...
I'll see you.
All right.
Thank you.
All right.
Cheers.
Cheers.
All right, very good.
Yeah?
There's a bit of heat there, too.
I like it.
I was going to say, look, red hot cheese.
Down.
But it's not actually that hot, bro.
It's not that hot.
I don't do heat.
Clearly.
I know.
I'm sorry, Matt.
I didn't mean to do this.
No, no.
All right, you want some Gatorade?
You got some?
You want some Gatorade?
I have a bunch in the car.
You want some Gatorade?
He needs it here.
No, no, no, no, no.
Get this man a Gatorade Zero here.
All right.
Thank you.
It's an emergency.
You're fountaining your water?
Out of respect.
Oh, you're out of respect.
Out of respect.
Oh, water fountain me?
Enjoy.
Enjoy.
That was good.
We're all doing that since we're passing it around here.
I was watching this morning, and I'm just thinking,
this is one of the most entertaining things I've seen.
To hear Jacob, I loved it.
I'll say it looks at Jake, and he's like, it's not even that hot.
Meanwhile, Jacob's dying.
Dying, dying, and worrying about gluten-free.
They did actually, they had some fun there,
but they did talk about issues.
Now, this is so interesting, and you're going to hear Jacob's question,
and there's something kind of funny about it,
but i think the answer that he gives
is absolutely fascinating we've been here now for a few hours
we went to Kalamazoo
and we pulled one person first person we met i said Sayed or Rogers they
said the thing about Sayed is i don't think he's going
to be as progressive as he says he's going
to be i said what do you mean they said well due
to his religious beliefs i don't think he's going
to be as progressive as he says what do you think about
that hearing that from 100% of the people
that we pull look i'll tell you this um it
is because of my religious beliefs that i need in
America where we believe in and protect
the constitution at all costs i i don't want the
federal government and certainly
not the crazies like Ted Cruz using the federal government to tell
us what we can do with our lives. You live your way.
I live my way. He lives his way, right? That's
the beauty of this country.
I choose to put my face on the ground 34 times a day. That's a choice
that I make and I love the right to make,
which means that why would I ever allow this government
to take that right away from me?
Just like I would never allow the government to take away the right
for somebody to love who they love, to be who they are,
you know, to make choices and live their life
as they are we all need a good job
and not to be told that we can't have a job because of
the color of our skin how we pray
who we love how we identify we all need a home we all need
health care we all need to breathe clean air
and drink clean water like those are the things that
all of us need doesn't matter
who you are doesn't matter where you live you need those things i'm
trying to focus on a government that stops discriminating against us
and provides those
basic things so we can all participate i just think
that is fascinating the answer because i
I thought the question and the answer.
The question was really good, and the answer was really interesting.
But I got to say, too, that, you know, this goes on and on.
And you can go to TMZ.com.
You can watch the whole interview.
It was a good almost 10 minutes that they
were standing there interacting.
And we asked a bunch of questions.
We asked about, you know, Donald Trump calling him Muhammad and how
he said that Donald Trump doesn't realize he's giving him praise.
Praise, right.
And he had a lot to say about a lot.
and it's just i don't know what it is by the way
but when you get people off the stump at a thing
it's just more interesting were they on their way
to another city where he's obviously campaigning
where they just no they just happened to stop in the same place
or did they they they ended up at
this gas station that he ended up at but they
were going somewhere else they'd come from kalamazoo
Yeah. But I just found this really. And look, I personally,
you know, I disagree with him on some issues strongly.
Right. But when you listen to him, he is a smart, very likable guy.
I think this particular race between him and Mike Rogers,
I think is going to be really, really interesting just
to see where it's not the nation, it's Michigan.
Yeah, honestly, I think Republicans and the people on the right should
be worried about him because he is such a talented politician.
He he can explain his ideas in a way that people can understand.
There's something attractive about him.
And I personally feel like he's got some dangerous ideas.
I think there are there are a lot of questions about him.
And I think that makes him a very scary person for people on the right.
On the right. Yeah. Yeah.
And look, there are two things, three things going on.
The right, the center, and the left.
And, you know, people in the center agree with him on a lot
and disagree with him on some.
And people on the left tend to agree on a lot.
Yeah, I'm very troubled about some of the things he has said
or not said about October 7th.
I've got questions about his past,
I mean, about his beliefs in general.
But, I mean, he's resonating with voters.
Look at the polls.
