welcome back Fox 5 producer and writer Vernon Miles is back
also a new dad vernon how's everything
going it's going pretty good my baby's uh starting
to he stands up at the edge of the crib and waves
of people coming by which is really cute yeah
that's we're we're at the point where harper
is standing at the edge of the crib
but she likes to practice at two in the morning oh so you know
she gets a couple hours of sleep and then she wakes up
and she's like you know what i want to
run through everything i learned today for the next hour
and so you kind of look at the baby
monitor and you're like oh my goodness gracious what
is this child in a different room already uh
She's been in her own room basically
since like month six, I want to say.
Wow.
Yeah, she's very comfortable in her own room.
We had kind of eased her into that.
The one thing I'll say now, though, too, because, you know,
when we laid her down to, like, change her or,
like, change her clothes on our changing table,
I mean, it was like, I think I told you before, wrestling an alligator.
Oh, yeah.
Now with the standing, it's made it a little easier
because you can just, like,
shoot right over the head type of a thing.
It's just a matter of getting those little fingers to let go, you know?
This is Fox 5's Talking Dad.
This is a completely different show that we could have one day soon.
In the meantime, you ready to dive in?
I'm excited.
All right, let's do it.
And we're starting off.
Look, it's October.
It's fall wedding season.
A lot of people get married in October.
Both of my brothers did and my sister-in-law did.
David's Bridal just launched a new bridal line.
It's not for the bride, though.
It's not for the groom.
It's not for the bridesmaids.
And it's not for the groomsmen.
It's for your dog.
I think this is brilliant, honestly.
It's called the Puppy Love Collection.
It features wedding gowns, veils,
tuxedos for four-legged members of the wedding party,
complete with bow ties and all.
The California Post, which is the sister paper to the New York Post,
says embroidered bandanas, they'll run you just $11.
Gowns and tuxedos run in the range from $40 to $65.
But you can also order custom pet outfits inspired
by human wedding dresses.
Those will run you a little more expensive,
maybe closer to like the $300 range.
So, Vernon, the Puppy Love Collection, which you just saw some samples
of right there, do you like this or not?
I think this is really cute.
I also think it's pretty reasonably priced,
honestly, all things considered.
When you're talking about wedding prices and stuff,
$60 for a tux for your dog, I don't think that's that unreasonable.
I will say, I have a hard time imagining taking care of a pet,
like an animal like that, while you're
also doing everything else for the wedding.
We had to leave our rabbit at home.
Well, look, there are so many people
who involve their pets in their weddings.
I think we know that at this point.
This is honestly kind of brilliant
because other companies are already providing these services.
So the companies that are already making their money
from wedding products, why not just throw these in as well?
I think it's absolutely brilliant.
We've got some dog lovers in the Zoom room.
I'm seeing them.
We see Melissa's got her puppy on her lap.
Melissa, the idea of the bridal line, the wedding line for the dogs.
Do you like this or not?
I don't.
I'm sorry.
Yeah, your dog is included as part of your family.
But in all honesty, with everything that's going on, I can't.
I mean, I get dresses for her.
I have, you know, sweaters
and things that I get at the thrift store for a dollar.
But to go all out on a wedding, nah, we're not doing that.
And by the way, me and Billy, we're switching teams today.
So, you know, I got to give a shout out to the commanders.
Billy's switching teams today.
You're rocking the burgundy and gold,
and Billy is rocking that New York Giants.
We'll get to him in just a second.
First, though, Allison, also a dog lover, Onyx, the idea
of dressing him up, David's Bridal, a little tuxedo possibly for Onyx.
Do you like this or not?
Absolutely.
Onyx likes to dress for every occasion.
No, I'm actually lying.
Onyx hates putting clothes on, but I love it.
I would do this for him.
I put clothes on him all the time.
He hates it.
He used to like it.
He doesn't anymore.
But I think this is adorable
because animals are a very serious part of your family.
You want to include them in everything.
And if I were to get married, I won't.
But if I were to get married,
I would have to have him in the wedding photos dressed appropriately.
So, absolutely, I love it.
Absolutely.
You've got to be looking your best
no matter what in those wedding photos.
Billy rocking the New York Giants hat, Billy,
the idea of the wedding party line for your four-legged friends.
Do you like this or not?
First of all, shout out to the New York Giants.
And I don't think it's a bad idea.
Yeah, I mean, I agree with Allison, you know,
and I kind of agree with Melissa, too.
So I'm like, if the dogs welcome in the place,
bring your dog and dress them up if you got the money.
