Well, the search does continue for the person responsible
for the fatal shooting of a 16-year-old
female Detroit police described as it is a drive-by shooting.
Now, the teen's older brother
was also shot, but he will survive.
The assault took place Tuesday evening on Chalmers between
Mack. Let's get live to Fox 2's Ingrid Kelly.
She joins us now live with the details. Ingrid.
Well, you know, this is such a tragedy.
And now there is a $5,000 reward for information that
leads to an arrest and can help solve this case.
Take a look at this video. Family members of
Kalia Embry want answers.
They say they have no idea why anyone would pull up near the family's
home and fire multiple shots, killing her and injuring her brother.
Members of Cease Fire
were also out canvassing the neighborhood,
working to provide resources for those impacted
by this tragedy. Situation was just crazy.
We don't, I don't know what happened. I just know
I was in the house, heard shots,
and it was so close I thought it was, I was afraid to move
because I thought it was somebody shooting at our house.
When it settled down, I got up and
looked out the bathroom window and I saw my niece laying on the ground,
and I just panicked, and I tried
to call 911, and I kept fumbling and fumbling,
and finally I got through, and that's all I can
remember seeing her on that ground
and I knew she was I knew she wasn't alive. As we the old
saying goes it takes a village law enforcement can't
do it on their own we're the intervention
to prevent it before it happens.
Back out here live Kalia's family says they're no stranger to
tragedy unfortunately Kalia has lost both parents
and she actually arrived in Detroit a few weeks
ago to attend her sister's funeral.
Take a listen. Back. She just came here
in September for her sister's funeral.
Her sister passed and we buried her on September 11th.
So she was here from Louisiana, come to her sister's funeral.
She just hadn't gone back yet.
Back out here live. The family says that her sister died in a single
car accident, unfortunately.
You know, so our condolences go to this family.
Now, if anyone has information that again can help solve this case,
contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP. Back to you, Ruth.