Very, very effective, Charles.
Cannot deny that.
Shimon, I think Muhammad is pandering.
And he has gotten much better at pandering.
I think that Muhammad is pandering even by grabbing the hot,
spicy chips, comparing himself to Obama.
He's pandering, guys. This isn't the real him.
This is this is so that anybody that knows history can look
at what his ancestors did in Egypt.
and this isn't about us um this is more about us protecting
the first amendment and making sure
that our descendants will always have the first amendment
and it won't become sharia law so let's
not get that confused i think a lot of people are getting that confused
and they're like hey you guys
aren't respecting the first amendment
no this is about us ensuring that the first amendment will
continue to be there for our descendants
and for years to come he's pandering i i know you keep
saying he's pandering and and you also calling him by not his name
but i i see that you're wearing a
detroit tigers hat i'm guessing you're from detroit
no i have family there oh i'm from florida though
there's been a lot of talk about the that the black vote
in detroit isn't gonna isn't gonna
support him so i'm just that's why i thought you were in detroit
and that's it's interesting your
perspective coming up president trump is parting ways from pete hegseth
or not i don't want to say
he's firing pete hegseth but he's
is he guilt-foiled him he's going in the other direction from pete
hegseth as far as how to handle the execution
of the fort hood shooter be right back tmz's got
every freaking thing big celebs big stories big
events donald rawlings took tmz dc on a city tour
You know what the irony of this is?
A black man takes a white person to the White House.
TXE!
President Trump is parting ways from Pete Hegseth.
Or not.
I don't want to say he's firing Pete Hegseth, but he's...
He Guilfoyled him?
He's going in the other direction from Pete Hegseth
as far as how to handle the execution of the Fort Hood shooter.
Remember a few weeks ago, Hegseth came out and said,
we're going to live stream this thing.
It's going to be great.
it's going to be a deterrent on and on well this morning
and then since then you heard the vice
president say well let's hold off i think
at that point JD Vance knew that the that the president
was going to say no go but this is so interesting
because this seems to be the bridge too far
with Hegseth and i haven't seen that yet yeah maybe
but uh this is what the president announced today
on Truth Social he said i think streaming
the execution for all to see might have been a strong
deterrent for the world to witness how America deals
with terrorists and scum like Hassan,
but many very good and well-meaning people would rather
not watch him die through streaming
or through any other visual device.
He will die as scheduled by firing squad, but this
event will not be streamed.
That said, the execution may be viewed in person by the immediate
families of the victims if they so choose.
This feels like this was a written statement
by somebody other than Donald Trump.
because they're not his.
But he definitely approved of that.
Oh, no, he approved it.
Which is shocking because I actually personally thought
that he would be for this streaming event.
I did, too.
So it's kind of shocking.
But I think what happened is a lot of people went to him
and said, we are in enough trouble.
Why are, you know, especially leading up to the election,
why are you doing this?
Right.
And somebody said to him, you're going to look more reasonable.
You're going to look more measured.
And somebody got to him.
And it may help on election day
because nobody was supporting this i mean nobody nobody
was it was it disgusting it was just
honestly it's not it was disgusting again it
was never about the execution of Hassan it wasn't a
debate about that it's about live streaming
and the other thing and the other thing i want to say
is that the business about that family members
of victims can come see it that's that's always
that's always the case with a lot
of these executions that family members can come and
witness, well i was saying that this was
absolutely the right decision i don't think
showing executions like this to the masses would
do anything positive and it would be
something very hard to go back on.
I mean, we're going backwards if we're doing it.
Yes, it would be going a huge step backwards.
Horrific.
Good on Trump for saying that.
Eric from Melbourne, Florida.
I agree with that part, but I think it goes deeper than that.
I believe that he pulled the plug
because of what's going on in Iran, what's going on
in France with the free Palestine movement that's going on.
And I don't think he wanted to get everybody more upset
with that by having a public execution
and making Hassan a martyr for his people.
That's why I think he pulled it.
Because trust me, I believe Donald Trump
100% wanted to have a live stream of this.
He'd probably want to sell tickets for it.
A little pre-game with it.
Yeah, I mean, but that is a point there
that you put our service people around the world
in jeopardy if we start doing things like that.
It's like I said.
Absolutely.
Right.
No, it's absolutely true.
Coming up.
There are still so many questions
and not enough answers
as to what happened in Georgia at Six Flags over Georgia
where Hassan Kareem died in such a tragic way.