Yeah, if you've got the money.
And look, people do have the money when it comes to their pets.
Some people spend more on their pets than they do on themselves.
There have been multiple studies talking about this,
whether it's Halloween costumes,
whether it's like birthday and Christmas treats for them.
Also, did you guys like make a bet?
Is that why you guys are, like, rocking the opposite team's gear?
Billy, did you lose a bet on this one?
They tied.
I lost a bet.
You did.
Yes, but Melissa was nice enough to say,
I'll put on the Commander's jersey just
to give you a little bit of support.
Okay.
Well, I love to see it.
All right, next up, let's go from weddings to funerals.
Move over coffee cans,
because apparently Pringles is now offering a one-of-a-kind promotion
just in time for spooky season.
Take a look at this nonsense.
potato chip fans can now enter for a chance
to win a custom urn shaped like the iconic
Pringles chip can along with a 200 year supply
of their chips I think they call them crisps can't
they even not not legally call them potato chips
or something like that don't quote me on that
the once you drop campaign is what this is called
which dropped this week by the way is inspired by
this is my favorite part of this story
though the inventor of the Pringles can whose ashes were
actually buried in one of the containers after
his death back in the year 2008.
So Vernon, resting in peace, or in this case,
if you've ever bought a can of Pringles, peace
is, because they're rarely intact.
Do you like this or not?
Well, I think it was really kind of a stunning move
on his part to get buried in a Pringles
can and not tell people when they put
that out in the grocery stores, right?
You know, you never know when you could open
one up and suddenly a little bit of thunder
in there.
Yeah, a little prize, right?
Exactly.
And Big Pringles doesn't want you to know this.
You can actually already be buried in any can of Pringles.
In any can of Pringles.
And it's all free.
The comment section was actually full of people being like,
you know, you don't need like a custom one.
You could use, and you know, going back to one of my favorite movies
of all time, Big Lebowski with the coffee can.
You know, I don't know if Maxwell House or whatever it is.
I know it's morbid, Allison, but the idea of a custom Pringles urn.
Do you like this or not?
Not for yourself, but just the idea that they did it.
For somebody you hate.
Okay.
No, I actually think it's cool
because anything that has like a cool brand to it,
you want something that's unique.
I definitely don't want someone's spirit inside my Pringles can,
but you can use it for ashes for other types of ashes,
if you know what I mean.
Okay.
Interesting.
Interesting.
Have you killed somebody else?
Okay.
Maybe.
Who are we going to next?
Melissa.
Melissa, the idea of the Pringles urn.
Do you like this as a promotion?
No, I don't, because if that's the case,
then I want to be buried in a big penis-shaped-sized urn.
I'm sorry, we're not, no.
Well, look, I mean, even Kiss did, like, custom caskets.
So, you know, there's something out there for fans of everything,
even if that happens to be the male anatomy.
Billy, Billy, do you like the idea of the Pringles urn promotion?
I'm sorry.
uh i like that idea you know um but i'm trying
to figure out the 200 year supply of pringles
like who's gonna live to eat all of those pringles
who yeah who does that go to i mean
who's getting better is this like your lifetime supply
and then when you sadly pass on do you get
buried in the pringles urn
and what happened anyway no i have a lot of questions ready in
the will ready's in the zoom room freddie
do you like the idea of the pringles urn promotion
No, I don't like that.
And how are you, Vernon Miles?
Good to see you on Weekend Live Zone.
I figured you're always on Weekend Live Zone on primetime.
I can tell that.
I should also catch him hanging out with Kyle Ebert on weekdays.
Nice.
Yeah, I figured.
I know.
And I hope you're doing well, Chris.
But yeah, Pringles urn.
But Pringles urn, no.
I don't want that on me.
I really don't.
There's no way.
If I had to pass away, I'm not going
to be leaving myself in a Pringles urn like this.
No.
Yeah, I think that, to his point there,
I hate the idea of somebody's whole life
getting boiled down in death to a brand.
Even stuff I love, right?
Like, I love Marvel and Star Wars stuff,
but I would hate to be in a little TIE fighter in death.
Like, that's sad.
Okay, I mean, but if you like it, I love it.
I'm not here to yuck anyone's yum.
ESPN is trying to recruit some new sports fans,
and they have their sights set on some younger eyeballs.
Take a look at this.
The Sports Network just launched a YouTube channel
called ESPNJV.
It features original programming,
sports challenges, athlete trivia, and more,
and it's all geared towards children.
Take a look.
Sports fans, I'm Ez.
