If there's anyone who knows a thing or two about costumes,
it's people who work in theater.
Now, here at the Stephenville Theater Festival, they're doing
a massive clean of their costumes just in time for Halloween.
At the Stephenville Theater Festival,
we produce shows all year round, primarily in the summer.
All manner of shows,
and every show we do here requires many, many costumes.
So, they can build up after so many years.
so i think it's halloween's on the way
so we're gonna have a costume sale it feels like a trillion
of thousands i would say yeah yeah over the years it builds
so you know and every manner of actor
every size and shape every role you can imagine
there's different characters different plays we do
different musicals so yeah there's all types
of different costumes for what everybody anybody
might need you know costumes can
be pretty expensive you go to the store to buy them
But, you know, I think here you can accessorize.
I mean, everything in this room is going to be between $2 and,
well, if you want a wedding dress, that's about $25.
It's pretty cheap.
But, yeah, you can get skirts and pants
and shirts and jackets and belts and hats.
You might not have a Halloween idea for a costume
when you come in the door, but by the time you leave,
yeah, you'll have a great costume set up.
Often, if you end up way in the back of our storage,
you can kind of go a little loopy.
but it's been really nice going through
and going oh I remember we used this in this show
five or six years ago or we used this one two years ago
and just going oh this is actually a
part of history and we can't part with that.
We have 48 seasons of costumes here and as we're
leading to move up to the 50th we need to make some room
so there's some things we want to keep
but other things we just need to get rid
of so that we can keep making more costumes year after
year we have a very like crafty community there are so many people
who have come in and they went
oh i know exactly how i can repurpose
this or i can take a little bit of this and
put it with this and then bam i have
a new halloween costume we have a great community
of crafters sewers um and i don't know i think it's
a great way to get people involved we don't
have many thrift stores here we only have one
um so finding secondhand clothing is not always easy
so we're just doing a little bit of our part well
if you'd like to look as fabulous as i do or you
just like to get a glimpse into the history
of the Steubenville Theater Festival the costume
sale is happening on october 17th amy phan cbc news steubenville