If enough force is applied,
you are able to push the restraint all the way open.
Be right back.
There are still so many questions and not enough answers
as to what happened in Georgia at Six Flags over Georgia
where Hassan Kareem died in such a tragic way
where he was riding the roller coaster,
the Goliath, and just came up out of the car
and ended up falling to his death,
actually hitting four other people on the way who were
also injured. Just an incredibly horrific story.
But everyone's been wondering what happened on
the ride. Was this a case of restraint failure
or was it operator error? The investigation
continues we have been trying to find out what happens
at that park trying to speak to uh people
who have worked there
and one of them uh has agreed to join us today his name is Bryson
Watley and he was a lead operator at the park
a couple of years ago he no longer works there
but he's joining us now to talk about operating the Goliath
which is one of the rides he actually
operated Bryson welcome to TMZ Live hi we we appreciate you coming
on Bryson yes thank you
so much for this opportunity why don't you tell us number one you know
who who does safety checks
there are they kids your age um 16 to 18 whatever it
was and what exactly do they do to ensure that
the passengers stay in there safely at the beginning
of each season we have um a i forgot
what the actual name is but we all the rides
are inspected at the beginning of each season they
the different rides have a different amount
of cycles that they have to complete before they
are allowed to operate so i think Goliath is 50 cycles
um before it is allowed to operate for the
season and then additionally every morning
um and every night maintenance goes through and does a
thorough check of everything that is going
on with the restraint all the mechanisms mechanisms of it
The panel, the lift hill, the brakes,
they go and check everything every morning and it has
to be signed off before it is even allowed to operate for that day.
And how we go by checking restraints is on the panel.
There is a it's a LED screen
and it shows rows one through nine or I think it's seven cars.
So one rows one through seven
and it shows seats one, two, three and four.
and whenever the train comes back to the station
um if it's yellow that means that the restraint
has not fully opened back up
because we are not allowed to send the train out until all restraints
are green it has to fully open back up
and then close back down after they are all red that means
they're in the up position they are required
to have at least three clicks down before to even
show green on the panel if it does not show green
on the panel the buttons will not light up and
there is no way to even dispatch the ride
with any of their restraints being up even in the
maintenance override there is physically no way
for the ride to leave the station unless all
restraints are green and at least three clicks have been given
and they and then they would only
be green if they were down far enough
or you're saying three clicks which okay she would keep
someone in there would keep someone in their seat regardless
of how loose it was they would still
stay in their seat. Correct.
And then additionally, at the bottom, by where it pivots, there is a
little yellow line. That is also a visual confirmation
as to how far down the restraint
needs to be. If it is not past that,
then it will show on the panel, hey, this restraint is not
closed far enough, so we can't let that guest ride.
So if the LED light shows that it has to
be green everywhere in order for the ride to even function if that's
so it's confusing how somebody
where it goes three clicks down
or more um could fly off that ride to their death yes so there is
this thing it's called pin slipping
so how Goliath restraints work specifically it is a pin and gear
mechanism um they do not train all of the normal employees
that work these rides specifically they
only train us on how to actually check
the restraints for that ride not how they actually
function the only reason i know how that function
is because i'm a coaster enthusiast so i already
look into all this stuff this is my habit
um but how Goliath's restraints work mechanically is it's
a pin in a gear system so as it rotates each pin locks
into the um like the little pivot on the
on the gear and per ASTM standards that's
the safety system for roller coasters and what type
of restraints they need to have based on the forces
that it has this specific ride type needs
to have two forms of redundancy that means that just a seat belt
or just one like a piston isn't
capable of securing the rider properly
so for Goliath it has two pins and two gears so it has
one pin and one gear and then beside it
also has another pin and a gear so that is its two forms
of redundancy that it uses to secure the riders properly
and then another ride Mako at SeaWorld
Orlando it is the exact same ride type it
is a B&M hyper roller coaster it has both a pin gear
mechanism as well as a hydraulic restraint
so it's two forms of redundancy and then at the at
Kings Island in Ohio, or yeah, Kings Island in Ohio,
they have a ride called Orion.
It is also a same, the same ride type from this manufacturer.
From this manufacturer it has a pin and gear system, a hydraulic,
and it has a seatbelt as well.
But the seatbelt does not deter from the fact that the pin
and gear mechanism, as well as the hydraulic, was not safe enough.
So it's just an added on form of safety on top of the already, yes.