Shay here.
And PJ.
Taken by Iguodala.
Iguodala to Curry, back to Iguodala.
This is a collaboration with Disney,
which owns ESPN, so it kind of makes sense.
In the announcement, the network wrote,
from basketball and football to soccer, baseball, and tennis,
ESPN JV introduces a wide range
of sports through colorful accessible storytelling and interactive
formats that invite kids to participate in the action
so vernon a sports network for kids do
you like this or not this is one of those things where
as soon as i saw it i was like this is
genius i don't know how nobody did this before
this is yes i think this is not only great for
the kids this also helps if you have parents
that are like really into sports it's a great way of
getting your kids into it i remember i did not love sports obviously
but i played the NCAA games
with my dad we'd always turn on mascot mode
because it was the only reason i could get invested in it
so i think it makes sense i think it's a great way
of getting into another generation it's an
absolutely brilliant idea and look there are probably
so many parents out there and we have
not broached this yet but like i know some parents
are a little sick of Bluey i know they're like
sick of the Caillou or whatever the heck you know
the Miss Rachel's you know shout out to all of
them they all play a very necessary role
but i know there are so many parents and we're just like
oh my god please not again
so you're throwing on some sports highlights LeBron James throwing down
some backwards dunks plus look sports can
be complicated to get into i didn't understand
football for a long long until i played it honestly
so this is a way of it making more
sense and maybe it can lead to more bonding time yeah between parents
and their kids as well Billy
and the Zoomer Billy the ESPN JV YouTube channel
do you like this or not i totally agree i don't
know why nobody hasn't been thought about this it's
a genius idea i'm totally for it and it can
help people like Allison who don't know too much
about sports she can watch it with her kids and
then she'll learn and i love anything that has
to do with trivia yeah anything to do with trivia too
and and Allison actually uh oh wait do we have some
who do we got okay there we go Allison so
even if you don't understand sports one
of the things that i love that has happened recently
is like a lot of um sporting events have done like
the Toy Story version where they like animated an
actual football game or an actual hockey game
and so you have like options of the versions of the
cast that you can watch Nickelodeon did
this too where you could watch the football game like the
normal way or you could watch it like in a kid friendly version yeah
and Billy hit it right on
the head he's actually like my borderline birthday twin
so we think alike all the time so he was so
correct um this will actually help me
and i am gonna watch this because a lot of times there's
a lot of sports conversations
and a lot of circles that i'm in everyone watches sports except for me
this will be more comforting for me to watch
and also i think this is amazing for children who it's
made for because for one children that are looking
into sports a lot of times it's because their
parents are into it parents get sometimes a little aggressive
and cursing and the whole thing
This is a calmer way,
and it could also help with sportsmanship as well.
It could definitely help with sportsmanship.
And, Melissa, not to get, like, too nerdy about it,
too, but a lot of sports is math.
There's a lot of statistics involved.
There is a lot of memorization and numbers and things like that.
So in addition to it being kind of passive entertainment,
it could be kind of knowledgeable as well.
It can.
And I agree with this.
And again, why didn't they come up with this a long time ago?
It's bad enough that children nowadays are socially awkward
and they really don't even know how to have a conversation.
So can you imagine more kids being into sports
and actually having a conversation that actually makes sense?
You know, that that is a wonderful idea. I'm sorry.
anything to make them more interactive
and learn something at the same time is a hell yes for me
the one thing i did not research
and i don't know the answer to is whether or not part of the reason
this can now exist i know we all said like why did
this not exist for so long i don't know how much AI may
be involved in it or not don't quote me on that again
but i do think as ai has gotten better it
has made things like this easier to create yeah
when they were doing the play like
right after the play happens they're like oh look
a little animation here i was like ain't no way yeah i was
kind of curious whether they spent the money
on actually having somebody animate that and again
don't quote me i don't know for sure next up
the rudest thing you can do at someone else's house
that is what we are talking about we're talking about
the one house party rule that apparently
it crosses generations. Don't go snooping.
A Joybird survey of adults from Gen Z to baby
boomers found 61% say snooping through private rooms,
closets, drawers or cabinets is the number
one house guest pet peeve.
62% say guests should stay away, excuse me, should keep their phones
away during most of the visit, so slightly more.
