Someone named Rust Belt Ryan?
Is that his name? I thought it was Barry the Builder.
But I'm pretty excited to see his entrance.
Are you talking smack already?
I'm talking smack already.
We're talking smack down, we're talking smack.
Let's do it. All right, Rust Belt Ryan, come on out.
Got a little competition going on already.
Yes, yes.
There he is, Rust Belt Ryan.
WWE superstar Drew McIntyre called me Barry the Builder.
Well, my alter ego may be retired, but for Drew McIntyre,
he is getting bigger and better than ever.
McIntyre starring in Age of Shadows, a new spy thriller.
It's the first micro drama film of the real short WWE collaboration.
Drew McIntyre joins us now.
Drew, my good friend, how are you, brother?
Barry the builder for me again.
talk to me how are you i'm doing fantastic it's
so great to see you and uh you are just continuing
uh to take entertainment to new heights talk to me about age of shadows
and how much fun this is
because this feels like something really new it
is something really new it's been a crazy six
months for Drew McIntyre i've never had this kind
of time off from wrestling in my life i finished
at Wrestlemania my last match
then i was off in Scotland filming Highlander and i was living in
Spain with Russell Crowe
filming a movie called Last Druid.
I did a Disney voiceover for
Hex and then suddenly WWE came to me and said
hey, we're partnering with RealShort
for one of these micro-dramas you might have heard of
that are a lot of fun and we want you to play
this role where you'll be the Q
to the lead character's James
Bond and a lot of people will be in there
including Michael Hayes, get a look at the script
I read the script, it was a lot of fun, a lot of
chance to show some range and
I got the chance to be on the set
and i had so much fun i don't know the fans
are gonna have fun watching it Drew talk to me about
this micro drama and RealShort as we're getting
a look right now it is in the vertical form where
you know so many people uh in social
in the social media world see this is how people watch
television and their phones and their laptops
and everything these days yeah especially the
youth of today like everybody's down here on their phone
and i'm guilty guilty of it too
And it is quick and easy to watch
the fun thing about this particular one
It has a bit of everything all of a sudden
the action you've got the WWE superstars
It's got some romance in there got a lot of comedy
We're we're able to improvise
and I improvise like crazy I'm from live TV and it's got heart as well
So it'll be a lot of fun to watch
I did see a couple on my journeys back and forth where I was like,
oh man and suddenly I was sucked into the world
There was one with an evil kid and evil evil mother
where the guy seemed like the nice dad
and the kid was like, give her the money, dad.
I was like, God, this is crazy.
And then I was sucked in and suddenly I
was watching episode after episode.
It was so easy to watch, easy to follow and hooked me right away.
But this one's the biggest budget one I believe they've ever done.
The lead character, Adam, who's played by a lad called Chase.
He's been doing this since 2019.
Tall handsome mother right there.
And he told me they've never done anything this big.
We filmed in the Hollywood Hills and the Biltmore Hotel.
I've got my own little bat cave where all my technology
is. I'm the tech guy. I'm the brains of the
operation. You know, of course, I'm sex appeal as
well. And when called upon
Oh, Ashley,
you'll enjoy this one. Barry the Builder.
I finally used my sword.
I carried the sword to the ring for years.
Never got to, you know, use it on anybody for
obvious reasons. That would have been PG and all that.
But finally I use it in Edge of Shadows.
I'm glad you didn't use it on
me. Drew,
how long are these episodes?
It's in the name real short.
They're short episodes, right?
yeah i mean i would have to double check the exact time
but i believe it's like a minute two
minutes each episode um and yeah you follow through
and it's very easy to follow very easy
to pick back up and i'm allowed i'm allowed
to talk about the fact it was filmed horizontally
as well so that'll be around in the future
so i'm excited about that but the vertical world again so
easy to watch so fun to watch for our fans there's
a lot of easter eggs in there for everybody i
think they're going to be surprised not just
from the acting elements but from the kick like sorry
from the action elements, from the acting elements
from some of the WWE superstars because they did such
a great job. Drew, final thing.
I mean, you are making
obviously a huge name
in the ring, but also
now a huge name in
Hollywood. Is it different?
Is it more fun?
I'm sure it's safer for your body,
but nonetheless, are you having
more fun with the Hollywood aspect
of it? No, no.
I'm not having more fun, but I am having a lot of
fun. It's so different and
the chance to not just push myself physically after
a match I'm beat up after a workout my
muscles are you know worn out and when you push yourself
so hard emotionally as this was a chance
to show some vulnerability you know working
with Henry Cavill as his brother in Highlander or as
Russell Crowe and I won't give away too much details
but in the last route it's called it's
coming soon I really got to push myself and test myself
and with the emotional range and afterwards
I just felt so drained, and that felt so fulfilling.
But after this cut and everyone moves on, I'm looking around like,
can somebody clap or boo or something?
It just feels weird.
Yeah, I guess there's nothing like performing in front of thousands,
tens of thousands of live fans.
Drew, the next time you're in Detroit,
I may have to come out of retirement,
and we'll have that match, that final match for Barry the Builder.
you're the best man you are the best you've got
a lot of fans in Detroit brother we'll see you
real short uh the world you got it real short
the world's uh leading micro drama platform get it
today