When you saw this story, what was your first thought?
Like how, everything you just described, the car can't even, the train
won't leave the station unless everybody's restraints are down.
And there's redundancy.
Right.
So what was your thought as to how this could have possibly happened?
From my opinion, what we have is called gear slipping.
This is when we have, for the pin and gear mechanisms,
this has happened before on Great American Dream Machine
because that also uses a pin and gear mechanism, same as Batman.
It uses a pin and gear mechanism for the restraints.
What we call gear slipping is when it is in between two notches,
if enough force is applied, you can push it up another notch.
But that is why there's the three clicks
that you need for it to even show green
so that there is still two backup steps in case it does slip a notch.
It still has two more to back it up after that.
So how would it slip on those other two?
so somebody would be hurled into the air that i am not sure
because i'm just using based on the
information that i know and how
the restraints actually work maybe there was something going
on that day with maintenance that morning
because i am aware that they do have a lot of new
maintenance people working at the park this year
um but that's just a possibility because of the
pin slipping that is a possibility of what could have happened
because if enough force is applied
you are able to push the restraint all
the way open you can wow you you could actually push that
even though it's secured yes even if enough
or it's a very high amount of force that is needed
but it is very unlikely to be able to push it all
the way open okay all right wow um i gotta say
you sound like an engineer um yes with the depth
of knowledge you have there that's um i'm i'm
Kind of amazed at yeah, the way you broke this down.
We really appreciate the education.
Thank you Bryson. Thanks for us coming up
I'm good. It's so good. Thanks for coming in for a long time.
Thank you been to the mansion parties
I meant I went to a couple of parties there.
Okay. It was really fun be right back
So we've got a we've got a special guest here come on in joining us
Oh, hi.
Nice to meet you.
Bridget, how are you doing?
I'm good.
It's so good to see you.
Thanks for coming in.
I've been a fan for a long time.
Thank you.
Been to the mansion.
I went to a couple of parties there.
OK.
It was really fun.
I had a blast, too.
It was fun.
OK, so there's a movie coming out.
And this is a big deal.
A scripted movie called Playmates.
This is a huge deal.
The Playboy Mansion was the center of a lot for the country,
especially in its heyday.
And the movie is set during the time
that you were at the mansion, right?
I don't think so.
My understanding of the movie
is that it takes place in the early to mid-90s.
Okay.
So that was before our era.
So it was before your time.
And it was while Hef was married to Kimberly.
Right, right, right.
And had young kids at home.
That's my understanding of when the movie takes place.
That's right, it's Kimberly because Jessica Biel is playing Kimberly.
Loosely, right?
Like, they're not saying it's her.
They're like, oh, it's just based loosely on his wife.
So there are some people, some playmates who are criticizing it.
What's your take? Has come out.
Yeah, what's your take?
I'm excited for it.
I'm excited to hear Lorraine's story
and to see it come out on the big screen.
I'm excited that she gets to direct it.
This is Jack Nicholson's daughter.
Yes, Lorraine Nicholson, yeah.
So I'm excited for her, and I'm excited to see...
I hope it's not fictionalized too much.
I hope it's a true account of her.
Okay, let's do a pitch, okay?
If you were to do this movie,
give me your pitch of how you would present to the public.
No, I'm serious.
Come on, you're producing now.
Okay, I mean, you're on the spot, but give us a pitch.
Like, I'm doing it to tell her story in the 90s?
You're selling it to these TV moguls, or movie moguls.
You want to sell us a movie.
And here's what you're saying they did with Playboy
and what Hefner did with America.
So I'm Lorraine trying to pitch this to you?
Okay, so she was there as a young child, like early teens, I believe,
and spent a lot of time there.
so she has a really unique childhood
that centers around growing up
at the Playboy Mansion, partially.
So that is such a unique perspective.
So I would love to hear that story.
What's your perspective?
If you were selling the movie
based on when you were there,
how would you sell it?
Oh my gosh, okay.
This is a movie about,
not about Hef himself,
this is about three girls
who are truly the girl next door.
Yeah, exactly.
Right?
Yeah, make it about ourselves because I feel like,
I mean, it was Girls Next Door era.
There's a lot to talk about, a lot that happened behind the scenes.
Holly and I have a podcast that talks about all that stuff.
So I think it's a great hit.
Okay.
All right.
Okay.
Okay.
And there's a lot of nostalgia for the early 2000s.