Another big no-no, showing up sick, bad-mouthing
the food or decor, breaking something without offering
to replace it. And if you want to be
the perfect guests ask about shoes let
your host know about dietary restrictions offer to bring
something and help clean up
so vernon snooping someone else's house do you like this or not are
you guilty of doing this or not i am not guilty
of doing this i do not like it when people do
this i am an absolute freak
and so when somebody comes over i try to put all that stuff like a
little bit out of the way and i'm kind of like it's
on you if you're going through my place and
you're finding something like that same thing
with i have like very rich yeah i agree 100% vernon is spot
on it's on you if you found something
and you're traumatized by it shouldn't have gone snooping
absolutely 100% correct if you're in my medicine cabinet
and you're like what the hell is this
shouldn't have been in there shouldn't have
been in there all right allison snooping is it the
number one pet peeve for house guests um okay
so let me let me be honest i'm a snooper but i'm not
opening cabinets i'm not opening anything i'm not touching anything
but i'm a type of person where
i have like mechanical eyes i see everything all over
the place like i'm very nosy i'm very aware
of everything in my surroundings i'll be the one
to see the thing that nobody else saw because i
just have this curiosity i was born that way i need to know
but i will say i did it to one person
it was someone that i was dating
that had some questionable oh i can't even say the whole thing
because y'all gonna hate me
but i was i was in his medicine cabinet okay interesting interesting
i like the rule there about it's like the kind
of the cop rule right if it's in plain sight
exactly that's a great yeah you're off the hook legally
in that case billy snooping at someone
else's house are you guilty do you like this do you
not is this the number one pet peeve i'm a
hundred percent guilty and i'm just like allison anytime i go
in anybody's house and i use their
bathroom i'm going to open
that medicine cabinet up i don't know why it's a bad habit i need to be
spanked for it but that's just something
that i always have done all right so everyone out there
streaming on fox local now now
that if you invite billy over hide whatever you don't want him to
say melissa do you agree with billy do you agree
with allison are you snooping or do you think this
the number one pet peeve my number one pet peeve
is never come to someone's house empty-handed you
come to my house empty-handed we're gonna have problems
however i do not snoop i am not guilty
of doing that um but i am very sneaky what i
do is if i don't want people to snoop or i want people
to talk or if i know that they're doing something they're
not supposed to i buy a lot of um uh
suction cup dildos and I'll put them in random places and go talk
You shouldn't have been
snooping. That's how you get people talking
and keep them out of your business. Here's the one
thing I will say about this study
I'm more surprised that people didn't list zillowing
people's houses when you get invited
and knowing how much they paid for it because, oh, that's
something I do all the time, baby
I want to know how much you spent on that house and why you have
so much more money than i do keep the comments coming
on all the stories we have talked about
so
far
coming
up
next
the
insane
debate
dividing
welcome
back
to do
you
like
it or
not
on
this
Thursday night we are still talking about whether
or not you should be snooping in people's houses
don't do it easy rule of thumb all right take it
to executive producer Jack Norcross igniting
a massive newsroom debate Vernon couldn't wait
to talk about this story in case you missed it
here's a little sample of the conversation during
the two o'clock newsroom today home is on the edge
of the seat waiting to hear what i'm about
to say okay i don't know where i got this from but this
is dating back years but it's
a big debate would you rather give up kissing or all sauces and it
is listen we are about 50 50 split here some people
are going how can i live without sauces
i mean think about it think about all
the sauces i know tomato sauce dressing considered a sauce
Ranch, ketchup, mustard, condiments, mayo, you name it.
Or kissing.
No, I need my kisses.
You need your kisses.
Yeah.
You're keeping kissing?
Keeping kisses.
I actually have a part, Jack.
Did you guys think I was going to keep sauces?
Nope, I thought you were going to keep kisses.
I knew it.
So, Sophie and I were right.
Yep.
Yep, yep, yep, yep.
Keep kisses.
I know you're keeping sauces and you don't even like sauce, Jack.
I love sauce.
I'm very pro sauce.
You are?
I'm very pro sauce.
I'm very pro sauce.
I'm very pro sauce.
I'm very pro sauce.
I'm very pro sauce.
I'm very pro sauce.
I'm very pro sauce.
I'm going to say right now that I ordered, okay, some Chick-fil-A.
I got my whole Chick-fil-A lineup of sauces.
The Polynesian.
We got the ketchup.
We got the Polynesian.
And we got the Chick-fil-A sauce.
Boom, ba-ba-ba-bam, okay?
That's the way I like it.
That's how I like my sauce, okay?
You're so surprised by that.
All three panelists, Tina, Marina, and Hama, chose Kisses.
Tony chose Kisses.
Jack chose sauces.
Marina predicted that most men would choose the sauce.
