At Wickham's Fruit Farm in Cuttyhunk,
fall means apples straight from the tree.
There are 25 different types of apples
and people have been picking their own apples now
at this farm for a very long time.
We were one of the first ones to have the U-Pick wagon rides
as well as the apple cider donuts going.
So we started that back in the 80s. The rain has
definitely put a damper on us.
We're having rain on just key U-Pick days. So this weekend should
be gorgeous weather. It's going to be nice and seasonal.
If it's a little chilly, we got the
hot cider pot going on in the farm stand.
The farm has been in production for 300 years and after a
wet stretch the hope that some sunshine will bring more families out
to enjoy the harvest
and in Riverhead Holzman's farm is offering plenty
of ways to make a day of it. Daryl and Audrey
Holzman grow 20 different varieties
of pumpkins including some you may have never seen before.
You can take a cart or a wheelbarrow you can go out
to our fields our first fields are orange
pumpkins. Our next fields are specialty pumpkins like
these pumpkins you see here and you can fill
it as high as you can and it's the same price.
We don't weigh your pumpkins. As long as you can roll
it in they're all yours to take home.
And after you pick your pumpkins you can step on into the
corn maze. This year since we had a lot of rain
the corn is about 10 feet tall. There are also
hay rides, bungee, rubber duck races, which is new,
and even photo ops with straw animals. Plus your
four-legged family members are welcome too.
