It's been one week since a 28-year-old man
was shot in the Marble Hill section of the Bronx.
And now one week later, people are coming back
to the same exact spot with one clear message.
They want ICE out.
Who keeps us safe? We keep us safe!
On October 8th, Oscar Belgal was shot in the neck by ICE agents,
while his five-year-old son was in the back seat.
One week later, activists gathered at West 225th Street
on Broadway to make their voices heard.
We are New Yorkers, and to get to any of us,
they're going to have to go through all of us.
It's for Oscar, it's for every other New Yorker that's
been abducted from their homes, from their families.
Belgaal's attorney says he's being held
at the Metropolitan Detention Center, still awaiting surgery.
They say he's dealing with a loss of sensation on the left side
of his face and impaired hearing in his left ear.
Local leaders blame ICE, saying ICE has to go.
I don't want people in my community or in the Bronx or anywhere
being endangered by reckless actions of under-trained ICE agents.
Those leaders taking matters into their own hands.
Assemblyman Dinwiddie says he and other officials wrote a letter
to businesses asking them not to allow ICE to use their parking lots
and garages as staging areas,
emphasizing ICE has no place in New York.