That conversation went on for another five minutes.
And listen, usually when I'm talking about loving the sauce,
I'm talking about a completely different thing.
But I do love dipping sauces more than anything.
That debate did not stop when the cameras stopped rolling.
I do need to emphasize that.
This went on and on.
So, Vernon, are you team sauce or team smooch?
Well, first I've got to tell you, behind the scenes,
five minutes on the camera, five hours here in the newsroom.
Constant fighting.
We had legal battles here over this.
This was...
Defining a kiss.
Huge.
Defining a kiss, defining a sauce, all that.
I am a hardline extremist team pro kissing.
I will give up sauces easily,
and I was in the minority here on that one.
It's shocking.
People were on the fence.
I mean, even Marina said she chose the smooches,
which was a little surprising.
But it was a close call because she loves her ranch equally as much.
Marina saying that Jack would pick sauces even
though he doesn't like sauces that much
is one of the funniest, meanest things I've ever heard somebody say.
Of that man.
All right.
Mrs. Producer Krantz is in the Zoom room, so let's go to her.
I did not, I did not weigh in, I asked for the legal definition
of a kiss, let me just put it that way
But Molly, are you choosing the sauces
or the kissing, uh, I think you know what I'm choosing
and I know what you're choosing too, you're
picking kissing even though you love dippy
sauces more than anything, but you could not give up kissing
and i'm gonna give you a big kiss when
you get home later because it's your birthday
and you're getting a special birthday boy
when you get off of work tonight
so we can't give that up 43 years young and maybe before he gets
home we can do that here too right baby let's do it all right
who else we got in melissa in the
zoom room melissa team smooch or team sauce i love sauce
but i'm sorry i i am a kisser like
drop panty kisser if you can kiss me right we
dropping them all right there you go we've got
But so far, we're three for three on this one.
This is not a debate so far.
Allison, team sauce or team smooch?
First, happy birthday, Chris.
I am so sorry I'm late.
You know I love my Libras more than anything.
Thank you very much.
I appreciate it.
And I know you have two sons with October birthdays,
so shout out to you as well.
Thank you so much.
Definitely sauces for me because the sauces will love me for life.
I need the excitement with my food.
I need to be happy with it.
Give me the mambo sauce, the honey mustard.
I need all of that
The kissing is going to be attached
To someone that is kissing someone else
And I don't want to catch something
So I'll take the sauce
Okay, you know
And Angie Goff made the comment too
That, you know, when she's in her 80s
Or something like that
She's still going to enjoy her honey mustard
Love the shout-out to Mambo Sauce there too, by the way
A real one to know
Yeah, that's right
Billy's in the Zoom room
Billy, are you Team Smooch or Team Sauce?
You already know, Chris
I'm Team Kissin'
I want to kiss, kiss, kiss
And I'm going to kiss you
And keep kissing and kissing
and you can keep the sauces and flush them down the toilet.
Oh, okay.
See, like, I just wish we didn't have to choose.
Freddie, are you team sauce or are you team smooch, buddy?
I'm a great kisser and all that, but I love sauce, though.
I really love any sauce I want to eat with it.
I can eat honey mustard, ketchup, Chick-fil-A sauce, barbecue, ranch.
I can eat any of those I want to.
And speaking of barbecue,
I went to that barbecue and we didn't want to close.
Pinky ranking, we're here.
I'm going to turn that into a four
and a half minute soliloquy about romance and yearning.
I have a bottle of hot sauce under my desk,
though, basically at all times.
So it's very, I mean, it's, I do love my sauces.
All right, speaking of food,
apparently Gen Z feels a lot of shame when it comes to food deliveries.
A new study shows that Gen Z is the most likely to order in,
but they are also the most likely to feel intense guilt afterwards.
That guilt apparently stems from feelings
of being lazy or having wasted money.
Vernon, are you a delivery person, A, and,
B, do you feel guilty about it after?
Absolutely not.
And I think they should feel guilty about that.
I'm not just saying that as an ex-Catholic,
you know, a lot of guilt there going on.
You live with that guilt for life.
I hate all the whole food delivery stuff.
Partially, it's being very cheap.
I will drive out to a restaurant if it costs anything to bring it here.
But I also hate the idea of some other person, you know,
taking their time to have to come up and deliver the food to Alice
because I was too lazy to go and get it.
I hate that.
I think you should feel guilty.
Well, I still order in, and Molly can attest to that,
but I definitely feel guilty about it afterwards.
And at no small part
because you remind me how much money I could have saved
by not doing it.