It's true.
Could that ever come back?
I mean, honestly, if this one is a success,
there's perhaps room for another one of a different era.
I have a memoir coming out, so maybe they want to look at the next era.
and oh yeah okay give us the one nugget in this memoir
that's going to make me want to read it
oh my god i'll just say it's a roller coaster like it goes
from in my opinion it goes from
very happy and excited to like drama and chaos
and then big things happen and super excited
makes it all worth it and then more drama happens we're almost out
of time but are you are you sad
that the mansion isn't what it
was that it's i mean there's still a mansion there but it's not
Did they reopen it yet?
It's not the Playboy Mansion anymore.
It's a private residence now.
I'm sad when it comes to some of the parties.
Like, Halloween's coming up, and I wish
so bad that the Halloween party was happening.
That was the legendary party.
It was epic.
I just feel like there's nothing that's going to replace it.
There really isn't.
It's so good meeting you.
Nice to see you.
It's really, really nice meeting you.
Nice to see you again.
Nice to see you.
And maybe that movie will be made.
Yeah.
Your movie.
Starring you.
Your movie.
Yes, my movie.
Yes, both of them.
Both of them.
I want everybody's story to be told.
Coming up, Kelly Clarkson putting the bird behind her.
Moving on from the controversy that people
are endlessly fascinated with.
Kelly was not thinking about that when she got
on stage last night in Vegas.
Although, I would have expected
that she might have made some reference to it.
Just a joke somewhere.
Be right back.
Kelly Clarkson putting the bird behind her.
Moving on from the controversy that people
are endlessly fascinated with.
over what happened at this game-slash-magic shop in Brooklyn
over this mechanical bird.
Which was selling for $15,000.
Because of the publicity, it's now gone to $15 million.
And you can buy that bird.
Yeah, exactly.
Well, Kelly was not thinking about
that when she got on stage last night in Vegas.
Although, I would have expected
that she might have made some reference to it,
just a joke somewhere.
I mean, first of all, this is not murder.
And it's crazy that she missed that opportunity because it's fun.
I mean, look, this is fun.
It's fun.
Nobody got hurt.
The bird didn't die.
Right.
It's a mechanical bird.
It's a mechanical bird.
Of course the bird didn't die.
What is she supposed to do, start cawing or crowing?
I mean, how does she, like, make a reference to the bird?
She could have come out there and,
like, said something about artifice.
She could have spiked the football.
No, because if she said something, then it would have been, like,
that she's submitting that they were right.
Oh, God, no.
I mean, I feel like you just gotta move on.
She's still moving on.
Yeah, yeah.
I think she's gonna brush it under the rug.
She started this whole thing.
Art of Play obviously came out with.
She's hiding.
She didn't, she didn't
She's not hiding.
She's not hiding
Because she's fine
She was right.
Yeah.
No, she was not right.
She was absolutely right.
100% wrong
Coming up.
What movies were made at the Plaza?
Famous movies?
Famous, famous movies?
Home Alone.
Home Alone.
It's a landmark hotel in New York
North by Northwest.
That was Sleepless in Seattle.
That was it.
Oh, really?
Sleepless in Seattle.
That's the one?
Tons of movies.
It's closing down.
Be right back.
What movies were made at the Plaza?
Famous movies?
Famous, famous movies?
Home Alone.
Home Alone.
I'm missing something really big.
Eloise?
I don't remember Eloise.
No, there's big, I mean big movies at the Plaza
Help me out, guys, quick.
Big movies
Big movies at the Plaza.
I don't know.
I mean, it's a landmark hotel in New York
by Northwest. That was Sleepless in Seattle.
That was it. Oh, really? Sleepless in Seattle.
That's the one? Tons of movies. It's closing down.
For four years. It's coming back
a lot. It's coming back.
Remember Ivana Trump, when the Trumps owned it, she redecorated
it back in the day. It needs redecorating again.
Yeah, it's a spot, especially
around the holidays. People love to go in there.
Needs redecorating again. It's a huge
tourist attraction, but also there are a lot
of employees there for four years. Yeah, what?
I know.
Well, they've got to find other jobs
What's it going to look like when it comes back?
I don't know, but that's the question.
I mean, I hope they don't lose the grandeur
of it and make it all, you know.
Do you think you'll be able to go?
I don't know that I'll be around
I'll be honest with you.
Okay, hopefully we'll see you tomorrow.
